(Pulls out thesaurus to write an apparent intellectual review as if I am writing the Michelin Guide)...
Just kidding. So working off the presumption that if you're looking at this page you must have at least a minor interest in anime with romantic flavor, let me give you a breakdown different from the dronings of everyone complaining how dark/dramatic/sad it is. I have seen quite a few romantic anime in my time and regardless of how you feel about the theme, this is a breath of fresh air. I will tell you right away that this isn't Ore Monogatari or Sukitte Ii na yo, and thank
...
God for that. Not that I didn't enjoy those stories, but the endless trope of clueless characters oblivious to their feelings and the feelings of others is exhausting. I'm pretty sure by the age of 7 everyone can fully comprehend things/people they do and do not like. Kuzu no Honkai is not a pleasant ride, and thats why it's so great.
I'm honestly not sure if anyone who didn't to some degree enjoy this has actually ever been in a relationship. Feelings are complicated, and life doesn't just go 'happily ever after' as soon as your feelings are reciprocated. Even good relationships have their problems, and there are going to be significantly more heartbreaks in life than fairy tails. We often forget that in life we experience unrequited love more often that not, and at the end of the day just 'being happy that they're happy' often isn't how we truly feel. The story of Kuzu no Honkai is raw in regard to emotion, thats not to say that it doesn't have its plot holes or poor writing, but the fact that it tackles a side of the human psyche that most ignore is something to be commended. Selfishness and selflessness are often seen as antiparallel, but is that always the case? Is what you want truly what you need, and is what you need good for you?
I won't bore you with recounting a synopsis, you can read that on your own. In regards to the characters, I personally love them. They are borderline despicable the majority of the time, but in truth if everyone could hear your actual thoughts throughout the day would every thought be something that isn't hurtful, rude, or insulting? These characters take the typical anime tropes (e.g. tsundere) and toss them into real life situations. They all have selfish motives, but find ways to redeem themselves through acts they they believe to be self sacrificing. This series depicts how what you want, and what you think your dreams incarnated would be like, may be your worst nightmare.
In regards to art, it's modern. In regards to sound, ask an audiophile.
If you couldn't tell I enjoyed it immensely, because it goes so much against the grain of typical romance anime, even if it utilizes cheap ploys to accomplish it. Honestly, my true rating would be somewhere around a 7.8/10, but I am really going to enjoy irritating all the anime 'connoisseurs' by giving it a 9/10.

Kill la kill. Essentially an entire story based around clothing or the lack thereof. At first glance this sounds like a horrible plot to some crappy ecchi story you find in the back room of your local movie rental place. But the fact that Kill la Kill has this premise and yet rises above and beyond the stereotype is something to be admired.
Story- 9/10 - As noted, this story follows Ryuuko Matoi and her journey of revenge, with clothing that allows people to have special powers. The action aspect of this series is non-stop, fighting scenes with blood gushing from severed limbs like old faithful
...
happen at least once every episode or two. To counter act this blood bath is an immature but surprisingly funny comedy aspect that interjects in the story at the most random and hilarious times. However, with all of these themes we still haven't looked at the most amazing part of this story. Kill la kill is an over the top-ecchi-violent-comedy that manages to be "tastefully distasteful." The story has deep moments of friendship, family, and overcoming adversity that truly gets the audience to dig deep into the meaning. Literally the only personal problem I had with the story is the ecchi element, but that is just a personal preference.
Art/Sound - 9/10 - I hate to be one of those reviewers that gives every aspect of a show a high rating just because I liked it, but kill la kill is just this deserving. The artwork in this series is unique because it is very modern, but still gives tribute to classic anime styling. The CG elements weren't too obvious and the deep contrasts of coloring and scene styles allowed a very pleasant visual experience. The sound of this series was very unique as well. With emotion inciting background music for battle scenes, to great ops and endings, I thought the sound was very appropriate and enjoyable.
Character - 10/10 - Kill la Kill has everything a story needs for good characters. A lead protagonist that goes through an amazing amount of development and struggles. Villains that are so good at being sinister you can't decide to cheer for them or against them. Supporting characters that make you laugh and make you cry. Truly if nothing else is to be understood about Kill la Kill know this, you won't find a cast of characters this complementary but once every decade.
Enjoyment - 8/10
Overall - 9/10 - Kill la Kill should just be commended on how incredible it was for the writers to create such a great story with such a dumb plot idea. I haven't been this blown away since I first saw the movie "fight club." Regardless of your personal tastes I think kill la kill has something for everyone, an enjoyable high octane plot with lovable (and delightfully detestable) characters. I wouldn't recommend this for younger viewers, but for anyone else who has the slightest inkling to watch this, I promise you won't regret it.
Thanks for reading! - @animaniablog

