Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom has certainly proved to me that there is anime out there that, despite being under appreciated, truly is worth the watch, as it provides so much suspense and enjoyment throughout the series.
The story is well structured, enjoyable, entertaining and just plain awesome, the whole made to kill or be killed thing appealed to me especially, considering what a tough situation that must be like in real life. The crime aspect of the show also cements my passion for it simply presents us with an exciting scenario. The time skips, character developments and many other things further enhance the great storyline,

from start to finish.
The art of the show puts many other animes to shame, the great visuals are shown by the scenery, character animation, and the effects. All of this allows viewers to enjoy the story as well as the visuals, further building upon an already capable show.
The soundtrack, along with the opening and ending songs to the show are some of the best I have heard in a while, fitting nicely with the show's dark and serious nature, being able to subtly show the sinister outline of the show from the beginning. The sound effects do not disappoint, being able to capture the essence of the backgrounds and work effectively with the visual effects. The voice acting for the show is top notch, each voice fits the character perfectly, no out of place voices what so over, thankfully.
The characters are indeed the main drivers of this show, you have the calm and steady protagonist Zwei, the mysterious Ein, the villainous and somewhat disturbing Scythe Master, and of course the innocent Cal, along with other characters that greatly enhance the show's dark and interesting vibe. The development of main characters throughout the show's run further allows you to develop an understanding of them, they each in their own way bring a sympathetic aura about them. With the effective voice acting adding to this, it makes a great cast of characters.
The show presents some serious challenges to the characters, whether it be murder or betrayal, it simply adds to the highly enjoyable, action packed series. The seriousness of the show is also something to be aware of, as it makes no effort to add anything camp or cheesy to the show, something some viewers may not like, but in my opinion it gives us a taste of realism. The violence and profanity make it appealing for a more mature audience, as well as the complex plot.
Overall with a solid storyline, great characters, excellent voice acting, sound effects, music as well as the great visuals this show will provide you with great enjoyment throughout, and with an interesting ending, it makes it that much more memorable and exciting. Good luck, Phantom!
