Metropolis is an anime movie that started showing in Japan on May 26, 2002. It is loosely based on Osamu Tezuka's manga Metropolis, which itself is inspired by 1927 German silent film of the same name. The movie was produced by studio Madhouse, and it was directed by Rintaro, who's directed things like Galaxy Express 999 movie.

The story takes place in the great city of Metropolis, where life is easy and everything is great. Or is it? Beneath a facade of splendor lies dark world of prejudice, unrest, and violence. Because, in the city of Metropolis, humans and robots live together side by side, and ... robots gets all the bad jobs that no one wants, and are treated as disposible objects. But you've not only got the robots who have it bad. You also have the poor who live in slums. They can not get jobs due to the robots taking the only jobs that normally would be available to them, and they are only alive because they are being kept alive through things like food handouts. On the other end of the spectrum you have people like Duke Red. He's the most popular man in Metropolis who most people want as mayor, but he claim uninterested in politics. However, he has other plans. He's hired a scientist named Dr. Laughton, who's making a robot to sit on the throne of the Siggurat and display "mankinds power" to the rest of the world. However, before Duke Red can get a hold of this robot, Dr. Laughton is killed and his lab burned down, and the robot is nowhere to be found.

The most important character in this movie is Tima. Tima is a robot who is made to realize Duke Red's ambitions of spreading "mankinds power" across the entire world.
Kenichi is the nephew of Japanese detective Shunsaku Ban who have come to Metropolis in search of Dr. Laughton, who's suspected to violate human rights by trading organs. Kenichi ends up saving Tima from the burning lab of Dr. Laughton, and Kenichi and Tima ends up running around all of Metropolis and witnessing all the horrors of this supposedly great city.
Rock is the reason why Kenichi and Tima is running around Metropolis. He opposes Duke Red's plan to use Tima, and is trying to kill Kenichi and Tima. He killed Dr. Laughton and set fire to his lab in an attempt to destroy Tima, but since Kenichi rescued her, Rock now see's it necessary to get rid of Kenichi too.

Visually speaking, this movie is kinda strange to me. It's not that it looks bad, just weird. The backgrounds are absolutely fantastic. Metropolis really is great looking, and the way the backgrounds speak volumes of the state of the city without ever saying a word to you is fantastic. But in contrast to that, you have Osamu Tezuka's character designs running around in here. Just personally speaking, I'm not the biggest fan of his designs, so for me it took a bit of getting used to. But not concidering personal opinion here, this movie is very good looking, and of course the animation is up to par as well.

The music for this movie was composed by Toshiyuki Honda. He did a really good job on the music in this movie. It saxophone really fits this movie and adds something to almost every scene, yet at the same time, the music has got flair that makes it fun to listen to even by itself.

Looking at Metropolis, I see a story of inequality and prejudice as the main focus. We have this great and bustling city where everyone seems to be happy and live great lives, but underneath all of that we see the real problems. We see poor people who are only being kept alive by "good will" as they can't even get a job or anything due to the robots taking all the unwanted jobs. We see that Metropolis is really just a paradise made for the few. And at the top of that paradise we see Duke Red, who is a man who's hunger for greatness and power is more important than anything else. Honestly, this movie was just as good as I was hoping for. That's not to say I think it's without flaws. I feel like the movie gets a bit too focused on Metroplis itself and the main characters. That might sound a bit weird, but like I mentioned earlier on, there is the element of real humans struggling here as well, but they show very little of that throughout the movie, and you don't really get a good idea of just how bad it actually is until the riots start breaking out. Up until that you've mostly been shown what the city is like, and the way the robots are treated through the eyes of our main characters, as well as them trying to figure out who Tima really is since Tima has no memories. I think the movie might have tried to do a bit too much with it's less than 2 hour run. But despite this, I think this movie is still a really good movie and I highly recommend people to check it out if you haven't yet.

Full Metal Panic is a light novel series written by Shoji Gatoh and illustrated by Shiki Douji, and it was adapted into a 24 episode anime that was produced by studio Gonzo, and aired on TV in Japan from Jan 8 2002 to Jun 18 2002. The anime series was directed by Kouichi Chigira who's also directed shows like the Last Exile TV series.

