My Stepmother’s Daughter is my Ex a feel good romance anime about two characters, Mizuto and Yume, who had been in a relationship during their last year of middle school but broke up. Before starting high school, their parents had gotten remarried, which so happened to be to each other’s parent! This puts the two former middle school sweethearts in a situation where they are trying to please their parents and be good step siblings, while also hiding their previous relationship. This creates very interesting situations for the two, like taking challenges to each other for who slips up in front of their parents, keeping
...
their distance from each other at school, and so forth. The anime does a pretty alright job of creating a very believable story and keeps the pace very down to earth which is impressive in a less-than-likely scenario like this.

My stepmother’s daughter is my ex is done by Project No. 9, which has produced some of my favorite scenes in other anime, and did a great job of doing so again with this anime. The art style is very fluid and looks extremely well proportioned and thought out in every character. During some of the more engaging scenes, the characters were very beautifully drawn and the scenes genuinely gorgeous. Going into character details, I noticed that a few of the characters have a lot of the same features, be it the face or the body, with the differences being hair, eyes, and clothes. I feel this didn’t have a huge impact on the anime overall, which is very fortunate as the art visuals are definitely where I feel this anime succeeds. I give the visuals in this anime a solid 9/10.
- [ ] Enjoyment rating
Throughout the anime, I constantly found myself asking a rather annoying question. “What’s the point?” I never really found the meaning in watching this anime and that took a lot of points off my rating for it. A lot of the character interactions felt lackluster and used more as a way to push the plot along then really having anything to do with the story all together, to the point that I actually forgot about characters besides Mizuto and Yume quite frequently. Understanding the plot as telling a story about the reconciliation of a young couple that didn’t know how to communicate is one thing, but looking at how Mizuto and Yume act throughout the anime, it’s hard to really understand why they split up at all, despite the story introducing that in their backstory. Asking me straight up “did you enjoy this anime?” I would honestly have to stay I enjoyed scenes, but no, I really did not really enjoy the anime. I feel the appropriate way to describe it would be “It won the battle, but lost the war.” My enjoyment rating is going to be a 5\10.
- [ ] OP/EP rating
Opening: “Deneb to Spica” by DIALOGUE+ was a fun intro for My Stepmother’s Daughter is my Ex. The animation is very cute, showing a fun side of all the characters, and really was enjoyable to watch over and over. I caught myself following the rhythm of the song as well, honestly possibly making it more enjoyable than certain parts of the anime itself. Easily a rewatch even without planning on rewatching the anime itself, 8/10.
Ending: “Futari Pinocchio” by harmoe was very average for a romance outro. The song is rather catchy and overall fun but the video that follows along to it was pretty plain and didn’t have anything going for it. I became more interested in the hard candies in the video, which looked important but was also let down by never getting a reason for them in the anime. Pretty plain, 4/10.
- [ ] Character rating
I touched on it a little bit prior, but the characters here are a mixed bag of feelings. Outside of Mizuto and Yume, the characters are pretty plain, they each have a story that feels like they could really shine the story up a bit more, but under the guise of “just something I heard”, or “it’s not really important” we miss out on a lot of interesting characters. Mizuto is a fun character to follow, a Yume gets some great faces out of him as well as amazing one liners that do really make up his character. Yume was a bit frustrating, as she acted first and didn’t really think about what other outcomes could happen besides the one outcome she had in mind when she enacted her plans, which, that in itself is human and makes a lot of sense, especially for teenagers who want to one up each other, but even in the situations where she created faults, she used them as ways to further the reasons she separated from Mizuto. The entire story could have been avoided by just 3 seconds of self reflection, which she actually did, but chose to double down on the fault that made the problem in the first place. Having main characters with problems is fine in itself, but having good side characters fixes that problem 9 times out 10 and this anime just missed that. With all that, I give the character rating a 5\10, really saved by Mizuto just being an entertaining character.
- [ ] Overall rating
Putting all the factors for this anime into one basket, I’d say it’s worth the watch, simply for the animation and the reset factor of wanting a significantly more engaging anime after, so using it as a anime between anime’s wouldn’t be the worst idea. If there ends up being a possibility of a second season, I would be very curious has to how they correct a lot of the shortcomings here in the first. My overall rating of the anime is going to place it at 6/10.

