Tenchi Muyo! An anime I've grown up on. Going back and re-watching it, even though it was a favorite growing up, I have to give it a fair review. This series received a seven in my book.
Story: Though it isn't fully explained in these six episodes, Tenchi Muyo! has a very complex story line. There are many back stories that link together, but the stories are hard to tie together until the viewer has learned about most of them. Even to this day I don't know many of the mysteries of Tenchi Muyo! even though I have been watching this series since I was 12-years-old.
...
This particular series though, falls short of having a 9 rating because though the initial story is interesting, a person can't grasp what's going on fully within these six episodes. There's just too much to explain in such a small amount of time. So viewers would be suggested to continue on to watch the other Tenchi Muyo! series despite the change in voice actors, writers, and some changes in story. It's a give and take situation with this series. Either continue on into the other parts of the series and deal with the changes or stop here and not know the complete story.
Art: The art is nothing to get excited over, but it's also nothing to turn a nose up at. The artists explored many interesting styles in character, clothing, and architecture designs. The Characters have attributes that makes it easy for people to remember them by. The clothing takes on interesting forms, especially Ryoko's outfits. If you want an idea of an anime character to cosplay as, this would be an awesome series to cosplay from.
Sound: Tenchi Muyo! Music is very memorable. I used to get the tunes from this series suck in my head. That's the most I can really say about it. As for character voices, some times they can get annoying, especially Ayeka and Mihoshi's voice in the English version.
Character: There are many characters with distinct personalities, but they aren't very dynamic. The personalities are rather predictable in many situations and can become boring some times. There are also some very annoying characters, but remember, this is a harem, so you get those.
Enjoyment: If you don't think too much into the story and ignore little loop holes, this can be a very enjoyable series. There will be times where it's hard to understand what exactly is going on, but if you can get past that, it's a good series that you won't soon forget.
Overall: The series is good, it has its pros and cons, but it's enjoyable if you don't think too much into things.

Story: The story is something different, there aren't too many stories out there that are genuinely this creepy. It's an amazing story along with psychological twists. There's so much thrown into two books but the author handles it well. They build up the friendships between the characters, get you attached, then rips it apart in a slow but strangely fast manner. It's one event after another but doesn't seem speedy or sloppy. You're always kept in suspense once things get going. This series will seriously mess with your mind and emotions.
Art: The author used art to fully express change in the characters and succeeded
...
well by keeping the characters original look, but somehow changing that look to almost make them seem like someone completely different. Not only did they show a good mix of 'split personalities' they also managed to maximize the creepiness along with it. Another thing to give and take of this series is the gore factor. There really aren't that many scenes with death, but the ones that are there are very unpleasant to think about. My only real problem with the art is, in the first volume, there were a couple of scenes where I couldn't follow completely where people were or what was going on.
Character: The characters are very interesting. You see characters go from being completely rational to insane. Once you start to listen and try to understand the characters, you can fully understand motifs, thoughts, and reasoning behind their actions. Even the killers have reasons if you pay attention to them. In other words, well developed.
Enjoyment: It was very enjoyable, it kept me on edge the whole read and anxious to see what happened next. I can't wait to read the next arc's and see what other paths await the characters.
Overall: A freaky little tale that will keep my mind in thought for a while. This is not the kind of story for the weak minded and super paranoid. I couldn't help but sit silently looking out the window after finishing this series and only imagining how the characters felt and what truths I really know or want to know.

