As someone who actively seeks out things to make me cry, I was going into this with the same expectations as the other anime's I have watched. You often forget why you do the things you do, and how mush they mean to you. Violet, and consequently this movie, reminded me of that.
"I love you". It's such a common phrase that people often forget the weight that it carries. To Violet, someone who at the beginning of the series had no real concept of emotion, they were just 3 words without meaning. Throughout the series she begins to see people not as their surface level

emotions, but as the feelings they hide from the world. So while even though she herself does not have a complete understanding of the emotions, she's able to emulate other's emotions perfectly.
As the show ends Violet finally begins to understand what "I love you" means, and she begins to regret that she never had the opportunity to tell the Major that. Which is how she comes to tell people who are having trouble expressing their emotions how important it is to say what you can now, since tomorrow isn't promised. We see her do this time and time again, and she begins to remind us, the audience, of how important the words you speak are. Violet tells us how your words can effect someone for the rest of their lives.
I had forgotten what my own emotions were for a long time, and seeing her fight to be able to express her emotions even though she didn't know how was an eye opener. People are often confused by her, and angry at how well she is able to read other people. Yet Violet in unfazed because she understands that emotions are hard. Seeing her struggle with those emotions herself, even though she had helped countless other was amazing.
Violet reminded me what the words "I love you" mean, and the major and Hodgins were a great accompaniment to her. The voice acting was amazing, and I could look at the art for hours. The music was timed perfectly for when you were at the height of your emotions, and the movie was a beautiful end to this wonderful love story. If this is the end of Violet and her story I am wholeheartedly content with that. I hope that one day I can be like Violet, and find my own meaning of the words "I love you".