When I first heard of golden time I thought it was an answered prayer, a drama/romance with a setting in college that had the potential to more serious and realistic than its high school counterparts. I loved the plot idea of the main character losing his memories and saw a lot of potential for later plot twists.
Story - 7/10 As mentioned earlier I loved this setting and premise of this series. A college setting with 24 episodes to build a good drama, and hopefully have some major character development in the process. The plot itself was also pretty well laid out, as expected from the
...
creator of Toradora, with a good balance of drama and comedy. However, something just felt missing throughout the story. My biggest complaint, without giving any spoilers, is the fact that some of the major characters weren't likable enough. You feel like the story is pulling you towards a heart wrenching and joyous ending, but it really turned out to pretty mediocre and full of plot holes.
Art/Sound 6/10 The art and sound of this series were pretty average especially considering some of the other series premiering at the same time. It wasn't bad by any means, but at times it felt hazy and the color contrast looked very dull. As for the music, I thought the 2nd op was absolutely annoying, and the other tracks in the series were okay at best.
Characters- 9/10 Aside from the great setting the true jewel of this series is the characters. They are all very unique and even the supporting roles show a great deal of character development. The only draw back in this section is the limbo of the main character's thoughts and motives. Their indecisiveness throughout the story doesn't create more drama, it just makes the plot drag a lot for two episodes while they make up their mind.
Enjoyment/Overall- 7/10 Honestly I was pretty disappointed in "GoldenTime" especially after the first half of the series was so good. I feel like the writers were afraid of pushing the envelope and finished out the second half of the story in a very generic way. Sorry to say it but this is nothing but Toradora's awkward sibling and is an insult to be compared to Clannad AS. If you're considering this, I might suggest you just check out "Nagi-Asu" from this showing season instead.

The perfect balance of spiritual conflict and slice of life comedy.
Story - 8/10 Noragami is another installation of a trend of recent series that are trying to incorporate youkai battle plots with a light hearted slice of life/comedy/romance element, and surprisingly Noragami is able to pull it off. Without giving away any spoilers, the story is quite unique because it is able to find a great balance between series scenes and funny moments. The drama and action are enough to keep you enticed, and the RomCom isn't so overbearing that the side stories take away from the main plot. The only part of the story
...
I didn't care for was Yukine's arc. I thought it was a bit too dramatic and lasted too long, but if you can get over his annoying immaturity for a few episodes the rest of the series is great.
Art- 8/10 the artwork of Noragami is pretty good, with a unique op and closing to boot. The fighting scenes aren't over done, the scenery has great detail, and all the characters have unique characteristics compared to the typical anime types.
Character -10/10 The best part of Noragami is the characters, literally the only one that wasn't a 10/10 was Yukine. However, I realize he had to have more drastic development than other characters so I'm still giving this section a 10/10
Enjoyment/Overall - 8/10 overall I thought Noragami was a great series, and has a lot to offer everyone. It is funny, exciting, and heartfelt at times without having too many filler episodes. My only complaints are the distribution of episodes to certain arcs, and the fact that the series itself is only 12 episodes. I feel that if it had been given 25 or so, there would have been more time for better plot development and the ending wouldn't have felt so rushed. But alas 12 is all we get, and I would recommend this series to anyone, and especially those who like sword play and spiritual world genres.

I like to compare "Inari Konkon" with a person's first love, it's beautiful but really awkward.
Story- 6/10 Inari is your typical slice of life RomCom with a dash of supernatural tossed in. The biggest problem with the story is it tries to have too many themes, is it a romance? A comedy? About friendship? Who really knows, and most of these themes don't really play out other than friendship. The romance element was very lacking, and for a series that I supposed to be centered around romance they didn't spend much time on the relationships at all. If you're looking for a slice of
...
life or romance, you're better off looking elsewhere.
Art - 9/10 the artwork was one of the only reasons I kept watching this series, it is very well done. All the shrine work and landscapes are absolutely beautiful. Character designs aren't anything special, but they're unique enough to be something special, especially since the story is so generic.
Sound - 8/10 lots of traditional japanese music played throughout the series and a very catchy op. Sometimes the sound tracks did get a bit repetitive but I like then enough it didn't bother me.
Characters -6/10 the characters of thinks series are kind of over dramatic, I really like Uka, but most of the other characters were simple and pretty forgettable.
Enjoyment/overall - 7/10 Inari Konkon was a little too short, and a little too shallow to be truly great. It's quite unfortunate because it's artwork it's so phenomenal that it almost hurts that it's wasted on such a mediocre plot. If you skipped this one you wouldn't be missing out on much, but if you're looking for a decently quick story about friendship with great art, give it a shot!