World’s End Harem is an anime about a sci-if post apocalyptic world that revolves around the death of half of the world’s population, all of which are men, from was is known as the MK virus, or Man-killer virus. The purpose of the new world government known as United Women, or UW as shortened in the anime, is to repopulate the world with men that immune to the MK virus. To do so, they have done tests on men in cryosleep to find those that have an immunity to the virus. Our story tells the tale from the view point of 5 mean that do
...
have this immunity. In the 11 episodes, we follow Number 2, Mizuhara, Reito, mainly, and Number 3, Doi, Shouta, as sort of a second side of the world. Without giving too many spoilers to the story, Number 2 refuses to partake in the repopulation of the world and instead decides to develop a cure to the virus. Following through the story, we get a lot of twists and information that doesn’t make sense until the story gives the rest of the information. Will the world be repopulated through the Numbers? Or will we see the world develop a cure?
- [ ] Visual rating
World’s End Harem is done by Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ, two studios which, at the time of this review, I have watched a few of their productions, but matching the others in their arsenal, has very open uses of colors all around, making the characters easy to distinguish from each other and make the backgrounds very engaging with the characters. The anime uses very simple backgrounds with heavy detail, making them feel much more involved with the story than I have seen from a lot of anime. Breaking down the NSFW features of the anime, I feel that all the characters were done very detailed and well designed from each other as to never feel stale, which was a concern I had getting into Number 3’s, Doi, Shouta’s, part of the story. There were minor parts here and there that I feel the studio could have put more attention into, but I never had any scenes where I felt that they failed. Visually, I give this anime 8/10 for its visuals.
- [ ] Enjoyment rating
So the enjoyment of this anime breaks down into 2 parts in my opinion: enjoyment of what the anime is with all it’s R+ rating, and enjoyment of the take off for the story. I’ll start with the first part, as I’m sure that’s more or less the reason most people start this anime. The NSFW bits do come in very quickly in the story, but don’t become overwhelming until a few episodes in, giving viewers the chance to at least dip their toes into the anime with bits of this and that mixed in. Later into the anime, it does get a lot more sexual heated with Doi’s side of the anime. I very much appreciated that the anime lets the character walk into the role that is being demanded of him, rather then forcing plot armor here and unrealistic thought processes there. You get to feel the internal struggle and aggravation that Doi feels as he’s coaxed into this person that he is to become, following a path that I could actually see a person like him taking. Now, jumping into the second part, I wasn’t actually a huge fan of the way the story felt at the beginning, which, like I’m sure a lot of people that quit the anime early, felt. The story was a bit of a slow burn, building this eerie vibe behind every action and scene. Like I said prior, the anime drops information at which feels sort of random, but once far enough into it, the picture starts to form clearly, making it actually very engaging and demanding of your attention. Putting both parts together, I think that World’s End Harem does a great job of luring the viewer in with its naughty pillow talk, and then right before it gets stale, drops you right into a very promising sci-if tale of a post-apocalyptic dystopia. My enjoyment rating for Wold’s End Harem is 10/10.
- [ ] OP/EP rating
Opening: “JUST DO IT” by H-el-ical covers the anime very well, giving a nice intro to what the view will be expecting in the anime. Covering all the characters, giving the understanding that it is, at its core, an ecchi anime, and gives the feeling that there is a dark eerie vibe somewhere in the anime. The song itself, is actually really good too, well composed and fitting for the anime’s pace. I give the OP a 9/10
Ending: “ENDiNG MiRAGE” by EXiNA was very hard to skip, very well composed and extremely aggressive compared to a lot of endings I have heard from sci-fi animes. It’s actually going to make it into my playlist. The way it was played it as a covering of all the characters as well was very well done and feels like a great way to give the view a recap as they are introduced to each character throughout the anime. I give the EP a 10/10.
- [ ] Character rating
Like stated prior, World’s End Harem is told from the perspective of two characters, those being Reito, Number 2, and Shouta, Number 3. Development of these characters was very well thought out, first with Reito being the intelligent Med student who only wants to find his childhood friend and love, Tachibana, Elisa, and with Shouta being the bullied High school student with no confidence in himself due to a lack of parental guidance and said bullying. The characters around these two are well crafted, if not a bit vague, each with a bit of a story as to while they are involved with the two subjects as well as a connection somewhere else along the story that helps guide the characters to their goals, or purpose, in Shouta’s case. I give the character development a rating of 7/10
- [ ] Overall rating
World’s End Harem did honestly surprise me, I wasn’t looking for an anime with that much of a purpose when I found it, as I’m sure most views who “accidentally” stumble upon it, but was given a show that did more than just keep my interest, it caused me to desire more, with both characters and story. I whole heartily recommend this anime to those that want a break from a typical shounen or from the stressful entourage of a heavy sci-fi anime. My final rating for World’s End Harem is going to be an 8/10, hitting most of what makes an anime a masterpiece, with some heavy exceptions on characters and visuals. I look forward to hopefully hearing about a second season sometime in the coming future!