Story: The plot is very interesting, and considering the time it was made (In the 70's) it is actually the original thing that inspired many of the popular animations today, such as Transformers. Though this story has a good plot and many twists, it's rather predictable and sterotypical for the modern day reader. You have the villians who yell "Muahahahahahaha!" and tell the world of their evil schemes. Not to mention the series cuts off and you have to obtain the sequal that wasn't made for many years later. In the beginning of the series, the scenes jumped around a lot and it was rather
...
confusing to tell what exactly was going on. There are other problems with the series such as how things seem to come out of no where. There is a scene where a third getter robo appears and automatically wins a fight for the heros. It felt like lazy writing after the author put himself in a pinch with the manga. Along side that, the dialogue seemed a bit immature and sounded like things a 6th grader would say, especially with the characters who are a little too prideful for their own good. This series has its eye rolling moments. On the other hand though, it has some very interesting moments where you get into it and have to wonder what will happen next. There are many twists and the author gets carried away with killing off people and bringing some back. Typical, yes, but not everyone comes back every time.
Art: The art isn't a personal favorite, but a popular style for it's time. This manga has a tendency to be graphic and the author isn't afraid to show characters dieing a slow and painful death, everything from being ripped apart to being burned alive. The only real complaint I had on the art was that at one point in the series, the art changed drastically. I struggled to figure out who was who and when I looked at it the first time, I wondered if I was looking at the right manga. For one chapter, it was a completely different art style then it went back to normal after that, except the character Musashi.
Character: The characters were poorly developed. You had villians called Reptiloids, which sounds weird. They are the stereotypical villians that foil their own plans by shouting them to the world, primarily to their main opponents. The main character acts like a 6th grader who feels he is invincible and can stop any force and do anything. The author also has a problem with making some of the characters all knowing. As an example, a teenage boy who is smarter than the average teenager, but who can perform autopsies on a body and know exactly what he's doing. This wouldn't bother me so much if the author didn't work so hard to back up most of his ideas with science, but he some times over steps the realistic boundaries and character traps he puts himself in.
Enjoyment: This series is good once you get through it, but it really took a lot for me to sit down and read it. Once I read it, I determined it was an ok series, but not one I would personally read through again.
Overall: Overall, it was a decent series, I would suggest it to people who are really into mechs. It's a classic for the genre and those who are into it may have a better appreciation for it. The development itself was sloppy and poorly put together, but the story potential is good enough to keep reading it. It's also short enough to give it a chance then you can decide later if you want to continue on to the sequel or not. Though it wasn't great, it's still a classic. It has made an impact on my view of mechs.

When I think of Lucky Star, I think of brainless entertainment.
Story: Really it isn't the story that gets the ranking of an 8, it's more the concept. Not many shows take this kind of theme. The theme is brainless, but it is entertaining. It takes conversations that we have in our daily lives and turns them into an anime, thus we have Lucky Star. What's actually funny about this series is how much people can relate their stories to real life experiences. I mean, who hasn't had a 5 minute conversation about how they eat certain foods or something along those lines? In fact
...
since I started watching Lucky Star I've noticed myself having those kinds of conversations and I tend to laugh and think "Lucky Star moment." So Lucky Star for me has actually leaked over a bit into my life and even when I'm not watching, it has provided me with a bit of a chuckle. This just goes to show life can be entertaining if you look closely enough at it from the Lucky Star standpoint.
Art: The art wasn't horrible, but it was a typical style. There isn't much to be said about it except the expressions during different situations made me laugh. Nothing better than anime expressions.
Sound: To be truthful, I don't remember much about the music except for the theme song. I admit, I love the theme song. As hard as I try though, I don't really recall what the music sounds like.
Character: I believe we all have a character we can relate to in this series, probably most of us relate to Konota more than any of them. I like each character for their own personality and it didn't seem like any one character was better than another, each had their own pros and cons.
Enjoyment: This was a good anime to wind down the day with that doesn't need much energy to enjoy. This is just what I need after a long day at school working my brain to death. It got boring at times, but overall it was an enjoyable series. Just not the kind of series for people who like a complex storyline. If you're multi-tasking or about to go to sleep and want something light hearted, Lucky Star is your anime.
Overall: I can see how people like this series and I can also see why people would dislike this series. It's not really an anime to watch for excitement, action, romance, or anything of that nature. It's more for comedy that can make you laugh out loud or put a smile on your face. Nothing more and nothing less. So key tip, don't mean to beat a dead horse, but if you're looking for complexity or a story line, you may want to look elsewhere or you'll just be wasting time.

