"Look at how big the monster inside of me has become." - Johan Liebheart They both imply a kind-hearted main character who believes in life and also tries to save people, but there's also a secondary blonde character who knows and has seen the humankind's darkest side. Those two animes share lots of cold-hearted killings. They also question our humanity and suggest our "monstrous", atrocious side in a less or more viewable nihilist way.

If a battle between humankind and monsters starts, who would win? And the most important question is: are humans the good ones? Both animes talk about those questions. Attack on Titan may do it a bit later. One of them takes the concept of "demon", and the other one the concept of "titan", but they are involved in a similar way.

Aki no Puzzle

If you... "enjoyed" the Aki no Puzzle experience, you shouldn't miss the uncensored episode 38 of the Pokémon's original series, "Dennō Senshi Porygon". There's strong seizure in both. I hope you don't watch this seizure stuff, too.

Kiteretsu Daihyakka

They are both from Fujiko Fujio and share completely the artstyle. In Doraemon, the main character (a robot) helps constantly the human, but in Kiteretsu it's the opposite: the main character (an human) makes the robot and generates new technology itself without the own tech dependence.

The two battle shounen I have enjoyed the most in two different moments of my life. Ueki no Housoku was part of my childhood, and One Punch Man introduced me to anime series again after years. They both share a simple and funny main character with a strong sense of justice.

Life, death and justice are the main themes of Death Note and Monster. Death Note is a good way to introduce the psychology and the themes of Monster for a younger audience.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 3: Stardust Crusaders

You'll see some random stuff in those both animes. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo takes the "random" concept in a comedy way, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure in an intentional weird way. While the first one is pure dadaist, surreal, absurd comedy, the second one tries to be serious and its really weird scenes seems to be logical when you watch them in context. They also share a manly main character and unexpected secondary characters.

They are both great experimental, inspirational films with lots of artistic purposes. Tenshi no Tamago may take some visual inspiration from Belladonna of Sadness.

Pokemon Movie 01: Mewtwo no Gyakushuu

If you liked the deep themes of the first Pokémon movie but you want to go far, you should definitely try Neon Genesis Evangelion. In my opinion the first Pokémon movie took inspiration from this anime, they both share themes like clonation, recreation of life, biological issues... I really wished all the recent Pokémon films were inspired by this great anime era and had some meaningful story inside them like the earlier ones.

They both state sex as one of the human's main instincts created to forget sadness and human feelings, because "wild violence and sex are reserved to demon/devil". But that's not true: we are the demons, "demons" are only the depiction of our wildest desires, we have lots of understatements about lots of the social problems and we avoid them thinking about pleasure. In Belladona of Sadness, specifically, it applies to the female role in the Medieval Period. They also have a really unique style.

They are both really good comedies and parodies in their own way. One Punch Man for the shounen genre and Crayon Shin Chan for the slice of life genre. The main characters in both animes are also really charismatical, and the secondary characters are probably crazier as well.

Human being is probably the cruellest thing ever made. Both animes make us cry like we have never done thinking about it.