Relatively moderate review this time, nothing too fancy but I do think this anime deserves a review since it did intrigue me quite a bit! I'm doing a review on Sky Wizard's Academy, an anime based around a protagonist, Kanata Age, that has recently been black listed a traitor due to his inactivity with his duty to protect his home of Mistgun. In his blacklisting, he winds up becoming an instructor for a group of misfit students that are considered the lowest of the students, as they still have yet to win a single match against any of their opponents.
So I'm going to start with
...
the story as it is probably the only thing actually holding this anime together unfortunately. While I really enjoyed the story and the way the plot held itself together, I feel like I know nothing that I want to know. I never really received any answers for anything that I might have been curious about or really had any part of where these antagonistic beings called the "Devil Beetles" came from, which honestly leaves me a little sad and truly desiring more from the story. In all honestly, as much as I feel like I didn't learn anything, I do feel extremly held together by the lack of information making me want to create my own story line, which, I do feel saved this anime significantly.
Sounds check out next as I feel they did alright with the voice actors, as I feel like I couldn't really put any other voices to fit the characters better than they do. I guess the lack of actual emotion in the anime makes it hard for me to feel that they truly fit does play a factor into it but I think they did alright portraying the character they way they were meant to be heard. As for action scenes and all the sounds that follow a sword and a rifle, they failed. Nothing sounded like it fit or didn't even make a sound at all which made following the fighting rather difficult. The intro song was amazing. I never skipped as it always made me feel ready and wanting to get the anime going. The outro on the other hand, I skipped every time after the first episode. I didn't really enjoy it.
Well, now with the animation, I don't think it did too bad but the CGI was awful. Nothing connected, every movement was way to stiff, and all the colors changed during the switches. And than to try and counter this issue, they stopped using CGI and just made the fights really slow and rather actually quite dull using just the normal animation. It went from bad to worse. But hey, I guess all the looks of the characters weren't bad. I did like their models and enjoyed their hairstyles and the look of their eyes quite a bit.
Character development was pretty foul. While every character learned and progressed forward, it looked like they were just shooting in the dark and getting lucky. Nothing really connected to me to say that it made sense. Harder than that, none of the characters had back stories besides Misora, so it really felt forced and just pulled together. Nothing really impressive to say about it, sorry to say.
Despite this, I did enjoy the anime. I don't really understand why I enjoyed it so much, maybe it just had a feel of something I enjoyed in the past, but never the less, I did enjoy it. Watching the characters struggle and try to figure out what was going on made it a pretty good story, as rough as it was and since the characters didn't really have their backstories, maybe I enjoyed the mystery of trying to see how they all played out. I will end my rating with a 5/10 solely as an enjoyment rating to factor it out to something decent. It may not really be worth a watch, but I think it had promise.

"Notice me senpai!" The desire we all want from our emotions right? Well Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun is all about that life, giving the "why won't senpai notice me?" an actual body will feels, lots of laughs, and way too much cring for someone to bare in one sitting! So just a quick overview before I start this review, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun is a about Chiyo Sakura who is head over heels in love with Umetarou Nozaki, who happens to the be the mangaka of a very popular shojo manga and mistakes her confession for a fan asking for a autograph and thus, starts the cycle
...
"Notice me senpai!"
Because Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun was adapted from a 4-Panel manga, I was honestly not expecting to much in terms of animation but I was wrong. I was blown away by the animations and the fluent lively feel this anime gives right from the gate! Instead of making the reactions of the characters choppy to show a sense of immediate disapproval, they made the reactions build themselves to give a realistic sense of the person contemplating the stupid action or line the other characters just performed or said. The colors were very vibrant which I felt fit very well seeing as it is an anime about shojo manga.
The intro song caught me immediately. I never skipped it! The chilled groove and the perfect video to go with the sound was amazing! Outro was decent but compared to the intro, it's nothing more to go into detail about. The voice actors surprised me at first as I felt like they didn't really hold a real fit to their characters but they grew on me sanfigant To a point where I really can't imagine any voice actors replacing anyone without it losing the feel of the anime. The emotions of the characters were delivered well through the actors and it most certainly gave it very engulfing scene during plot developments.
