Happy Sugar Life isn't a good series. Having interesting ideas or main characters' designs don't mean you can bypass any criticizing about your bad directions, horrible story pacing, awful dialogues, nonsensical progressions and back and forth developments. Even though, the ideas and designs alone can make many viewers feeling impressive and satisfy so much that they say this is the best psychology-horror-thriller-action series of the year. criticizing part that will butcher the horribleness of this series later.
Main casts both small one and pink hair one are very well presented and designed in a way that can make interesting story progressions and developments. Both characters have very interesting dynamical and back stories along out the entire serie. What the serie want to archive about the love and relationship are extremely successful today. I won't be surprised if someone say they only watch Happy Sugar Life because of these two characters. The sweet moments. The sad moments. The decision moments. The hardness moments. The lovely moments. All of these are the most interesting in Happy Sugar Life. But sadly, there are just only small parts of the series that really show the aspects of relationship between these main casts. Also, family domestic violence and their influences in this serie are very well presented. Some people may say these are also the cringe and edgy parts of the series. But I kind of disagree as if we only discuss about main casts now, these aspects of presentation really do their best in building and creating backstories and personality for main casts. Small one is really good in portraying the role of child who having hard mental issues and nearly go insane, which later meet with pink hair one who also having family issues about anyone treat her only an object. (This is the bad part of the story not because pink hair's role but because other support characters' role) When pink hair and small one meet each others, the dynamical and sharing of love, pain, sweetness, and warmth between these two characters can be seen in such a wonderful way.
Others than what I say above, everything in this serie are badly designed, terribly executed and weirdly used. Let's discuss about the things that make this serie completely unwatchable and I don't want to recommend this serie to anyone based my opinion.
1.) About the basic plot execution problem such as it doesn't make sense, it just kind of happened and it can tell you but it won't the series. Characters and events are purposely being stupid and hypocrite as much as possible with no sole purpose or reason to do it. This serie has a lot of conveniences for characters and events to meet in order for plot progression without any subtlety. Last but not least, the way mysterious theme work is that it's the type of series where it won't let viewers to know or understand anything until it reach at some point. Viewers don't even need to think and predict anything along out the series. Nothing give any clues and informations at all.
2.) Overall, I don't personally like the morals of this series. I feel like this serie is some kind of bias. Everything born and design to be bad. No good deed person or voice of a reason at all in this series. Every plots and scenes have to reflect unnecessary amount of dark story in our societies without any redemptions or ways to reflect the other sides of coins. (good side of the world and society) Also, main morals and stories in each episodes almost look the same for the most of times. The story always begin with MC meeting with some crazy guys, problems occur not so long after that, mystery (plot) begin to reveal with annoying trauma and PTSD sequences and end with cliffhangers where viewer don’t actually know what are actually conclusions and morals.
3.) Around 80% of the dialogues are actually pretty horrible. For instance, these dialogues are annoying and ruin the atmosphere of well directed story pacing. Many characters talk nonsense and repeat what they’re actually said and think in the previous minutes for no reason. Also these dialogues are pointless and telling nothing important to the story at all. Viewers can easily tell the story even if their ears close but the serie are still needlessly to tell things they notice from the background or presentation or hidden message again which ruin the mystery and complication of the plot later.
4.) Repetition of a lot of presentations and storytellings in each scenes and episodes are kind of annoying and irritation most of the time because they’re telling things viewers already seen and known for so many times with the sole purpose of showing characters and plot tones’ frustration, depression, fear, psychological factors and other negative emotions which later (kind of) destroy the creativity and uniqueness of presentations and storytellings style in both short and long runs. This can be very boring as nothing significantly going on and consume a lot of viewing times.