The story of Full Metal Panic follows Sousuke Sagara. Spusuke is a 17 year old sargeant within the paramilitary counter-terrorist force, Mithril. One day he and his team recieves a special mission, to enroll in a Japanese high school in order to ... protect a girl named Kaname Chidori. She is believed to be what is referred to as a "whispered", and there are terrorists who are looking to kidnap her and use her. However, trying to protext Chidori without her knowing proves to be a lot harder than anticipated for Sousuke who has been raised on the battlefield and knows very little about how to act "normal".

This show has a huge cast of diverse characters, and we're not simply locked into the perspective of one character. Sousuke Sagara is one of the shows main characters. He's a 17 year old boy who since he was an 8 year old kid has known nothing but the battlefield. Now he's a part of Mithril, an organization dedicated to trying to stop terrorists.
Chidori Kaname is another of the main characters, and is at first what seems like your average popular high school girl. But there turns out to be more to her. She is also what is referred to as a Whispered, people with a lot of knowledge and the ability to create powerful devices and machinery. However, Chidori herself is not aware that she possesses this power and knowledge.
You also have the rest of Sousuke's team who joins him for this mission. First you have Kurz Weber who is a flirt and doesn't seem like he is serious about anything, but he is actually a very talented sniper. You also have Melissa Mao. She is SRT's (Special Response Team) second in command.
Lastly you have Teletha Testarossa also referred to as just Tessa. She is the captaion of captain of Mithril's TDD-1 submarine, despite only being 16 years of age, due to her being a genius.

Visually this show is fine. The character designs are pretty standard early 2002s designs and the backgrounds are fine. The animation in this show has it's high's and lows, but the longer the shows goes on, the more of a drop in animation quality we start to see. It's not like it's a poorly animated show or that it looks bad, but it is not consistent.

The music in this show was done by Toshihiko Sahashi who has also been responsible for the music to shows like Gunslinger Girl and the original Hunter x Hunter. Sadly the music in this show doesn't really stand out at all. It's not bad, but it is simply there. It works in the context of a scene, but you're probably not gonna come away from this show thinking a whole lot about the music.

The first thing that I'm sure people are gonna react to with this show is that it sounds like a lot of other early 2000s anime. I mean, how many times haven't we seen the trope filled high school anime? If you've been watching anime for a while, probably a few more times than you would have wished for. And this show is also guilty of being very much a product of it's time. A lot of the tropes that we have gotten used to are also to be found in here. However, what seperates this show from a lot of other shows is how it uses these tropes to it's advantage. You might think that this is a show about a weird guy trying to protect a girl and ends up enrolling in high school and hilarity ensues, and while you are not wrong, that's only one small portion of the show. You have also got the actual plot of the anime which is about a world of relative unrest, and where the slightest spark can set of a huge war. Also, the characters might seem very simple at first, but most of these characters are more than just their respective tropes, and get fleshed out more over the course of the story. In other words, this show is not trying to seperate itself from others by doing something completely different to what other shows at the tie were doing, but rather by doing a lot of the same things better than most other shows would, and it does succeed... at least to an extent. I would be lying if I said that there aren't times where the tropes pull the show down. Things like pointless bath scenes, and certain episodes that adds absolutely nothing to the story are also present in this show. But despite this, most of the episodes are still good and add something to the story, so rather the pointless episodes being a big part of the show, there are only a few of them.

So my overall thoughts on this show is that it's a good show. Sure, it has it's ups and downs, but for the most part it's a fairly solid show. I would not recommend this show to anyone though. If you are very tired of early 2000s tropes, then I'd suggest to stay away from this, at least for now, but if you are not that bothered by them, then go ahead and give this show a chance. It's an entertaining watch. Full Metal Panic has also got a sequel, and I will definitely be checking that out at a later date.

Noir is an original anime that was produced by studio Bee Train. It aired from Apr 6 2001 and Sep 28 2001 and is 25 episodes in total. It was directed by Koichi Mashimo (Ai City) and falls into the Girls With Guns sub-genre, which is concidered a different kind of moe. Koichi would later go on to direct two more anime called Madlax and El Cazador de la Bruja which are concidered spiritual successors to Noir even though they are not related story wise.