Again, it is a story that personifies "Notice me senpai!" so there really is only one course of story it could take but I do thing it hit everything that needed to be done well and continued to hold a hook throughout that kept me from losing my interest. I also felt that while they were able to continue along with the main story between Chiyo and Nozaki, they were also able to create enough for the side characters to feel like they were pursuing their own story as well, which I felt was well done in the sense of creating stories in stories.
Character developments were rather stiff, as every character had to follow a certain course to be used as material in the story for Nozaki to use them in his manga so it was rather one dimensional personality wise. Now after getting past the awkward character introductions, the relationship developments were where the characters really shown as every character benefited the other in the pair or constantly pushed the dull one dimensional characteristics to a slightly more enjoyable run of cliche actions and events. As low as I put this on my review, I think it is a very important part of why I enjoyed this anime.
Wrapping up, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun is worth the watch if you enjoy seeing senpai ignore everything! It really did take me a little longer than I wish I could say it did, but like I said when I started this review, it really isn't something that be can watched in one sitting as it is slow and rather progression less. My final score will end up being an 8/10 because I feel they did a very strong job overall putting the anime together and keeping every part holding each other together to make it look better in the long run even without any real character backstories or plots.

Okay, so!! I finally got around to watching Attack on Titan and needless to say because of the score I have given it, I am very disappointed in its display. To summarize the start, the main character, Eren Yeager, lives in a large town inside a 40 meter tall wall which was build to stop the titans, which are large humanoids varying in sizes that prey on the humans and have done so for a vast amount of years. In order to prevent these titans from killing the rest of humanity, the humans formed a large scale military group that divides into three sections:
...
The Military Police, The Scout Regiment, and the Garrison Regiment. Now to start the anime off, something big has to happen right? Well it does. The appearance of a massive titan that destroys things and lets the other titans into the walls, blah blah blah. Attack on Titan has a rather indifferent way about its start as it does throw the audience into a state of panic within the first episode which is actually very promising. Well it was. But it was rather quite the let down in my eyes. After the first real panic, nothing really happens that makes as harsh of an impact.
Alright I want to hit the visuals first, as I like to start with my what I enjoyed the most about the anime I am reviewing. I do give the visuals a very high 7, just short of giving it an 8 due to the fact that looking at characters that seem like they might be cardboard cut-outs makes me rather enfurated. Yes that is exactly how they look with their dark, heavy outlines and their stiff movements. Later on in the anime, whether I just got so used to it or it actually getting better, I noticed that they weren't as bad as they were in the first episodes, but still rather visible. But! As I said, this was my favorite part and there is a reason! The CGI. If you can even call it CGI. The way the motions panned out during the fighting and during moments of intensity were rather flawless and very well done. When the characters were jumping between buildings, I felt an exhilarated rush. Very well done. Coming down the effects of the blood and the smoke, which a lot of animes seem to struggle getting to work properly with the animation style they use, Attack on Titan did very well. None of the blood felt out of place and the gas always had a clean flow, not a mess of whatever was trying to be done.
Going to put the sounds here because I feel its best to get it out of the way. Starting with the intro and the outro, I did very much enjoy the thrilling start it gave you feel when it through the visuals with splendid music, the outro did a very nice job of doing its job as to settle down after an episode of iffy feelings. Now down to the part that matters here, hated the voice actors. Jean's voice I think was the ONLY voice in the entire anime that didn't make me hate it even more. Its not that I thought the voice actors were bad, no they AMAZING at playing with their voices to fill the emotion that the character was feeling and a damn wonderful job of getting a sense of feeling it was real, BUT NONE OF THEM MATCHED THEIR CHARACTERS! AT ALL! Switch them around a little and boom, perfect voice acting! That simple! And they failed! Was a total disappointment. The background music was also rather shallow. Like, I always heard it, but it just never left an impact or just didn't feel like it really did its job to involve me in the scene it was playing for. I think the only sounds that were done well in this, were the sounds of cutting the titans and the sound of blades. Not really much else.