5.) I personally don't like how this serie handle the supporting characters at all. This serie has one of the worst supporting characters’ design during the entire year. Characters’ designs and their roles are so obnoxiously pandering to the maximum limit. Every single one of them are so much stereotypical and born to be bad (or weirdly good) person without any subtlety, building or even a reasons why they are so bad nothing good coming from them to begin with. They are shape-shifting characters where they can be anything in order to satisfy viewers or built the plot in the most convenient way possible. No dynamic. No redemption. Nothing in these characters. Around 90% of the entire casts are useless, has no impact and built significantly nothing in order for plot and story developments and progressions. Most of the cast are there so the serie could have a ‘plot’ for main cast to do something. Cutting them out from the serie would change nothing in the meanings, progressions and conclusions.
And that is actually how I feel about Happy Sugar Life. Sometime, it is such a bittersweet feeling for us to actually believe that good main characters like small one and pink hair are ruined by pretty much everything in the series. That is unfortunate. In the end, I can't base the series by two characters alone. I don't watch Happy Sugar Life just for 2-3 episodes in the beginning and in the end. I watch all of them. This will be a useless viewing experience if I watch this series only for those two right ? So in the future, what is the difference between watching this series and reading a fan fiction then ? I think Happy Sugar Life should be Happy Sugar Life. Not Small One and Pink Hair life stories.
The final score is 2/10. 2 comes from the two main casts, small one and pink hair one. Cutting 8/10 because those elements of bad directions and terrible designs are unacceptable and ruining my days of enjoying the lovely cringe cliche' and edgy yuri couple.

This series is a very bad sport series.
Honestly, based on the ideas and quality productions alone cannot make this series to be an interesting or even watchable. Personally, I like nothing in this series starting from plots, ideas, characters, pacing, tones, dialogues, progressions and developments. This is one of most pandering and corny sport series I have ever seen for a while. It feel like I'm not even watching sport or let alone the series itself. Everything look fan service to me.

like or love to play it anymore. They only play sport for winning which in my opinion isn't the purpose or goal of sport itself.
Ideas that having weirdly morals about you can being a jerk and having no sportsmanship to everyone but if you are good at sport or you feel some kind of sorry, everyone will forgive and forget what you do even though they have no reason to.
Characters that are mostly confused because they don't know how to separate sport logic form life logic. You don't have to win every time or have to be the best at it. You can be yourself and happy to do the thing you like. If you don't feel like to play sport, just quit it. It's not like badminton is only occupation in the world right ?
The pacing and tones that keep going back and forth as director doesn't know how to direct other type of tones and pacing rather than drama and sport that only smack their shuttlecock to each others' face with no plan or strategy. (except the very last match between main character in final episodes which some kind worth to watch)
Dialogues that totally horrible as everyone always speak aggressively to each other and keep complain about how life so bad in a metaphoric way.
These are brief examples of the problems why this series is so bad in my opinion. Now let's get into the detail explanations.
1.) I don't like how this series present the ideas of badminton or sport at all. The ideas of badminton and how social life work seem so separate and don’t go along with each others so much. Even though the series want us to think that badminton is a life for characters or the whole world to move along with. But most of the time the logic and gimmicks to link this two ideas together don’t make any senses. Every scenes and plot points look extremely corny and forced. It feels like everything in the entire series always try to reason with each other by using badminton and sport as an important factor in every arguments. When characters and scenes are executed by using these badminton and sport life as main arguments, they look so stupid and so hard to understand what they are thinking. Some people may say that these combinations of both ideas are just some metaphoric and hidden massage of how realism work, but the point is in the end, these just make everything much more complex and over dramatic for unnecessary reason. Just drop the badminton things for a second and make character do and think like a normal person will make this series much more realistic.
2.) The morals in each episode are so moronic and hard to actually believe and work in real life. Again if this series follow the way of trying to be “REALISTIC” then the morals are actually important and it is the matter of fact that these will make the series to have much more visualize images of “what get what after done what” things going on along the entire run. Some scenes and plot points are exaggerated and pandering so much. Doing things that are absolutely not gonna happened in real life and then get away with it or characters and plots just forget about it seem so convoluted and doesn’t make any senses. This will be an exception to cut the score or to even considered as a bad point if the series doesn’t try so hard to become “REALISTIC” though (based on how the series tones and plots were presented). This circumstance actually make me believe that characters and plot points don’t have their own morals and stand points and they are changed over the time with no subtlety and development at all.