Story:
I was surprised by the story line. It made me realize how much people really do put on a face for others when they leave their house. When the characters decided to reveal their true selves they gradually had to go through the change like anyone would in real life. Though the characters had to go through the change, they came to find out anyone could accept them for who they are, even though they aren't perfect like they played out to be. It was a growing experience.
Art:
It was typical art. I did enjoyed the mixed mediums of anime, manga, and life shots,
...
but it got annoying when some episodes were primarily manga style or with many life shots (What I define as a life shot is pictures or video clips that are real life scenes). The change in character kind took me by surprise artistically. I only realized half way through the series that the main character, Yukino, seemed to change a bit physically. She started to wear her hair differently, her posture was different, even dressed differently. Though I didn't notice this straight away, it could have been from my lack of an attention span.
Sound:
I did like the music of the series. There were many times where I would be sitting at my desk working and realize that the music going through my head was actually the songs from Kare Kano. I guess you can say after listening to it for a while the music can become addictive at least in my case. Nothing really special, but it's still good music.
Character:
The characters were good. The Main characters would get the rank of 8 because of how complex they were, but they weren't realistic. Though they proved themselves to be human and some had reasons to be 'perfect' no one can attempt to be that perfect and succeed at it. I've known people who've tried to be perfect for attention and to get approval from their family, it has NEVER worked out. Supporting characters didn't have a very solid background either, though they WERE entertaining (AKA Asaba).
Enjoyment:
Though I loved the series, mainly the story line, there were some rather annoying episodes. There were episodes that were hard to understand, especially some of the later episodes. Episode 25 was, in my opinion, a useless episode, it pertained NOTHING to the story, and it wouldn't have been so bad if it was shown earlier in the series, but it was the second to last episode. I understand that there was probably budget cuts and that's what ended the series really weirdly. The final episode was quite a disappointment though. It was very abstract and it seemed like it left you to figure out what happened. There were many started stories that seemed to be left un-finished and thrown in at the last second to give you an quick conclusion. It was also weird because episode 23 felt like it was the final episode how the characters talked and everything was kind of built up. I just think if they didn't have to end it when they did, this series could have been even better.
Overall:
From this series, I discovered that anyone can be accepted even though they aren't perfect and I too decided to throw away my mask. So from this series, it's not only for entertainment, it can also provide a learning experience. The message of this series is to be yourself and never think that one needs to be perfect to be happy. Perfection is selfishness and love is true happiness and because of that love is not perfect.

Story:
I would have to give the story a 7. Don't get me wrong, I love the story, but it is a typical soap opera story line. Once I started thinking in those terms, it kind of spoiled the story a bit. I will say though, it was a good heart wrenching anime. I can (probably) say that we've all felt as Haruka, Mitsuki, or Kakayuki did at one point and time in our lives. I was able to relate rather well to a few of the characters throughout the series.
Art:
I love the art, I've always loved the shojou art, but there isn't anything that really
...
seriously sticks out to me that could bump my opinion up to a 9 or 10. The other reason the art only got a 8 was the fact, there was a lot of unnecessary panty shots, huge breasted girls, and other things geared towards the perverted mind, typical in an anime, but still rather annoying.
Sound:
I did like the music, nothing really special about it though. It fit the anime and served its purpose, that's about it.
Character:
The three main characters were well developed. There wasn't a real way that you could side with one character over the other if you've ever felt the feelings they've felt. The only problem I had with the characters, is there were supporting characters and they played some purpose, but not much. Haruka's sister was there to push the guilt trips, the high school friend of the three (Can't recall his name) was there as a kind of wake up call to Takayuki and Mitsuki, but frankly, the girls Takayuki worked with, had a very little to no purpose in the anime except to get a few laughs from.
Enjoyment:
It was a good anime to pass time with. After most episodes I was curious as to what was going to happen next, but I didn't become obsessed over it. It was very enjoyable for those nights when there was nothing going on and I was bored.
Overall:
This anime takes our dirty little secrets and throws them back in our face. We have lustful feelings and unfaithful thoughts that cause us to have to choose between two things we love. In this anime the characters are faced with these problems and it sends you on a ride of trust, betrayal, and heart break.

Story: This story plot was a little different from the normal shojo mangas you read. I personally never heard of Hanatsuki before and it kind of grabbed my attention. Though after a while I was able to figure out some parts of the story. The story did seem predictable, but the situations the characters put themselves in made it interesting to see what would happen next. One thing that did bother me and I kind of wonder if I may have passed it up, what happened to the Hanastuki's mother? She played the main roll putting the main characters into the situation that ultimately makes
...
the story, but they don't really talk about where she is and if she was dead what happened to her. Overall though, the story was new, interesting, and very touching, about chapter 6 (of 8) I couldn't put it down, I HAD to see it through to the end.
Art: BEAUTIFUL. There are several pages I'm going to have to go back and attempt to draw they are just so beautiful. The art screams Shojo and has that beautiful detail that shojo manga readers crave. The artist put a lot of work into designing the dancing clothes and the devil's vines and body marks. I have no complaint with the art what so ever. Of course not all the art was highly detailed, the main parts of the story were drawn simply so it wouldn't be too much for the reader.
Character: Lys and Siva, Love them to death. There were some characters like Thor and Russet who to me just seemed to get in the way. Though they were good characters with good personalities, they only popped up in the story every now and then and it seemed to mainly be when you wouldn't want them there. Once again, as I mentioned before, though they followed the story of Lys (The main character) the story went from her birth when her mom asked for the devil's heart to Lys being alone. Mother just dropped off the face of the Earth and no one explained that.
Enjoyment: Very enjoyable, though they did nothing but travel, they always had a new experience. Some people knew what Lys was and shunned her, others didn't. So it was interesting to see how far she would go and what town would welcome her and what town would shun her. I was always interested to see what happened next and how the story would end.
Overall: It got a 9 for being great. It wasn't an outstanding masterpiece, but it was very enjoyable. It wasn't the normal love story you would normally read and that's what I liked about it. It was something very different and though it was short, it satisfied my crave for a good romance. It wasn't overly long and drawn out like a lot of romance stories are. This is just a good manga to read when you have nothing to do and need to keep your mind occupied for a few hours. Hanastuki Hime takes "I will give you my heart" to a whole new level.