Oooo boy, characters. Here's where I'm really gonna take a massive chunk outta this anime. There was NO character development. no visual sign that anyone was actually changing. And whenever they did, they threw it away half an episode later like it never happened. There was nothing to show that these people were learning. It was a constant stalemate in their grown. The cast of the characters was also a mess. No one really had a purpose in the way anyone was connected and made any connection someone had to another seem almost worthless. Eren's only reason for being this character that he was, was because he was mad and wanted to kill all the titans. His whole purpose was very cliche and dull. Not to mention how underly dense he was, which made him all the more terrible of a character. Arata, Eren's best friend, REALLY HAD NO PURPOSE WHAT SO EVER. He was there, he was smart, he was weak, he hated himself. He really didn't serve a purpose. Anyone really could've done the same job he did. Misaka, a girl that was taken in by Eren's parents, was there solely for Eren. Yes all MCs need their girl, that is certain and I think she did play a very strong role. Now her existence should've made Arata's nonexistent. She was already this god character at Eren's side all the time. Why would he need more? The only other person I can see being worth mention is Jean, who Eren had multiple encounters with and really should've been the one in Arata's place as well. But he was way to unstable of a character. Everytime he had a chance to be useful, he blew it. Now, I know what fear can do to a person. It'll make you think irrationally, prevent you from moving properly, all around just make it hard to function the way you want. But what I don't understand is this irrational fear these people had. Where all their courage, all their determination went EVERY damn time something happened. I guess I could understand it when it comes from the civilians, but the military regiments were despicable. I really just couldn't believe that after 4 years of this really harsh training, dealing with overcoming fear in these harsh environments, they would just be terrified each and every time. It was worthless. Getting scared after seeing your comrades eated is certainly scary, but these people grew up KNOWING this was happening for hundreds of years! And then got trained to fight against it! The emotions shown in the characters, important or not, was very terrible and I can't give it anywhere over a 1.
Now, it's rather hard for me to just attack an anime without really trying to give it some credit so I will say I did very much enjoy its story concept and the idea they put in place to give this anime life, but unfortunately, it just had too many flaws. The fact the anime's first 13 episodes took place in 5 days, 7 of those episodes being in 1 day, really bothered me. I know that that day have a VERY important meaning and was very crucial to how the anime would play out, but I feel that it would've made more sense to do this with an anime that had more episodes. So I feel that they just failed in giving it the proper girth that it should've had to make those episodes actually have a meaning. Now onto the actual fighting with titans, it was awful. There was this build up saying how strong these titans were, which was rather clear, but certain people, naming here Misaka, killed multiple titans by herself without even breaking a sweat. Now why couldn't three or four cadets, who were in the same position she was, not do what she did as a group? It just didn't add up. Either everyone died to one titan in half a second, or the titan was killed effortlessly. There was never an in between. Thus simulating a very large difference all the characters and their abilities. I did also enjoy the mystery behind the titans. I thought that the fact that nothing really ever got found out easily was very great and a big plus to the anime. I also found it a great surprise when Eren's trump card was released so early in the anime, not 20 episodes in when it just happened to be convenient for the author to change something up.
Wrapping up my review, I think a 4 is really the only way to rate this anime. Even though there was so much going on in this anime, the episodes felt too short and really not enough was ever explained. Then came all the inconsistencies with the characters' personalities and the mess of what was always going. To top it off, the scenes were never really clear either. Something would happen, have no connection to anything, throw you back into a flashback, explain its purpose, and the put you back at the beginning with something new to go off of. BUT YOU WERE STILL CONFUSED HOW TO HOW THE HELL IT WAS PLAYED OUT. Just too much of a mess in its presentation. I do give my enjoyment for this anime a 3 because it was just never there. It has too many flaws and not enough good points to balance it out. BUT! I did end up finishing the entire anime. So, with that said, there was something about it that made me want to finish it, there for, whether I like it or not, I'm still a statistic in the watched poll. Hopefully we will see a vast improvement in the second season if there is ever one to release.

Alright, well this is gonna have a lot to cover since I feel this anime, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, did SOOO MUCH right and left me feeling like it could never be duplicated or repeated by any other creator. Lets start with the first episode that was released thirteen weeks ago; It was just... just.... GAHHHHHHHHHH! There was so much to say! It starts the story with the MC, Satoru Fujinuma, living a deadbeat life, no friends, no success, trying to become a manga artist and working at a pizza shop to cover his living expenses. Except he has a power. As the name,
...
Revival, says, he’s able to go back to a time where some awful predicament is going to happen and make changes to fix it. I know right? Pretty hard to get the feels with. Suddenly, after some pretty unbelievable turn of events that make you rip your hair out, Satoru suddenly finds himself in 1988! Back in his 11 year old body to change his past! AND THAT WAS JUST EPISODE 1!
