Overall 9.0/10: Best laugh ever in movie, so good that I cry at the end.
This is movie is 3rd installment of KonoSuba, direct sequel to second season therefore you should see both seasons first to understand every characters and jokes. But actually, if you watch only 1st season you will get almost 90% of jokes and minor spoiler didn’t matter that much.
.
[Funny as ever + tight pacing = I became maniac 1.5 hr straight]
-Starting with character being themselves jokes, it’s like “Yeah we are doing KonoSuba now”
-Go straight to main plot quick, they were going to visit Koma village, Megumin(Best girl)’s hometown and everyone there
...
are all Crimson Demon, crazily powerful and Chuunibyou.
-Jokes escalated from one to next and next. There some repeated jokes and not funny sometime, which is normal, but they give another one quick don’t let you have any down time.
-Voice acting was good as ever
-My main complaint with jokes is there are too much rape and sex jokes which I didn’t mind them individually but do it like every 10-20 min kinda too much (Contexts are different, so it didn’t repetitive and I laugh every time anyway)
.
[Smooth animation, faces are fluid as ever]
-When I heard that JC.staff doing this movie instead of Deen, I thought design might change. In reality, not at all since director was the same. Plus with more fluid and smooth animation.
-If you don’t like how faces were drawn in TV series, you won’t like them in this movie too.
-99% of budget for EXPLOSIONNNNNNNNN, yeah fight scene in this movie is best of KonoSuba. Super hype than ending of both seasons.
[“Be true to yourself”, not only laugh but also heart]
-Ending of 2nd season was somewhat Aqua arc. This movie is full brown Megumin arc. We got more back story on Megumin and Yunyun and their relationship in the past.
-Real appeal of KonoSuba girl is they were so shitty that they can’t be more to themselves that this.
-At climax, there was drama about Megumin feel guilty for being selfish for improve explosion magic rather than other magic that help others she cares. Although resolution was pretty obvious, but I cry anyway. That how much these characters meaningful despite being shitty and stupid.
.
[Who should watch this?]
-Anyone who like KonoSuba. This is KonoSuba in it’s best form. That’s it.
-For anyone who read to this point without knowledge of KonoSuba, it’s best isekai comedy, RPG game parody with stupid broken party and main hero how also asshole but love gender equality, true man. Just keep it a shot.

Review up to 4th episode
"On point with visual style but story is yet to be sure"
This review expect you to have already watch OG Madoka TV series because I will mainly compare with it since most of pros and cons can be roughly explain by how staff was changed. Haven’t watch OG Madoka Magica? Why would you roaming around some spin-off anime review here rather than watch a masterpiece of anime now????
[Absence of Director Shinbo, Rising of Gekidan Inu Curry]
- Inu Curry was the team who done cut paper style Witch’s labyrinth in OG series and movies. They had director debut in Magia Record….
...
Result is visual is amazing as expected.
- Although good scene layout and clever color using (and Head Tilt) are missing, all weird creepy and cryptic sense of Witch’s labyrinth now expanded though out the episode, even outside Witch’s labyrinth. There are more symbolism and text in background to decode. Overall, I’m impressed with visual.
- But directing overall might not perfect. Some scene is too fast to follow, some too slow. Fight scene sometimes confusing and end too quick but again overall is ok.
- Oh, and transformation scene is super amazing! They are cool and tell a lot about each character in mean of symbolism. Expect for more symbolism and literatures’ references everywhere.
[Absence of Urobuchi Gen --> Less moral dilemma, more mystery]
- Inu Curry also in charge of series composition. I didn’t play mobile game, so I didn’t know what was changed.
- Story so far is focus on finding Iroha’s litter sister and “Rumors”. It’s more on mysteries and character drama. Inu Curry also wrote backstory for each Witch in OG Madoka (with all literature reference) so it's make scece if he will more likely to focus on those thing.
- Well… ok OG Madoka is dark but not That Dark. What original series composition, Urobuchi Gen, talent for was tight and engaging exposition and bringing difficult moral dilemmas on discussion table like Psycho-pass or Fate/Zero… Magia Record has none of that…. AT ALL. If these are mainly why you love OG Madoka, don’t expect from Magia Record (for now)
[Absence of Yuki Kajiura, Music is good… for 50%?]
At very first scene they used OST from original series. Very good nostalgia tactic there. But it’s kinda show how much they didn’t confident in new OST
[Gacha Game Adaptation Trap… didn’t escape]
-1st episode is still okay since they focus on main heroine. But right after that, flow of massive flashy characters is poured in few episodes. They meant to be side characters but different in how flashy they are and how we care about them could worsen story tension overall.
- And… oh god Iroha is so boring!!! Even Urobuchi really suck at character writing he can still make Madoka relatable character in 2 episodes despite being so useless. Well.. in 4th episode I have feeling that they intentionally make Iroha bland and we supposed to related to how empty is she now but still not interesting way to do it.
.
[Who should watch]
Watching for Madoka art style might already satisfied someone. Story so far focus on mystery and decoding symbolism. Not for anyone who want intriguing plot, not yet at least. I will continue watching.

9.2/10 “Real” Iyashikei Anime about solo and group camping
[What this anime really about?]
Further than synopsis, which basically summary of episode 1, this anime is just about camping and prepare for next camping. No drama. No conflict. No goal. Some might group this with other cute-girl-doing-cute-thing anime and all girls are actually very cute and jokes they delivery are super entertain for me, but, Yuru Camp is more about relaxing, good scenery and absorb all warmth and joy through characters….. and also, foods
[Present camping experience beautifully]
- Every camping site is real and presented very beautifully. So many details in every scene to make it more live
...
in.
- Director and his team had try camping and make food as the original manga before making this anime to get sense of each place and taste.
- OSTs are always match with every scene without overwhelm it.
- Animation quality is consistent throughout the season.
[Voice performance really delivery ‘joyfulness’]
- Characters are already loveable, and perfect voice acting really make them unique from one another. Nadeshiko’s excitement. Rin’s introvert but cute inner voice. Inuyama’s Kansai dialect which weirdly please to hear.
- Narrator voice is cool, usually explain knowledge and food recipe. Not annoying at all.
- Most importantly they all sound so joyful that you will also feel it, esp. when the eat food!
[Enjoy alone or with everyone]
- This anime meant to be something you watch and enjoy as you watch as much as possible. But thematic point of this anime as a whole probably how introvert and extrovert enjoy camping.
- While most cute girl animes are about making friend and enjoy together, Yuru Camp has a lot of Rin’s solo camping which relatable for someone who like travel alone and show how being alone is also fun and still being connected.
[Slow pacing could be a downside]
- Some might find this anime slow if jokes don’t click.
- Yama no Susume, mountain climbing anime, is very similar to Yuru camp that worth whole article to compare them. In short, Yuru Camp is so relaxing to the point it don’t feel challenge or achievement.
[Verdict: Who should watch?]
- Who like travelling, relaxing or iyashikei anime would love Yuru Camp. Rare anime that warm up your heart without dramatic story.
-It’s cute and fun enough if looking for cute anime girl
- This anime is more on experiencing goodness, not thought provoking or lasting impression. 9/10 for enjoyment, even 3rd or 4th times on the same episode I still enjoy it.
- 2nd episode is most representative how whole anime is, therefore good place to try and decide whether Yuru Camp is your thing or not.
This is my first (English) MAL review. My style is to highlight out what I find most interesting to say about. I do not like 6 categories style and I hope you find this helpful and easy to digest.