3.) This series have one of the worst dialogues I have ever heard in my life. This is the most important key that absolutely ruin this series in my opinion. First, characters usually talk nonsense and metaphoric which kind of annoying and irritating and actually extend the running time to become a boring mess that ruin both tone and story progression and development. Second, this series are extremely over dramatic because of dialogues alone as every characters usually talk like they want to punch each other face for all the time. They insulted and roasted each other for absolutely no reason which even make plots and sequences look so much pandering and fan-service which some time even extend the length of dramatic tone to the maximum limit that later destroyed other tone and plot as well. Third, characters usually repeat the same thing they have been speak and think for several time for no reason which even make this series so long and boring.
4.) Scenes and plots arrangements, pacing and even execution in this series aren’t very good at all. In fact most of them look so confused and hard to tell what viewers should actually focus at the very moment. They are too cramped for the starter. In one episode they have over 100 plots going around and none of them have an impact on each others. Also these plots are always appear randomly with no enough development and subtlety. They cut so many tone and story of an important point that viewers kind of care for the most of time and even make the overall episode to be much more chaotic and confused. Additionally, the storytelling and pacing in this series is sometime totally bad in terms of timing, cliffhanging and swapping. They are so many plot points that are telling in those stage which quite annoying and irritating for those viewers who doesn’t want to watch the three kingdom of badminton.
5.) There are so many stereotype of characters that viewers can actually see and predict their plot for a mile away and even stay the same with no developments or changes during the entire run. The hard strong shounen women who doesn't know how to give up and extremely hot-blood. The want to be winner innocent character. The senpai lover. The girl who look kind and nice outside but her life is very sad. Everything you can easily guess.
6.) This series is easily predictable. Nothing significantly going on during the entire run rather than things that you might seen and think since the very beginning of the series about girls who want to play sport (and win) so much which in each episode will have dramas as a layer to it as always and in the end will conclude with we are friend now kind of cliche'. Furthermore, every morals in each plot arcs (yes, the entire 2-3 episodic sequences) are actually the same. This is so boring in both short and long running viewing experiences. Watching this series only in the beginning and the last would actually give you the same result you want as watching the entire series.
And that's all my opinion why this series is so bad even though it has very good productions. If the main important characteristic of the series, plot isn't compelling enough or even downright design to be fan service, then I have no reason to watch such failure series.
The final score is 1/10. 1 score comes from quality animation productions alone.

Asobi Asobase is a very interesting serie for me in Summer 2018 but at the same time, can be one of the most obnoxious comedy serie around 2-3 years too. I know that comedy is very subjective and different people have different tastes. As you know, there are large amount of comedy anime in the market nowadays and what I am going to show you is how Asobi Asobase in short running viewing experiences, is very amazing in its own way of social humorous and references creativity and adaptation but at the same time, in long running viewing experiences, Asobi Asobase

can be a very boring and irritating serie as its presentation only rely on the same style of overreaction and exaggeration of both plots and characters. First, let me show you the good things that happen in Asobi Asobase which make me want to recommend this serie for you to watch.
I like the designs, relations and dynamic developments and progressions of the main cast which are Olivia, Hanako and Kasumi so much. Actually, I can proudly to say that I only watch this serie in some episode only to watch these three doing something ridiculous and idiotic like normal friends do. (In some serie, friendship buildings and executions are very weirdly beautiful and feeling so forced. They always say nice things to each others and never think in the bad way. They trust each other so much that they can even be lovers which want me cringe sometime.)