So I'm gonna hit the sounds first because I think it was a VERY heavy influence on the outcome of this anime. Both the intro and outro were awesome, but sadly I skipped them for the amazing anime. The bgm was perfect, you never knew it was there because it fit so well, never overtaking the animation, with its surroundings and made you feel that things were going to happen without realizing that you knew things were going to happen because you were still so focused on the anime! The voice actors are my favorite. I wracked my brain around EVERY time I heard the MC's voice because I could NOT for the life of me figure out who the actor was. Well turns out that this is the voice actor's first role and he slayed it like a monster. I can't wait to hear him play more characters. The voices used for the other characters I think were very well done as well, as every voice resonated with the character's personality and there was no contradiction between them.
Getting back into my normal pace, let’s hit the story second. Unique, engulfing, and heart-tearing are the first three words that I feel for this anime. I don't think I've ever watched an anime or read a manga where the story forces the MC to live his present life and his past life back and forth the way this anime did. The need... no, the DESIRE to want this character to succeed is ridiculous! Just outright, you feel that everything this character does is just beyond human and that he has to have a good ending! It just pulls when it wants to pull and there is no way for you to feel anything but what the anime wants you to feel. And the cliff hangers! They were too good! Unbelievably good!
Now hitting the art, I think it was nothing really impressive. In fact certain character's faces made me cringe and wish I could ask for them to be remade, but it’s okay because I really liked the way the art looked for the actually important characters, likes the kids the story focused on. I did really enjoy the use of the 3D panning during key situations of the anime. All in all though, I don't really think the animation had much to cover, as it really didn't stand out as anything amazing.
Normally an anime without any character development would've upset me and cause me to give it a bad review right there, but Boku dake ga Inai Machi did very well giving ONLY the three most important characters' backgrounds, but even then, we really know almost nothing about any of the characters. Its an insignificant detail but I feel like they could've made this anime a little longer, maybe a 13 episode, just to but in a little more detail for certain characters instead of just making them extremely important but not letting us know why they cared about the MC so much. Clearly the Mother's reasoning was obvious but the really questions is why Kenya went as far as he did to make sure the MC had his justice. There just did not seem to be any reason other than making it convenient to the anime.
Overall, I thoroughly thought this anime was extremely well made and had a lot doing it justice. My feeling for the MC during the whole anime just never quit wanting to make sure he hit that goal of finding the killer and the reason that these outrageous events were unfolding. This anime will become a favorite of mine for sure; it just had so many key aspects that I always look for in anime. Just so much of it clearly stood out above the rest, and no matter how heavy or soft the cliff hanger was, you always felt a desire for more, it was just THERE. Like an undying thirst of a zombie, you just wanted it without a reason to feel so invigorated! I rated this anime a 10/10 because, while I had some issues with the art and characters, I feel it was just too greatly executed to not get a 10. I hope everyone can enjoy this anime and this new voice actor!!

Alright, image you have this prized animal. You take care of this animal constantly. Now imagine that for some reason these kids keep tennis balls at your prized anime every day. Now imagine that a giant airplane fell directly out of the sky and, onto your animal, but inside that plane is carring fireworks so as it crashes, they all go off and its a pretty display of colors and awesomeness. I feel like thats exactly what Myself; Yourself did to my feelings with its hints and its conclusions. Myself; Yourself is quite the amazing anime, using a lot of different ways to draw, hold,
...
and entertain its audince with suspence, mystery, and a shade of romance.
I feel like I need to start with the lowest score first on this one. The sound was nothing close to what the rest of the anime was. I could NOT stand some of the voice acting; Voice actors are suppose to draw out the emotions of the characters in their situations and utilize their emotions to make a perfect symphony of character voices that stand out above all else, but I feel only the main character was able to (SOMETIMES) pull that off. To top it off, I feel some of the voices for the characters didn't even belong to them sometimes and couldn't properly tell the voices apart. The intro song was pretty alright but I feel the video they used for it saved it a lot but also was a double edged sword since it didn't exactly match with the sound.
Now I know this was a 2007 anime and most animes that came out at that time had this issue but I couldn't get behind the body perportions on the characters. Weither it be the eyes, the hair, the bust, the waist, andything, I just couldn't get behind it as none of them ever seemed to be properly perportioned to the character. Normally when the art stands out to me, its because it has a beautiful color pallete; Myself ; Yourself did not, and I'm very happy for that as the bright and bleek colors made the anime feel more realistic than it would've with an intenst arrary of sparkly colors. Every background character also had a lot of work done on them so it went even farther into a realist setting.
