I would recommend this anime anyone who is looking for break from cute moe harem anime and watch a anime with excellent story and some tearful scenes. At first, the story can be repetitive and slow as it focuses on developing Erin's personality, her interactions with the other characters and world building. However, the story gets better further on as you slowly watch a young curious Erin learn and grow into a caring, beautiful animal loving girl which you will get attached to at the end of the anime.
The anime was originally for children and may at first glance may seem boring to watch. However,
...
the show explores some dark themes such as death, war, and animal cruelty, which deepens the story and develop the character of Erin as she overcomes the issues.
The art is normal but slightly basic and has no special characters but this isn't much of an issue, since the main focus is on the story telling. The anime has a great opening and ending theme song which fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the anime.
Overall I would rate this anime with a 9 since the anime explores dark and mature themes which isn't expected in a children's anime and does a excellent job of fleshing out the characters especially of Erin and Lilian. If you enjoy animes from the world masterpiece studio then you will enjoy this anime as it was based on a Japanese novel and does a good job with the story telling. However, the only downside to this anime was that towards the end it felt rushed which ruined the ending.