These three show us how dynamical and along side the serie they have some progressions and developments since the very start. Olivia is a girl who want to be recognize by her very nature of normal girl, not a foreigner people which everyone always feel uncomfortable. Hanako is a kind of wanna be girl who like to have friend but cannot doing that as she is too bland, idiotic and innocent that other girls don't accept these nature of her except Olivia and Hanako. Kasumi is an awkward girl who can't be herself when facing others people but when she is with Olivia and Hanako, she can be herself who like to do something stupid and relaxing most of the time. Everyone have their own role and attribute as Olivia is a straight man who seem like the most normal while the other two Hanako is a main ridiculous and joke character and Kasumi support these ridiculousness and jokes from Hanako afterword.
These might be shallow perspective of why this serie is interesting and good to watch. Now let's discuss the main key point that make Asobi Asobase both good and bad at the same time.
For its presentation, Asobi Asobase still has to beware one important thing about the style of using “over-action” and “visualization changing” jokes repeatedly along out the entire serie which can be one of the most boring and unfunny thing for some viewers even though those style of presentations changed and developed with more creativity and uniqueness over the time. This serie can be pretty easy to predict on how the jokes and plots will be executed and even nearly guessed the ending resolutions in the next scenes most of the time if viewers who seen or notice the same style of presentations from the other series before hands. Also these jokes and style of scene executions were overused a lot that even the viewer who love to continue to watch the serie can get a bit boring and feeling cheesy too. A lot of viewers decide to drop this serie so fast after seeing these kind of repeated presentations.
After the circumstances of the previous problems that can be happen for some viewers, this serie begins to use a lot of references in their stories and even play jokes more often after the middle part. (but I guess they have started these style of references using since the first part which kind of hard to notice as some references are so old or don’t have any linked or stories to begin with that make it kind of charming for the second watch) This circumstances of serie begin to imply the tactic of using references as main factor as they use them a lot and even have an important role for viewer to understand the joke can be very dangerous as for some viewers. They can not get any laugh from the serie or even feeling funny if they don’t get or understand the references at all.
Even though, the ideas of telling story based on the randomness in girls’ school life are very new and creative in the field that most viewers have never seen before. (because all the school life comedy anime in the community right now are all the man-based viewing not in the girl-based much) But at the same time, they are like the double-edged sword where they can make viewers rather confused so easily about what currently happened in each scenes and plots. Also they make scenes and jokes from the previous to the next scenes that should have some continuity loss their tones and stories that can potentially make the story more engaging and interesting in the long running as viewers have something to get invested in.
Personally, the randomness will not bug me so much if the serie has some kind of good direction which now let's talk the thing that make me feel uncomfortable the most during the viewing experiences of Asobi Asobase, Pacing.
To be completely honest, even though fast pace direction of this serie can (kind of) build up a very well comedic atmosphere and ridicule nature of the serie as every scenes, tones and dialogues feel enthusiastic and look natural from the surface, but it can also be utterly annoying and irritating as hell. Most of the time, if not because of the built up based original stories, plots and dialogues, everything look so extremely force and corny as they look so out of place sometime. The direction of Asobi Asobase cut, swap or even make some built up tones of each scenes loose their momentum. There are too many things cramped in the same scenes which keep changing their attributes all the time. Making it even worse for the viewer to even try to figure out what is actual happened. It will hurt your brain so much and will make you feel a lot of confusion sometime.
And that is all my opinion about Asobi Asobase. This is a good serie for the time killing. Even though I point too many bad things in this review but Asobi Asobase still be a very charming serie to watch for more understanding in second and third times. You should give this serie a try. It might not be as bad as I say.

Overall, Chio-chan is a normal serie for me. It isn't special like other people said. It has some kind of flaws in their jokes and ideas which most of time, make me feel like an idiot if I don't get the jokes or references in the serie which isn't normal thing as many good laugh series in 2018 like Hinamatsuri or Asobi Asobase can give me some laugh even though I don't get everything. 2 out 12 episodes are the best thing that make Chio a good serie for me which are episode 2 and 4. of bad. First let's us start at the bad point or the point that I don't personally like.