Noir is the name of an ancient assassin, and just the mention of that name is enough to strike fear in ... the hearts of anyone. Now that code name belongs to two assassin girls named Mireille Bouquet and Kirika Yuumura. They are now going around accepting assassination jobs. However, a certain powerful organization named Soldats is hiding in the background, and they are trying to get rid of Mireille and Kirika. On top of that both Mireille and Kirika seem to be involved with this mysterious organization in some way.

Mireille Bouquet is one of the two women who make up Noir. She was born in Corsica, France. But due to certain circumstances she had to leave. Now she lives in Paris, but she travels around a lot since she does assassination jobs all over the world.
Kirika Yuumura is the other half of Noir. She's emotionless and has no memories of her past. But for some reason she is very skilled at handling guns and killing. When she joins up with Mireille she makes a promise with her that Mireille will get to take her life once the mysteries surrounding their pasts are cleared up.

The animation in this show is very simplistic and uses a lot of stills. It's not very visually appealing. The only exception to that is some of the backgrounds. They have some really nice shots of Corsica for example, and it makes at least teh backgrounds worth watching.

The music in this show is quite good. It was composed by Yuki Kajiura (Fate Zero), and the music is just fantastic to listen to. If I had one complaint about it, it would be that the music can often overshine what happens on screen, but I don't put that down to the music alone, as overshining what happens on screen is not very hard when it comes to this show.

Now as you could probably tell from that last line there, I'm not a fan of this show. With that said, it's not like this show is terrible either. I wish I could say it was and leave it at that, but it's more so that it feels like this show didn't really have much of a direction. The show wastes so much time with showing us flashbacks, and usually it's the same flashback over and over again. The show want's to be methodical and let the viewer know that everything is important. Everything from the dialogue to the flashbacks, but the way they go about always reminding the viewer about what has happened through the use of flashbacks makes it feel like the show has no faith in the viewer keeping up with the story. It's not even like it's that hard to keep up, but the show really does treat it's audience like we're all retarded, and I don't appreciate that. It makes even the best of moments in this show just feel like a huge waste of time. I feel like this show could have been so much better if it would have just trusted it's audience to keep up with the story a lot more than they did, but because of them not doing that I have to say that this show is just not worth anyones time. I would however recommend you to check out the OST as that is by far the best part of the show.

FLCL or Fooly Cooly is a 6 episode comedy OVA produced by the FLCL Production Comittee, which consited of studio Gainax, Production I.G, King Records. The OVA was released between Apr 26 2000 and Mar 16 2001m and the series main director was Kazuya Tsurumaki who's directorial work include shows like Diebuster and the Evangelion rebuilds.

The story follows Naoto Nanbada. He is just your average 6th grader living in a city where nothing happens. After Naoto's brother has left for America to play baseball, Naoto ends up taking care of everything his brother left behind, like his top bunk bed and his ex-girlfriend Mamimi Samejima. ... One day everything around Naoto seems to change as Haruko Haruhara literally crashes into his life on her Vespa. After Naoto gets hit in the head by Haruko's bass guitar, a horn starts sprouting from his head and all sorts of problems arise. The biggest possibly being that Haruko is now gonna be living with him in his home and sleep in the same room.

Naoto Nanbada is just an average 6th grader. He lives a fairly uninteresting and mundane everyday life. However, he ends up taking "care" of his older brothers ex-girlfriend, as well as having to deal with Haruko and all the trouble that follows her.
Mamimi Samejima is Naoto's older brothers ex-girlfriend. She's a bit of a weird one and can't seem to let go of her love for Naoto's older brother, so she uses Naoto as a replacement for him.
Haruko Haruhara is a pink-haired, bass guitar wielding, vespa riding ailien who literally crashes into Naoto's life. She is seemingly nothing but trouble, but there is an allure to her that draws Naoto and other men to her.

