Came for the "plot" and stayed for the PLOT. This is a series that I bet a lot of people started for the excessive amount of fanservice and action. Kill la Kill has tons of that with a typical shounen revenge storyline set in a world of dictator ruled schools and super powered school uniforms.
However, as Ryuko gets closer and closer to finding her father's killer, she becomes consumed by a large scale plot for world domination. To be honest, the premise is ridiculous and the show definitely does not take itself too seriously, but the drama and suspense hooks any viewer.
If you've been
...
an otaku for awhile than you have at least heard of Kill la Kill or seen Ryuko Matoi and her scissor blade. Kill la Kill's has a reputation for a reason, and that is because it is such an outstanding anime. A lot of the situations are very overly dramatic and the characters are very over the top, but that just adds to the suspense and enjoyment of the anime. And the music and art is very unique and fits this series really well. I think Kill la Kill is a milestone of the anime industry and I would put it on the level of shounen icons like Dragon Ball and Fullmetal Alchemist.

I do not remember why I started watching this anime, but I have to say that I am happy that I was able to find this slice-of-life gem.
To describe it with one word, Barakamon is sweet. Seishuu, the main character, is completely out of his element on the island where he has moved, and his interaction with the people of the island as he clumsily and foolishly tries to adapt to their way of life is hilarious and innocent.
Naru, the small girl who befriends Seishuu, is a character that you won't easily forget. She's tiny and adorable and her desire to always
...
play and have fun awakens the child in every viewer.
I will admit this, Barakamon seemed to go on for a long time, at least it did for me. It took me awhile to finish this anime. It can be a little slow and there were times that I forgot that there was an actual story. But when I finished Barakamon, I was satisfied.
I would recommend this anime to anyone who enjoys slice-of-life, comedy, or to someone looking for something sweet and cute.

Durararara!! is one of my favorite anime series and characters in the series are some of my most favorite of most anime. I think that this is an anime series that you either love or hate, but I do think that you need to watch all 24 episodes to judge it.
I give the story a 9 out of 10, but I really wanted to give it 10 out of 10. The only problem is that the beginning is very slow and some things did not really make a whole lot of sense until later in the series. I put this anime on hold a lot
...
until maybe episode 6. After that I started to watch it regularly and I found myself engulfed in the story and mystery.
One of the reasons why the introduction to the series is so confusing is probably because the series is an amalgamation of interconnected stories. Which is fun to try and connect, but it is confusing if you are not focusing all your attention on what is happening.
I give the characters a 10 out of 10. I said that they are some of my most favorite characters and the reason being is that they are all drastically different from one another. No one character is like another. There is Shizuo Heiwajime, the strongest man in Ikebukuro. Strong enough to hurl a vending machine across a city. There is Celty Sturluson, a headless motorcycle rider, who is really a supernatural being from Ireland. There is Izaya Orihara, an information broker with a god complex. Those are just the one that really stand out.
Once the anime picked up momentum, I really enjoyed it. The world of Durarara!! is really chaotic and there is a lot happening, but I think that if you like multiple storylines, interesting characters, and just craziness, you will enjoy Durarara!! Overall, 9 out of 10.

Death Parade is one of my personal favorites. The series is probably a 9 out of 10, but I will give it a 10 out of 10, because I am so attached to this series. If you watch it for yourself, you won't hold my bias against me.
I give the story a 10 out of 10. The basic premise is that after a person dies, they are judged by arbiters while playing a random game against another person who has died. The arbiter than judges whether a person will be reincarnated or sent to the void. This is a very interesting idea, because it asks
...
the question "Who is good/bad? What does it mean to be good/bad?" During the games the arbiters look at a person's memories, emotions, and reactions to different situations. There are a lot of feels in this series, and they are not really cliche or random. The emotional tension is there and it doesn't distract from the story.
Suicide is also mentioned and examined a few times in the series. So, if you are sensitive to such a topic, either avoid this series or be mentally and emotionally prepared.
I don't really talk about art a lot but in Death Parade, the art really compliments the series. The series is very dark and the backgrounds and art are also very dark, but there is a beauty to the darkness. Episode 3 and I think episode 10 are good examples of this. Art: 10 out of 10.
The characters are interesting. Decim is an emotionless arbiter who passes judgement and humans that he tends to provoke. Over the course of the series, he transforms beautiful with the help of his human assistant, a black haired woman who cannot remember her identity. This woman's identity and life is revealed in the end, but er character is really interesting because as a human, she understands human emotions and lives better than Decim, and her reactions to the judged are really interesting. I give the characters of Death Parade a 9 out of 10.
I really enjoyed the series. It was an emotional and psychological roller coaster. Even though it is called "Death" Parade, I think that the series has a lot to say on the value of human life. If you watch this series, I know that you'll get some kind of enjoyment out of it.