Ouran High School Host Club is one of the first animes for a while now that was able to keep me entertained from beginning to end. I seriously finished the series in a week I was that into it.
Story:
Though the story had a tendency to be just purely random, I like the creativity of using a host club as a main component of the series. It's something a little different than the normal high school based series. The fact that Haruhi gets dragged into this despite what sex she was made the story line even more entertaining. If you are looking for something to just
...
sit back and watch for a laugh and no serious thinking, this is a good series.
Art:
The art was very good, not the best in my opinion, especially when it came to showing off Haruhi as being a cute girl, I think the artists could have made her look a little cuter, because she kind of looked ordinary in many scenes and they went on like she was the cutest thing ever. Ouran High School Host Club does have that traditional anime style that I like of over exaggerated facial features when someone is confused, mad, excited, happy, etc.
Sound:
I'm going to say, though I have not watched the Sub version, I think the dub version was pretty good. I really like how they picked a voice actor for Haruhi that sounds somewhere in the middle of male and female and that can be easily confused with either one. That is the main thing that I think of when I think of sound for this series, is the good choice of voice actors, at least in my opinion.
Character:
I believe the characters were pretty well developed. In the beginning of the series you get to know the characters and you think "Oh, he's a jerk" or "He is the cutest little thing ever!" but then, through out the series you realize there is more to those characters than the first impression they give you.
Enjoyment:
This series had me completely hooked. I HAD to watch all of it as soon as I started. There was only one episode where I started getting bored, but by the end of the episode I was dieing to watch the next one.
Overall:
It was a great series, not to the point I think it is a masterpiece, but I'm very glad I watched it and I understand why it is fairly popular. ^^

This anime got 10's straight across the board with me.
The Story:
First of all, the story was very psychological. I enjoyed how the author of this series dived into the human psyche and brought out the dark side of people. Often people think about things like "What would it be like to be able to read other people's minds?" Kino's Journey takes those kinds of thoughts and twists them into reality. Through Kino's eyes, we see the world as it really is, not the Utopia we often try to live in. Thus the popular quote from the series "The world is not beautiful, therefore it
...
is."
Art:
The art suited the series very well. It was plain, earthy, but in some situations very abstract. The creators didn't use high detail, and in truth, if they did, it would have distracted the viewer from the important aspects of the series. They seemed to make each scene relate to human senses and delusions.
Sound:
Just like the art, they interacted sound with the senses. They did this especially during fight scenes. Just like in reality, the senses are heightened when one's life is on the line, and they really focused on this aspect with the sound. You can hear everything going on, clothes ruffling, boots pounding against the ground, even the breath of the one who has realized they just lost.
Character:
There are really only two main characters. Each character though, has their own story whether main or supporting. They give in abstract and direct detail as to why each character acts the way they act, and each character is fairly well developed.
Overall/Enjoyment:
Love this series. Has to be my favorite series of all. I really wish there were more episodes, but at the same time, they made the series just long enough for it to be amazing and leave the viewers wanting more without them becoming bored. The story really draws people in and makes them part of Kino's Journey as she drifts between the different countries. This series is not just an anime, it is a piece of art.

I My Me! Strawberry Eggs was a good series, it would have gotten a 10 in my book but there were some things towards the end that kind of bugged me.
The story, as soon as you know what it's about has that "Oh my... Got to see how this goes over" reaction. First episode and I was hooked. VERY funny and the awkward situations made it funnier. But unfortunately, the further and further the series went the more serious it became... That's what I didn't like about the series. Realistically though, what all happened in the series happened just as it would in real
...
life.
Art was typical, it was good art, but not bad. Though there were some parts in the series that they could have left some details out...
Characters were weird... At least the main characters. True, they didn't have much of a back story, but they were well developed and had their own personalities. Some had a little too much of their own personality... x_x;;;
Overall, a very enjoyable series, except the ending which I said went from comical to serious. Provided many good laughs and leaves you wondering what will happen next?