The animation in this OVA is very varied and good. They use a lot of stretch and pull techniques and 3D camera movement, but it looks very good. It's also fairly experimental visually. The best example of that is the scenes that is showcased through manga panels rather than animation.

The music in this show is fantastic. The Pillows did most the music for this OVA and they did a fantastic job with it. Their songs really elevates this show and makes it a lot more enjoyable to watch, especially that ending. I never skipped that ED because I never got tired of it.

I've heard so much positive feedback on this show, and a little negative feedback, but mostly it has been positive. Becasue of that, I was excited to watch it to see if it actually was as good as people claimed it to be. And I was not let down. This weird comedy anime was equal parts funny and interesting/thought provoking, and I really like that. This show really likes to explore puberty. It's got a lot of dirty jokes like penis and sex innuendoes, and a lot of the show focuses on Naoto coming to like and feel an attraction towards women, especially towards Haruko. But there are also other underlying plot points here like Mamimi's love for Naoto's older brother, which turns into her creepy attraction to Naoto. As well as Haruko's understanding of what makes people tick and how she can enter someone's life and become someone important to them, as well as how to use that to her own advantage. Honestly I could go on for ever, but you get the point. This OVA is in my opinion a fantastic anime and I could not recommend it enough. If you've got nothing else to do, go watch this as soon as possible.

NieA_7 (NieA under Seven) is a 13 episode comedy/slice of life TV anime produced by studio Triangle Staff. The main director for the series was Tomokazu Tokoro (Haibane Renmei), and it aired from Apr 26 2000 to Jul 19 2000. NieA is an adaptation of a doujin manga with the same name, created by Yoshitoshi ABe. The manga would later go on to be published by Kadokawa Shoten on their monthly Shounen magazine Monthly Ace Next.

The story goes something like this. Aliens have come and invaded the earth. But rather than taking over, they have decided to live among the humans, as their mother ship ... has broken down and they can not leave the planet. We follow the dirt-poor student Chigasaki Mayuko who finds herself living with one of these aliens named NieA. NieA is what is called an Under Seven alien who does nothing buy laze around, eat lots of food, and builds space ships. While Mayuko is trying to go to cram school to get into college, as well as earn enough money for herself to be able to eat everyday, which proves very difficult with NieA around.

This show is mostly a comedy slice of life type of story, but it's also got a lot of themes of class difference and discrimination. This makes the show not just a fun watch, but also makes it interesting to see what will become of a girl living by herself and an alien who officially doesn't even legally exist.

The most important characters in this show is obviously Mayuko and NieA. Mayuko is a dilligent student and a hard worker, who's just doing her best to survive, and NieA is a lazy freeloading slob who won't do anything. But other than them you've also got some minor characters like Chiaki Komatsu. She goes to the same cram school as Mayuko and is a total geek for aliens. She ends up becoming Mayuko's friend. You've also got Kotomi Hiyama who runs the bathhouse that Mayuko stays at. She is a hard worker who is doing everything she can to keep the bathhouse from closing, even though it seems like an impossible task. She's also a character that Mayuko can turn to and vent her frustrations or just get advice from.

The animation in this show is nothing to write home about. It moves, but it can be very clunky at times. Kind of annoying since there isn't so much movement to animate. That said though, a lot of the animation is pull and stretch techniques to try make situations more funny.

Overall I enjoyed this show. Going into it I didn't really know much about this show, so at first I thought this was just gonna be a straight comedy. The comedy was funny, but when the themes of discrimination and class difference started to appear, as well as Mayuko's very real struggles of trying to make ends meet financially in an unstable economy, as well as the lonliness she feels being away from her family, and with no really close friends to speak of, seeing her find a home in the Enohama bathhouse, as well as make friends was a lot more heartwarming than I was expecting from this show. I would honestly recommend you to check out this show if you are at all curious, but if you're not into random comedy or very slow paced shows you might just want to give this show a miss.

Kachou Ouji (Legend of Black Heaven) is a 13 episode TV anime original produced by studio AIC and A.P.P.P. It was directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi (Macross Frontier) and aired from Jul 8 1999 to Oct 7 1999.