When beginning Myself; Yourself, theres an immedite happy, romancy vibe between all the characters that feels all tingly, and that continues for quite awhile. Each character had their background detailed and thought-out, allowing each character to hit home with its viewer. Normally you get lots of over complicated -dereing with the main characters, but I think Myself; Yourself did very well workign its way around those arcetypes very smoothly, as it slowly removed the -dere from their personailies and slipped in some psyhco and trauma to influence the way each character lived and intereacted with eachother.
Now heres where it gets good, the plot was actually plot! No fanservice plot! Directly from the start of the anime it had a very well laid out path for the MC to follow and possibly have a great ending. Slowly and slowly, little details creep into small parts of the anime in weird places and start to redirect the way the anime looks and feels, changing it into a haywire plot where almost anything can happen. I feel the director did very well in planning this and had a lot in mind for each character.
I throughly enjoyed the way this anime played out because it sadisfyed my need for a romance, put that mystery in there to figure out, and kinda left me with some trauma over the character's trauma! The plot was very unique and held a very captivating ideal for the characters to interact with the plot. After all the conclusions were over, I think I applud the ending most because I don't think ending an anime like Myself;Yourself wouldn've been clean in anyway if the director didn't change the direction it was going, but at the same time, changing it was a big risk as the final conclusion was rather harsh and quite dark. Overall, This anime was something else. Something that I think I would most defiently watch again with a friend or even just for another dark feels trip. I wouldn't nessicarly reccomend it for beginners but I think most people could enjoy this anime just as much as I did. Most defiently deserved a 9/10 with a highly reccomended watch!

Ore Monogatari hit home for me. Way out of the field, nothing to even consiitor, it just won. It takes thestory of two friends that have known eachother since their kindergarden days and puts them in a world full of ramance. It rellates both characters to the japanese nursery story of the red ogre and the blue ogre, one wants to make friends so the other makes a commention to show the people that the first is not a bad guy. I feel they hit very key points everywhere, leaving me utterly astonished by how they ended it so perfectly.
I feel the sound needs to
...
be hit first since it was just LOVELY. I was blown away by how perfect every voice actor matched their character and their roles. Each voice held its weight to the love and it clearly showed that each actor had a good feel for these roles, making me want to hear them again in the future for whatever anime they might be casted in. Now the bgm, that... that stuff was something else. Honestly, I got so involved in the anime that I completely ignpored the bgm often enough that I didn't actually think there was any but when I started listening to it, I was very impressed. The intro song will forever be ingraved in my mind. It was one of the most catchy, love-feely intro I've heard in a long time and after trying to watch episode 4 without it, the anime didn't feel complete.
Shoujo art has a very unique and awe filled art style that emphisises on the love and the emotions in the characters face that you just don't normally get from other animes or art style, or even a lot of real TV. Yes, shoujo art is very one sided, eaither you love it or you hate it. I feel ORe Monogatari did somethere with that that a lot of other animes are trying so hard to do these days; they went right out with its art and pretty much said "if you like shoujo art, this anime is gonna blow your mind because its gonna have all the art feels you need!" and completely ignored trying to appaise those that don't like shoujo, which in turn, may not get them as many viewers, but it definatly makes it a show that highly appeases those that like shoujo. The array of colors used for the characters was very nice and it made each character feel alive, while still give that 2-D feel that we all love. Now the one issue I did have with the art, was that it never looked the same twice. Proeportioning issues where everyone between height diffences, which did make me a little confused here and there.
Each character had their own way of working their way into your heart, weither it be through force or by -dereing its way it. Even watching a second character get turned down, and loving the main girl, it just broke me up when anyone got rejected at anytime during this anime. I do wish the characters had more background and had more of a story to tell, but I feel they hit the relationship developments extrordinarily well. The fact that we only get to meat the MC's parents was kidn of a let down to be honest, as I would have loved to see an episode where the hero meets the Heroine's parents.
Plot devolpment in this anime was instintanious. There was no buffer, there was no wait, you knew exactly how the anime was gonna felt from the first episode. Or atleast thats what I thought after seeing. Making this anime actually have a main topic for the MC instead of his struggle TO get that #1 person was a brilliant idea. Showing the soft side of a giant MC is always a great idea and giving the assertive role to the heroine was jaw dropping. Throught the story, I felt that everything progressed astonishingly well and kept me involved and wanting more each minute.
The feels this anime gave me were on par only with Your Lie In April and even then, I feel it can't even begin to compair to them because Ore Monogatari just had such a strong way to show that it was it's onw style of romance and had too much going for it to be just another shoujo romance. I enjoyed every part of this anime and enjoyed every aspect of the director's ideals for these characters. Overall, its just too good to pass up for anyone. I feel it has to be watched.