First let me disappoint most of you who only saw the trailer without any prior knowledge. The trailer is the whole series, this was just a commercial campaign by "Z-Kai". Granted with huge names like a Makoto Shinkai and Masayoshi Tanaka it is a bit disappointing that we only get 119 seconds of amazement and joy.
I put the story 6/10 only because it's essentially a commercial and not a story at all, if this project were to be adapted to a full blown storyline I think it could have a lot of potential, but alas this is all we have.
Per Shinkai's other work (Garden of
...
Words,Children with lost voices, etc...) the art work is simply amazing. It's almost worth the two minutes of your life just to be blown away by how amazing the art work is.
I won't comment on the sound too much because of how short this work is and because the art work demands most of your attention most probably won't notice the sound unless watched again.
The characters seem to have a lot of potential, of course we only get to see a glimpse into their lives, but they're so intriguing that I am legitimately sad that "Cross Road" isn't an actual full scale series. My enjoyment was 9.5/10 (only because it's so short *cries*) but I highly recommend everyone watch this. If only we had commercials like this is the States!

**This review includes "Kokoro Connect: Michi Random" (last four episodes)**
Kokoro connect is a very refreshing take on your typical RomCom story that is very unique to itself. I consider myself pretty well versed when it comes to the romance genre, so when I say this is one of my favorites I want to stress how significant that is. I wouldn't consider this to be a "cutesy" series, that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling of budding love and anticipation of the coming confession. Minus the supernatural aspect, the interpersonal realtionships are very realistic, which I love.
Story 9/10 - I know a perfect score for the
...
story seems a bit over-kill and you probably thing I'm being biased because I like this series so much. However, Kokoro Connect is able to tie in so many thought provoking concepts and ideas while still keeping the audiences attention. One of the best aspects of this story is how funny it is, I loved how one minute you feel like you could cry and the next you were laughing your head off. The only real issue I have with the story is the last arc, and not because I don't think it is good, but I feel that it should have been earlier in the story.
Art 7/10 - Nothing special here, very traditionally animated (which I enjoy since I'm "old school"). Colors were good, don't remember any eye-popping computer generated animation off the top of my head. I don't think this will by any means impress anyone from an art persective, but it fulfills its purpose by having good color and distiguishable lines.
Sound 7/10 - Just like the art, no notable OST music or score. Voice acting was very good, characters were engaging and not monotone. I watched the subbed version obviously, but I saw that the dub will be released soon so I would love to hear the dubbed acting. Overall the sound didn't distract from the story, so I give it a "good" 7/10.
Character 9/10 - I was very tempted to put 10/10 on the characters, because they are what makes this series. I liked how the male characters were very realistic, and not the typical oblivious and unrealisticly nice guys. Taichi in particular, because he is the quote "good guy" in the series but his personal faults and short comings make him a relatable character. The girls are also very well developed characters. Iori is probably my least favorite character, not because of her contribution to the story, but because I don't feel she developed much for how much time was spent on her. Like most fan boys, Inaba is one of my favorite female characters of all time. He balance of intellect/tsundere mixed with flirty/funny is very rare and works well for her role in the story.
Enjoyment 10/10 - Like I said earlier, this is one of my favorite series. I laughed, I (almost) cried, and felt like I was there with the characters as they developed and progressed through the story. I know that Kokoro Connect is such a diverse series, incorportating romance/drama/humor/science fiction(?) all in one, and this might turn people away. But, if I had to keep only five animes and never watch any others again, this would easily be one of those five.
Overall 9/10 - Anyone who likes RomComs or enjoys a good laugh, would be the first people I would suggest this to. But honestly I wish that everyone would at least give it a chance, and who knows? You may fall in love with it too.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Anohana: The flower we saw that day.) Felt like an attempt to recreate a story and emotions very similar to the almighty Clannad-AS, and the good news is that it does.
With lighthearted humor one minute, and tears rolling the next, I felt like Anohana was the perfect blend of fantasy and reality. While the circumstances of her being a ghost are very fictional, the scenarios and feelings of all the characters are very real and are conveyed wonderfully to the audience.
I am usually a person who doubts the ability of a series to tell
...
any kind of story with depth in less than 12 episodes, but Anohana does it in 11. Art work is beautiful yet simple, and the intro credits are probably one of my favorites I've ever seen.
For all of you out there who are "dub" people like myself, don't let the fact that this is subbed turn you away from this great story. I promise you that making the effort to experience Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai, will be well worth your effort.