The story goes something like this. Ouji Tanaka is a middle-aged sallery worker, working a dead end job, and living in a tiny apartment together with his wife Yoshiko and their son Gen. Ouji is living his mundane everyday life with nothing exiting happening. The only thing to remind him of the exiting times of the past is his flying V electric guitar that he used to play when ... he was in a metal band called Legend of Black Heaven. One day a woman called Layla Yuki starts working at the company Ouji works for. She is very interested in Ouji, and it turns out that she is an alien who has come to get him to play his guitar for them in, cause his music is the only thing that can activate their ultimate weapon to protect the earth from getting involved in a space war. Ouji happily agrees and gets to live out the glory days of his past and rekindle his love for music.

There are a few characters that could be worth mentioning, but I'm only gonna stick to the most important ones.
First we have our main character Ouji Tanaka. He's the former guitarist of a metal band called Legend of Black Heaven, who had aspirations of making it big in the music world, but sadly it didn't work out for them. Now he's working a dead end job and living with his wife and son, and nothing exiting happens.
Secondly we have Layla Yuki. She's an alien commander who come to earth to get Ouji, cause they need his music to activate their ultimate weapon which only activates from his music.
Finally we have Ouji's wife, Yoshiko. She was once a groupy of Ouji's band, and they ended up getting married. Now her life together with Ouji is not going great. While Ouji is unhappy and stuck in the past, she wants to move on, and in order to make room for their new life and child she tries to throw away all of Ouji's music related things, and even ends up throwing away his flying V guitar.

The animation in this show is not good. This show definitely does not excel in the visual aspects. It's not bad enough that the show is unwatchable because of it, but you're not gonna be blown away visually. Also the CG is as you would expect from a 90s anime.

The music in his show on the other hand is very good. Being mostly made up of metal and hard rock this is right up my alley when it comes to music. Everything from the OP, all the way up until the ending was very good. However the ending really felt out of place. Almost like it didn't belong to the same show, and their choice to use the song they did for the ED was a strange decision. Another complaint I've got about the music is that while I think it's good, I do wish they would have had more music to use. Because, even though I really liked the OP song Cautionary Warning, hearing it played on most of the episodes as an insert song as well got a bit boring. But if you like that song as much as I do, it won't really be that much of a problem.

Overall I was surprised by this show. Hearing about it and reading the synopsis it sounded like just another stupid anime premise, and it definitely is, but this is the sort of stupid I can get behind. I enjoyed the show, and even though the writing at times got a little weird (shocking, I know) it for the most part felt like the show had a very good idea of what it wanted to be and do. At least up until the end where they started pulling some weird stuff because "aliens". The only other thing that got a bit annoying for me was the 3 retards of the show. They were to this show what Jar Jar Binks was to Star Wars, just a waste of a comedic relief character, and having 3 of them in this show isn't exactly a dream come true. But despite this I enjoyed the show, and I would definitely recommend this show if you just want a dumb show about a man fighting aliens with metal music.

Trigun is an anime adaptation of the manga by the same name. This western/sci-fi anime was produced by studio Madhouse, and aired from Apr 1 1998 to Sep 30 1998. It was directed by Satoshi Nishimura (Hajime no Ippo.)

There is an outlaw with a huge bounty of $$60,000,000,000 on him. His name is Vash the Stampede, also known as The Humanoid Typhoon. Legend say that everywhere he goes he destroys entire cities just for fun, and lays waste to everyone who oppose him. However, legend is often overexaggerated. Vash is actually a huge softie who easily cries, hates blood, and refuse to kill someone. He's ... travelling around with the two insurance agents Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, who's job is too minimize Vash's impact on the public, but can they do something about Vash's misfortune.

Vash the Stampede is the main character. He's a legendary outlaw who everyone fears and want nothing to do with, but in all actuallity he's just a softie who doesn't wanna hurt anyone.
Nicholas D. Wolfwood is a wandering priest who Vash and the insurance agents run across in the desert. He's trying to collect money for his orphanage by offering people confessions. He also carries around a huge cross on his back.
Meryl Stryfe is one of the two insurance agents from Bernadelli Insurance Society. She is a very serious person who values her work. She has a short temper, but she's a good person at heart.
Milly Thompson is the other insurance agent. She's Meryl's friend and assistant. She is very tall and physically strong, but she's also very simple and ditzy. She takes most things at face value, which in certain situations allows her to accept something as truth that others might not want to believe.