When you think of a normal romcom, you get a blonde twin-tailed tsundere, an assertive kuudere, an overly joyous touchy-feely sister character, or maybe a yandere. Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata brings you all that, and with a friendly, "you have to watch this anime" hook.
I'll start with the characters: All perked my interest, none held it at all though, seeing as no character had any feature that really put them ahead of any other in a way as to appeal to the differences in people's likes. While the characters all had their own development with the MC, none had any development without him.
...
As anime art goes, it was really impressive. I enjoyed watching the fluent transitions without the need for the exaggerated, 3-D motions that are used in a lot of animes these days, which I have nothing against, actually all for, but seeing an anime that was recently realesed not use it and have it done well impressed me a lot. Now it has a bad habit of transitioning its filter to that similar to No Game No Life, pallet and animation wise, which was weird and not very enjoyable.
The sound was amazing. I think they chose their voice actors very well, as each character had an emotional feel to their voices as they spoke, no matter how sarcastic or brutal their lines were. Even the "boring, no moe" character felt real! The music they used was actually really cool and well used. Many a times my anime friend and I would stop and just listen to the music because we actually enjoyed it. Normally jumping between upbeat and slow songs between episodes doesn't sound very good or give a good mood to an anime but I feel that using the kind they did, when they did it, was pretty cool. The intro was on another level as far as romcoms go. I didn't skip it even once.
Jumping into the story, it was rather weak, or maybe just bland. The opening hook had me captivated within the first 10 minutes of the anime, but by episode 6, my mind was wondering and focusing became hard as the story really wasn't making any progress or any new developments. Even the "relationship development" that was going on during those episodes was weak and rather uninteresting. Around episode 8, I got my interest back since the story took a large leap and the characters finally felt like they were making an impact on the MC's personality.
All in all, it was a good anime. It just had many issues holding my attention, and really only kept it with the random fan service. Enjoying the characters was definitely easy as they all had their interesting points and all the heroines were most definitely eye candy. As I said earlier in this review, The hook was phenomenal and had me locked. The intriguing idea that he had to make a game based off a girl he just looked at, and then more enthralling as he wanted to form this "unfished girl" into a perfect otaku, moe, model girl. It was a good anime as a start but I think it needed more in its middle. Overall, a good anime, but I think it could use work.

Alright I'm giving this anime an almost perfect score, very unusual for me to do so. But the love, and the drama, and the feels, and the love was just too good! It was beautiful! Everything was just beautiful! The sounds of the piano were heartfelt, the freedom of the violin was awe striking, even the characters voices portrayed a deep feel of love.
The story was deep, thoroughly thought out, everything had its goal and shone no matter what it was, even the comical relief was beautiful! The flow of ideas and the heartwarming through plucking of heart strings left me enthralled in every moment
...
of this anime. I'm not a musician, never really had an inkling for classic music either, but the way Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso portrayed a deep freedom through every touch of a key, every pull of strings, brought me to tears EVERY time!
Now to talk about the music and the art in this anime as two separate things would be wrong for this anime; both were so intriguingly entwined with each other that each emotion, each decision, was brought to life in an exquisite array of colors. The voice acting felt like the characters voice was actually alive and that the actor actually felt the pain, the sorrows, the excitement, and the freedom that their character was going trough like it was their own. The beautiful pallet of colors used for every scene made it all the more real, like it wasn't just on a screen, but actually happening in front of you. The sparkles off every note, the hue of every blush, the shine of every tear, had their own meaning, and each more symbolic then the last.
The character development for the three main characters was absolutely beautiful. Their stories held so much meaning and every event, so symbolic, painted a better picture of who that character was and why they became so attached to what made they who they are. The rival characters all had a story looking for some deep desire that the MC drove them to need. I wish they added more a story behind some of the other characters like wataru and the girl who was always with tsubaki, seeing as they were a big of the final result, thus being the only thing to drop my score to a 9.
The feels of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso were beyond heart pulling and awe striking, though I've used those words, its to a level that can't described by words, like how emotions were felt through the song of the musicians in the anime. I cried at least a little at every episode for something, whatever reason it may have been, I cried because it was beautiful. The symbolism in this hard was hardcore, everything had a meaning.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso was a masterpiece through and through, the drama was lovely, the love was heartwarming, the sorrow was painful, the tears shared, the music free, the characters unique, and the ending spectacular. This anime will forever be one of the best dramas I've ever seen and will have the set the bar higher than just about anything else I've ever watch! Your Lie In April was love.
