Uzumaki (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
TL;DR: The show is good, but confusing for people not familiar with the source material. For major fans it may be something of a letdown, particularly since it took 5 years to complete 4 25 minute episodes. Definitely read the manga, it only takes about 2 hours to get through and it is worth every second.

Junji Ito's Uzumaki is possibly the greatest work of horror ever written. It is doubtful that there is any other work that so fully explores its theme and ends with such a stunning conclusion.
As a manga, Uzumaki is great. As an anime, Uzumaki is good.

While there's no doubt that the ...

Nourin (Anime) add
This anime has been done a disservice by the way it has been presented. It has been judged unfairly due to the expectations that people had going into it. This is not a show about farming, nor is it a show about an idol who leaves the industry, rather those elements are just the backdrop for a slapstick comedy. Those who like anime slapstick comedies may enjoy Nourin, but if you don't like anime slapstick comedies then you most likely will not enjoy the show.

This is definitely a good show. The characters are funny and each has their own signature characteristics. For the most part ...

Wasurenagumo (Anime) add
MAL's Information lists this one-shot episode as Comedy, but it's actually a very understated horror short, and it is amazing.
The plot is well paced, and the characters are both likeable and well-developed despite the short time that is allotted to character development in a single 25 minute episode. There aren't many shows that fit into the same genre as this short, but the closest that I can think of in terms of atmosphere and style is Steins; Gate. which shares many of the same understated elements and atmosphere.
Fantastic episode left me wanting more because it was so perfect, but I'm glad it was exactly the ...

In spite of it's rating, this is my favorite anime of all time.
Horror is a genre that does not generally fare well among anime fans, however this gem remains hidden by its poor ratings.
This show excels at its character development. By the end of the show, the characters have all been thoroughly explored and we get to see that many of them are fighting to survive for more than just their own sake and many of them are willing to sacrifice themselves to save their friends.
Honestly not sure why this one got such a bad score from others. It goes up there with Higurashi as ...

This show is hard to watch. It does a good job of making the characters' deaths meaningful.
The downside to this show is that it is truly meant for people who have played the games, so the story feels a bit tangled and can be a bit confusing for those who haven't played the games. This is particularly true since there are nine characters and it is a struggle to keep track of who is who and what has happened to each one of them.
That said, I am quite fond of this show and I think it has one of the best ending scenes I've seen.
Needless ...

Many of the things that were true of the Junji Ito Collection are also true of this show. While Ito's works are some of the best horror ever written, this show doesn't fully do them justice.
The biggest issue with this is its selection of stories. As with all writers Ito has some hits and some misses and this series adapts more misses than hits. Unfortunately, this show had worse story selection than its predecessor. While the stories are mostly good in their original format, they didn't adapt well.
Like its predecessor, the thing that is going to bother people more than probably anything else about the ...

Mixed Feelings
I rated this show a 7, but I definitely have mixed feelings on it.
Ito's works are some of the best horror works ever written. Period. However, this show struggled with some elements that bogged down the final product.
The biggest issue with this is its selection of stories. As with all writers Ito has some hits and some misses and this series adapts more misses than hits. It also adapts only parts of some stories, such as the Oshikiri stories, which are some of my favorite, but it would have been better to adapt the full Oshikiri stories. It also adapts two chapters from Tomie.
The thing ...

Helck (Anime) add
Honestly, Helck is disappointing. The show starts off really well as a strong comedy, however as the show progresses almost all the comedic elements disappear and we are left with a stereotypical shounen action show. It includes all the tropes that I hate in shounen action, such as the MC being strong enough to stop everything that happens but standing by and watching all his friends be defeated because he's sad, or being able to stop pretty much any attack but not being around when attacks occur due to random details from the plot or just standing around waiting to join the fight for some ...

Migi to Dali (Anime) add
Spoiler-free review.
Migi and Dali is a very unique show. I was hesitant to watch it, but once I started I realized that it was a masterpiece.
The show taps into a very unique genre: uncanny comedy. The show seems like something of a cross between Sakatomoto and something by Junji Ito, which kind of makes sense since it's written by the author of Sakamoto (which I also highly recommend.)
It also has substantial elements of mystery and suspense which eventually supersede the comedy as the story develops, and it does have some very dark moments, but the comedy never completely disappears.
I don't think there's any point in ...
