Minor spoiler warning, I'll keep the spoilers for the good parts to a minimum. (Mostly spoilers for the show, if you've seen that you're good)
If you liked spyxfamily you will love this movie no doubt, skip this, go watch it when you can.
I found the story very well put together, it gives a light recap (Witch seems to be a common thing in the show anyway) and once more a case where Anya, Loid and Yor were all given one disaster and had to solve it separately without each other finding out about their identity. I find that's really where these characters shine, and that

was no expectation here. If you like watching Loid get overly panicked over nothing, Yor freaking out because she is applying incorrect information or Anya being adorable you'll love it.
Major spoilers from here (Sort of a movie summary, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE MOVIE)
This is my one major complaint.
Anya eats a chocolate in the early half, gets kidnapped and they wait until she "defecates" to try to get the microfilm. To which the movie creates a character in Anya's head named the "poop god". Showing scenes of gilded toilet fountains and stuff, it was a little much in my opinion, and if you didn't find the joke funny (like I did) just served to make you uncomfortable with how overdone it is.
Other than that, Anya's mission for the best dessert for the cooking competition at her school clashing with Loid's mission to save Operation Strix, and Yor's mission to make sure Loid isn't cheating on her, is a great combo.
Anya has to make the dish with Loid still pushing her as if the world is at stake (Because it kind of is), Loid having to take on another mission to get the microfilm clashing with Yor as she's watching his every move as he's trying to be a lot more careful, and Anya eating the microfilm meaning Loid is literally tailing Anya without knowing is a great set up.
The payoff, is a kidnapped Anya, Loid crashing a plane into the side of their airship with Yor sneaking aboard to help save Anya.
Again, I did not like Anya's part of this, so we'll skip it.
Loid's part, starts at the restaurant he takes Anya to so she can try the principal's favourite dessert. This military officer storms in and asks for the same dessert Anya ordered, the one they had travelled all this way for. The officer steals the dessert and plays a game with Loid, promising that if Loid can guess what type of sugar each dessert is made of, he can take the dessert back untouched. The officer bests Loid in this one. I like that this happens and wish to see Loid fail at more things other than obvious parts, he's on a line of being a tiny bit dehumanized with how skilled he is. This certainly took that feeling down a notch. Unable to get the dessert back they start to look for the ingredients so the chef can make the same dish, as the restaurant had run out of those ingredients. This leads to a very cute scene of the family going to a festival looking for the ingredients in the market, playing festival games as well as Loid and Yor going on the Ferris wheel the ending of this once more a great exaggeration of how wacky this found family is. Once Anya gets kidnapped, Loid takes a plane to try to save her, unable to land on the airship, due to them opening fire on him, he crashes into the side of the ship. Sneaking aboard, getting onto the bridge and getting caught, helping to emphasize the point I made earlier (Loid becoming dehumanized from being over-skilled) seeing the same military officer from the restaurant catch his disguise, and open fire is simply amazing to watch. It brings a new sense of panic once he's caught that you weren't expecting since you expected him to get through without a hitch and then only have trouble when walking away with Anya, but he doesn't even get far. It's suddenly exhilarating. He takes on the disguise of the one military officer who was able to see through his disguise and is then playing an exact copy of him, as everyone in the room stops their fire trying to figure out which one is that fake. Loid takes him down, and now the commander of the ship gets everyone to evacuate, rescuing Anya.
I think this ark for him is perfect, having the right amount of tests and trials with the right pay off and is generally inventive.
Yor seems to take a back seat here. I feel like she could have been pulled in a little better. Here is how her story goes. Early on in the story, Yor goes onto the roof at her workplace with her co-works. As they're telling her she wouldn't know if Loid was cheating on her until it was too late, listing the signs that might lead her to divorce. She sees Loid have an interaction with Midnight that Yor mistakes for a kiss, during this scene, with a sudden concern for her family. She starts watching Loid closely. Checking in the boxes, trying to match his behaviour to what she was told, thinking he might be cheating. Then after the Ferris wheel scene, this is all cleared up, and completely ditched. I get that she trusts him and it's good communication-wise and if the Ferris wheel scene was at the end I'd have no problems, but it doesn't. It takes place in the middle, meaning Yor problem is started, solved thirty minutes later, and then she's sort of ignored in terms of plot. She's still there, she still affects the plot but now she's a side character and feels less important than Loid or Anya. I find this happens a lot in the show, Yor acting unusually stupid in contrast with Loid's intelligence, and having very few redeeming qualities other than loving Anya (I mean this is like the 5th time Anya has gotten into trouble because Yor left her side :| The one time Loid left her side it was so Anya could help disarm bombs and it wasn't his fault she got in trouble =-=) Anyways..... complaints for the show left in brackets aside, Yor could really use some love from the plot. Instead, she gets a sick-ass fight scene where she burns a robot guy with lipstick, clever, but not quite what I want to see to fill in the gaps in her character. Also, she sets the ship on fire! Whoops! And now the whole thing is crashing to the ground, I'm a little surprised no one bothered to put that out. I think seeing Yor take a few seconds to try to help put out the fire might have been funny because if the ship crashed Anya and Loid die too? I mean I'd be trying to put out the fire once it's started, but maybe that's just me.
Then lastly Anya, post being kidnapped seeing her smack her head on the metal tube to alert Loid in the final moments was very smart. On the other hand, the whole pop god thing put me off her story. I wish she had done more over the time she was, being a telepath or something maybe she could have tried to put out the fire? Or something? Not sure, just feels like missed potential.
Either way, I found the movie to be a very clever adaptation, and I would highly recommend watching it.