If you watch anime, I highly suggest that you watch Death Note. It is a story about detectives, serial killers, Shinigami, and apples. With such an outrageous premise, you might think that Death Note is kind of ridiculous or that it might have sloppy storytelling. No, Death Note is a clean, dark, and serious drama.
I give the story a 10 out of 10. When I was watched Death Note, the story went where I thought it would go. It was predictable, most stories follow a certain flow. But when it counted, Death Note would swiftly take a turn and take the story in a place
...
that I did not expect and I loved it. There was never really a moment in the story where I would think "Well, that was kind of dumb". No, if anything I constantly thinking "What's going to happen next?" or "What's happening?" followed by "WOW" or "I didn't expect that"
The characters are unique and memorable. I give them a 10 out of 10. Light is a genius student who over the course of the show becomes more sinister and deviant. As you watch the show, you'll just start to think "Is he really going to win?" There is also the young and intelligent detective, L, who is the antagonist of the anime. L is a genius who is in a constant mental war with Light. And like Light, you are going to ask yourself, "Is he really going to win?"
It's an enjoyable show. Death Note is pretty much just a battle of minds between Light and L, but the way the show carries and presents the battle, you'll enjoy it as much as you would a physical fight.
Overall the series is a 10 out of 10. Sure, it's not perfect. But whether you love it or hate it, you have to admit that Death Note is an important part of anime and the otaku culture.

Daily Lives of High School Boys is one of the funniest animes that I have ever watched. I think that this is a must see for anyone who likes anime.
I give the story a 7 out of 10, just because there was not a whole lot of story going on. Like you can start with the 3rd or 10th episode and you won't enjoy the series any less. Each episode is a collection of funny stories and situations about some high school boys (and girls). Only the final episode feels like it should be seen at the very end, because there are some references to
...
previous episodes and it wraps up the series (kinda).
I think the characters were about a 8 out of 10. None of them really stood out to me in a way that I thought "Oh, this character is my favorite" or "Hmm, I hate that character" I just enjoyed all of the characters. But each character was unique: Hidenori and Yoshitake play ridiculous make believe games, Ringo is a girl who sees herself in a competition against the boys in almost everything, and Yassan is a "literary girl".
For enjoyment, I give it a 10 out of 10. Each story was hilarious and I really enjoyed this series. It's a series that you'll finish in a day, and you'll want to because you just want more.
Overall an 8 out of 10. It's not really an anime that I'd call ground-breaking or life changing, but it is a joy to watch.

I am going to try really hard not to spoil this series for anyone in this review.
I give the story an 8 out of 10. "Another" is a horror anime with a lot of mystery (which is why I'm trying hard not to spoil anything). The story keeps you on the edge and constantly makes you ask yourself "why?" which makes you want to watch one episode after another.
I give the art a 8 out of 10. The art was decent. I don't really focus a lot on art, unless it is truly bad, but the art in another was decent and sometimes amazing
...
(especially the dolls).
The characters kind of seem kind of bland in the beginning, but as the story progresses their personalities and traits are prominent. Mei is one of my favorite characters (maybe out of all anime) because she starts out kind of distant and creepy, but as the show progresses, she reveals that she has a playful side.
Overall, it was a very good series and I would suggest it to anyone who really enjoys good anime. This was my first horror anime and I think that it was a good place to start.