The animation in this show is honestly very poor. At no point can I say that this shows animation was good. It felt like they had production problems right from the get-go. It's sad to see that this show got that sort of treatment.

The music in this show is fantastic though. I loved it from opening to ending, and everything in between as well. I was not expecting the music to be as strong as it was, but it was a nice surprise.

Going into this show I had high expectations. Ever since I got into anime 4 years ago I've heard about this show and how fantastic it is. I've many times been told that since I like Cowboy Bebop I would love this show. But this show let me down big time. A lot of the events taking place in this story just felt so contrived. While I do like reasons behind things happening in a story, this show just felt like the reasons were an after-thought, and when it introduced it's villains it let me down even more. With Vash being a pacifist, the villain takes his role as the opposite to Vash was too seriously, and ends up feeling like a catroon villain. Now it's not just the villains I have issues with, I also have issues with Vash. He is just straight up annoying. Despite being a "badass" he's such a wimp, and his pacifist ways ends up creating so many problems, and his reasons for sticking to his ways are just way too weak for me. Annoyance aside though, the show does have some strong episodes as well. It's episodic nature allows it to try different things, and honestly, some of my favorite episodes in this show had nothing to do with Vash, but rather some of the other side characters in the show. I especially liked the episode with the old couple who's protecting their land from a dangerous man who wants to take their land and sell it.

Honestly, I wanted to like this show. I wanted to find my next Cowboy Bebop, but sadly this was not it. It's not horrible, but there are some moments where your patience will really be tasted. And taking everything this show did into concideration I do think this show is an ok watch. However, I would not recommend this show. There are much better shows out there, like Cowboy Bebop.

Tetsuwan Birdy (Birdy the Mighty) is a 4 episode sci-fi OVA by studio Madhouse. It's based off of a short manga called Tetsuwan Birdy by Masami Yuuki. It was released from July 25 1996 to Feb 25 1997, and the OVA was directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri (The Animatrix).

At the start of the story we meet Tsutomu Senkawa. He's just an average middle school kid studying for exams. As he goes outside to get some fresh air and something to drink to stress down from all his studying, some man runs into him and asks Tsutomu to hide him. Something is chasing this man and Tsutomu ... ends up being dragged into it. Turns out that this man is not a man at all, but rather an alien, and the thing that is chasing him is the Intergalactic Officer Birdy Cephon Altera. Tsutomu ends up being attacked in the confusion and killed by Birdy. The only way to revive Tsutomu is by having Birdy join Tsutomu's body. Now with Birdy in his own body, he gets dragged into a life of capturing criminals and saving lives.

Tsutomu Senkawa is our mian character. He's as blank slate and scared as they come, and the only things we know about him is that he's trying to get into high school. Other than that he's simply dragged around by Birdy, only being helpful when the situation requires something that is very rare on other planets, but extremely common on earth.
Birdy Cephon Altera is an alien who looks human. She is also an intergalactic officer who has come to earth to capture intergalactic criminals. She accidentally ends up killing Tsutomu when she's chasing down a criminal and ends up having to join his body to save him.

The animation in this OVA is very servicable, but falls just short of being good. The fight scenes are animated well enough that it's exciting to watch, and other moments are animated a lot less. It plays it very safe with it's animation, and while it doesn't exactly make it the most visually impressive show to watch, it does it's job well enough.

The music in this show I enjoyed. I thought it worked well with the show overall and I have no real complaints here.

Overall I have to say that I enjoyed this OVA. It was short and sweet. It got to the point very fast and still managed to make me interested in the situation and what was going on with the characters, with the exception of our main character as there just isn't that much to him in those 4 episodes. What I will say though, is that if this show suffers from one thing it's that while it mostly hits it's story beats without being too stupid or just plain uninteresting, there are moments where it goes 100% stupid for a few seconds. This is the case for two of the fights in the OVA where they end up having to be defeated by something that is very rare on other planets, but not that rare on earth. Things like detergent for example, or even electricity. I felt like this was a bit dumber than it needed to be, but overall it didn't ruin my enjoyment of this series. I would recommend this show if you're in a sci-fi mood and looking for something on the shorter side. And if you do end up enjoying this little OVA but you're still cracing more, you can always keep going with Birdy the Mighty Decode.