1.) This serie rely on too much references and play jokes around them which most of the time, make some part of the serie feel so cringe, forced and have no creativity or adaptation while playing them. These references and jokes are just there for viewers who understand them to feel special but for those who don’t understand them or don’t care can get extremely boring and feeling left out during the entire watching experiences. Watching this serie in the late part feel even worse as there are no creativity in the serie much. If they want to be funny they can be either weird as shit or playing on references.
2.) To be honest, for some people they may feel that this serie (sometime) presents so smart with their humorous social topics playing and references but it just in some episodes that are special but in the overall picture, this serie isn’t quite different when compared to other serie in the same comedic genre. The only things that make this serie special are unique social topics playing in both context and joke, otherwise everything are just copy pasting from other series which usually have unnecessary fanservice, dumb joke that only dumb as much as possible, plot context and scenario which others serie have done before and sexual and adultarise jokes which way far too much used.
3.) The ideas presentation in this serie are the most random things most viewers couldn’t even imagine in the entire world. This is one of the most random serie in the ideas presentation among the school life comedy genre I have seen for a while. These ideas at first look like the story of weird innocent living of nerdy girls and environments around her but when the serie go on much later, these ideas become everything they want to be. They are not even about Chio or school anymore. They are just random skits and story about references and weird shits that don’t even incorporate with anything in the first place. When the time go on and on, this serie can change to be any genre which later make the serie have no main theme or even point to focus at all.
4.) This is the thing that many serie in comedy genre nowaday in anime industry likely to pull off and it isn’t even funny in the long run (it feel like trend than a creativity) which is sexual, social criticism and adultarise jokes. Sometime some serie can present these jokes along with the plots in the very smart ways but in Chio’s case, most of the time these are there so the serie could be more funny in the forced and cringe way. This serie try to create every scenes and build-ups to make viewers feel like these jokes are the most amazing and creative joke in the serie which isn’t true when there are around million series who try to do the same trick and later as this serie is lazy in their story and joke writing, it later create un-appropriate meanings and morals which even make this serie is way worse than it should be as it only treat this jokes to be only funny things. Such as the Kabaddi thing, that yellow hair lesbain hentai girl and the horny homeless man. These things are completely horrible in my opinion to be honest.
5.) This serie has a lot of repetitions and scenes that keep presenting the same story, plot and jokes. The moral or even main point of these scenes are likely the same most of the time that making viewers to guess the next scenarios and jokes so easily they always go in the same pattern. The serie in each episode always start with one problem (only one at time to make viewer use less brain) that could be from both old and new character and the scenes will dedicate to play the plots, references and jokes to it and always end with twist things. This easily create circumstances of boring long run viewing experiences as you can watch (only) good or favourite episode and don't care about the others that are likely the same but worse or boring.
6.) This serie has some kind of weird storytelling which viewers can likely to blame this problem on the direction and serie composition department entirely. The reason is because how they clearly have no plan on what to put and what to play in each scenes and episodes that will make the story make more sensical and easier understandable. No creativity or no visualize play to help root this problem at all. They feel like to put any plots in any moments with no settlety and build-up. The animation departments (the cuck Diomedea’) do whatever they want. They don’t care about the overall structure of plot and tone. They only care about every episodes to be as funny and cringy as much as possible. Making this serie to have a very weird storytelling that keep going around and back and forth development and progression.
For the thing I like or good point of the serie, I might say it is this serie's main cast, Chio and Manana’s character design and voice acting. Main cast characters' designs are very likeable. They are like real friends who aren't always say nice thing to each other. They are very dynamical and always fulfill each others' stories with each unique personality. The voice actings from these two characters are amazing. They know how to keep their voice to have unique personality and be entertain most of the time. And finally I recommend you to watch this serie in episode 2 and 4. These two episodes are one of the best comedic sequences I have ever seen in the entire year. The stories are deep. The jokes are funny. The pacing are very well directed. The dynamic between characters are very charming. The morals behind are heartwarming.
