When you trust someone and get to know them, you eventually learn about their wounds, too. – Mei Tachibana
I was unsure about this anime-still am. Honestly, this isn't about real love...it's more about finding yourself and where you fit in society which in this case is high school. I think everyone will love this anime as we all were once the awkward, unsociable girl/guy...so it is relatable.
Art-9/10
I actually loved it...the male characters were weirdly attractive and of course the animation was interesting in every episode.
Sounds-7/10
It was cutely cheesy...the theme song was beautiful and colorful at the same time. Ironic because the main female
...
character is anything but colorful.
Character-8/10
Yamato's character was astonishing as he broke the stereotypical pretty boy story we expect. As this character showed us that everyone has problems despite their appearance and status...which was refreshing. Also, Mei wasn't the typical beautiful heroin...she was quite the opposite: insecure, pessimistic and ordinary. Thus the character development was beautiful as you would see how each of them grow due to the influence of the other so I liked it.
Relationship 4/10- This part I did not like...13 episodes and you already love each other?! Come on. I just felt it was very fantastical and compared to the characters it was a let down and way too far illogical. Furthermore, their 'love' for each had so many holes you had to cringe-the bad communications, secrets and the short months they have actually had a serious 'relationship'. I just couldn't see the genuine love there...yes crush but not the sacred word love. No way. Itazura na kiss feels like heaven comparing the love.
Overall-6/10
It was a great anime but I wouldn't rewatch it like I do with Itazura na Kiss. As it felt like a slice of life and two people trying to find their identity and place in society.

"Tsubasa, Tsubasa, Tsubasa!"...I get it he's out of everyone's league.
I am a late anime bloomer which is why I started giving this anime a chance since I am a huge, sports anime fan.
Art-6/10
I completed Slam Dunk so the art wasn't that hard to get used to, but the expressions the characters had wasn't good to look at to be honest...they were starting to look the same after few episodes to the point you'll be confused on which one is which half of the time-and that is hard!
Sound-6/10
Again I need to understand when this anime was created which was in the late
...
1980s as a result the sounds weren't the best and the songs were the same but it was a good effort...I kind of like it at some points of the episodes.
Character- 5/10
I was disappointed the main character had no development throughout. You only see Tsubasa real personality when he's playing...he is always smiling and laughing so it is hard to build a connection-first time saying this. It was a huge let down...you never really saw his personality if he wasn't the main focus I myself would have thought he was insignificant. However, the other main characters were funny and you could see their own individual personality. Furthermore, Tsubasa never had a different expression regardless if he's playing or not.
Enjoyment- 5/10
It was decent enough especially if your bored and don't have any good animes to watch although I will not recommend this to anymore below 14.

(No spoilers-just a review to weight if you might waste your time).
If you are bored and don't have any anime related to actions and sports to watch...then I recommend you to watch this anime if you like a dull guy who meets a popular, bad boy that changes his life drastically.
I personally can tell what anime is the DEAL...While the other is 'that' anime...this is that anime. I loved the main character, he was beautifully normal but the other characters's development was a bit of a problem...the understanding wasn't there. However, it is not a crap anime like High school days...Made me go loco.
...
As it has a strong and amazing plot...especially involving music and the potential of a character's natural gift. But it sadly ended there for me...I am simple girl who loves actions and drama and a bit of a fresh anime...but the characters besides the main character was too unrealistic and young...even though I just turned 16. Anyway give it a try...some things might surprise you :). xx

" Hime Hime Hime, suki suki daisuki Hime Hime, kira kirarin" -I already love this anime song.
9/10
This anime is simply all about getting out of your comfort zone and experiencing the world on what it has to offer. However, Sakamichi Onoda is awkward , appearance wise is not so good and has no friends. And just because of a habit he continuously does changes him as a character and his life. From a reader's point of view, I already love his genuineness which other characters do as well.
Thus I advise everyone who loves generally anime to try this anime out. As the
...
characters develop and your there experiencing this whole process...it is truly amazing.Furthermore, the anime interestingly questions you as a person on your habits and interests by getting out of your comfort zone and taking on challenges and having FUN!
"It's fun climbing together!" - Sakamichi Onoda

"The only important thing about a low probability is... it's NOT ZERO." -Toua Tokiuchi
For short, If you like a strong character that is intelligent who is not wussy and annoying...then you will LOVE THIS ANIME!
*NO SPOILERS*
Toua Tokuchi:
-Ruthless-Mentally exhausts and scares the opponents with interesting psychology
...
-Experienced =FINALLY nothing like the other anime where the inexperienced dramatically improves...>.>>>I could go on but if you want a refresher with no girls the main character is pleasing and sacrificing for e.g, Over drive, Naruto Shippuden (I love the anime but HATE Sakura) then this is an excellent anime!
"Winning is about making your opponents lose, making them taste defeat, crushing a fallen opponent, kicking them when they're down, rubbing salt into a gaping wound. 'Winning is about trampling over corpses. 'It's not beautiful, it's BRUTAL."