Slayers is a 26 episode adventure comedy TV anime produced by studio E&G Films. It was directed by Takashi Watanabe (Boogiepop Phantom) and aired from Apr 7 1995 to Sep 29 1995.

Set in a fantasy world filled with magic and monsters, we meet Lina Inverse. She's a powerful sorceress who's also known as the bandit killer. She's traveling the world stealing the stolen goods from bandits, meeting new people, and getting into all sorts of trouble. She ends up running into a swordsman named Gourry Gabriev who thinks he's helping out a little girl who's getting attacked by bandits. They end up forming a duo ... of sorts and sets out to travel the world. Where they are going, no one knows. Not even them.

Lina Inverse is of course our main character. She's a 15 year old sorceress in season 1 and has quite the temper and hunger. She practice dark magic which she uses to destroy her enemies.
The first person who ends up joining Lina on this little adventure is Gourry Gabriev. He's a powerful swordsman. However, he's also quite stupid and doesn't remember anything that doesn't involve food.
You've also got other characters like Zelgadis Graywords, and Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune who make up our main group.

The animation in this show leaves a lot to be desired. It has very few moments of stand out animation, and even the better animation is left for single attacks.

The music in the show was nothing to write home about either. It didn't do much to add to the show and was kinda just there so the show had music.

Overall I have to say that this show is not my cup of tea. I don't like the comedy on display in this series. It all feels very childish and not very funny. And as for the adventure part of the series, there isn't really that much to it. They are travellers who don't really have anywhere in particular they are planning to go, and no real goals. Things kinda just happen around them as they go and they get dragged into it. The show just feels empty, and there was not much enjoyment for me to get out of it. I would not recommend this show as I feel like there are other shows out there that are better than this.

Genocyber is a 5 episode OVA series that was released in 1994. It's based on a manga with the same name by Tony Takezaki. The manga only had 1 volume released and the story was never completed. The OVA was made by studio Artmic and directed by Koichi Ohata (MD Geist).

The nations of the world has started to merge. World peace is being threatened by individual corporations and their private armies. One of those companies, the Kuryu Group has discovered a powerful weapon that will tip the balance of power in their favor. They call it the Genocyber. It's a combination of cybernetics and psychic ... potential. Many desire to controll this monster, but can it really be controlled, or will the world be destroyed by it's powers.

This is where I normally talk about characters, but honestly there isn't really that much to say. We have our main character Elaine Reed who is the host of the Genocyber, and her sister Diana Reed who is used to control Elaine. Other than that there isn't anyone to shine any light on as characters are not really important to this story.

I have to talk a little about the acting in this OVA as well, cause it is down right some of the worst voice acting I've heard. Half of the time I don't even know if they are trying to act or if they are just reading their lines. Then when someone who does at least sound like they are trying show up, it makes you wonder why they even try.

The animation is ok with some quality drops here and there. Basically, all of the good animation comes during the gory death scenes. I would say the most interesting thing about this OVA visually is it's use of sketch art which you see mostly in pictures of on ID in this show. I can't say that it blends in perfectly with the rest, but it was a cool little experiment.

The music in this show was also very bad. It didn't fit in anywhere and honestly detracted from the entire experience. It's almost like it would have been better without any music in it what so ever.

Now despite having a lot of negative things to say, you'll probably be surprised to hear that I don't actually hate this OVA. It's dumb, and it's by no means good, but it's entertaining. What more can you really ask for from what's basically a B movie? But just like I said in my Violence Jack review, there is basically only one reason why you would watch Genocyber, and that is for it's incredibly gory deaths. That is the only thing this OVA delivers on 100% and if you're into really violent B movies like this, you're gonna get a kick out of Genocyber.
