When first reading this manga through browsing around Kondansha site, I had zero expectations whatsoever.
After giving a shot around 3 chapter I'm ready to roast it to death but when I re-read it again it manage to capture my little hope.
How to start this review because I don't know how to properly describe this manga. The first panel I thought the manga is about "My sister is among them" 2.0 remake but it wasn't the case for this and definitely not remake of Hanayome stuf. The main character or should I say the main harem protagonist in this particular story, he wasn't annoying or dead brained guy. He just your normal person with logical thinking and action throughout his speech, and he wasn't wrong in term of society perse.
Anyway, the manga charm was on the perspective real people struggle and how to dealt with in simple yet very manga way making it very memorable.
You can say that this is definitely a rhythm game with actual protagonist Producers and personality type guy

Often times we were looking at the fantasy trope nowadays about heroes, but how about we look at the way around?
Instead asking how powerful heroes are, how about asking where that power come from? How they obtained such unbelievable power?
This manga with classic western tropes of fantasy manage to bringing grim world from other perspective instead showing you heroic action to save humanity this time they slapped you with reality the demon kin must face of brutality of war. I understood how many people didn't like the manga because how many characters ended up as Cannon Fodder, but the impact to the character

development of main character was quite powerful.
I wouldn't say this manga was good perse but the quality on how each fight felt so real and how many those Cannon fodder was real makes me think, "despite of all those trauma, he yet can obtained his best part. I admire this strong will unlike me"
Kuro no Maou was the hero the world needed but don't deserve as the proper Hero.

To be honest, this anime was decades old and I was watching it ages ago where Isekai wasn't even a thing.
After giving some thought I tried to re-watch once again just to see how my perspective on anime was and god surely it's feels so good. Firstly I noticed the character doesn't even have common name like your usual fantasy generic things, instead they're using title as a name (seems familiar with one controversial anime back in 18') after giving second and third episode I realize this anime doesn't do your typical anime stuff but rather they took world building as a theme.

common sense, if the story don't sold you then the character if not then the world building, by far I think the world building pretty make sense and legit make me want to Re-watch first three episode.
About the character design, I don't know how to say it, the character felt lovable and likable but I can't say they're my favourite perse at least they're decent.
Overall the story was interesting and as matter fact it's the only story I know since ages ago that trying to do world-building at that time before anyone else does this genre.

After reading this far it's fair to make a decent comment on this one, right?
Ok, right of the bat I had no idea how and what the intention of the story here because clearly the author didn't have any intention to make the story was connected deeply with the world the mc itself because the story was all around revenge, quite self-explanatory isn't? Although I had to say the story wasn't that bad, it's just lack of connection of what and how or why, for instance he was talking about getting on revenge against those who'd stabbed his back and again why does he

do all that troublesome stuff just to getting the prey all the pain in such a detail like that? I've never seen anything where it took like 10+ chapter to tortured one character with in depth detailed how they're getting brutally killed only in the end they're never gonna get mentioned again afterwards.
Another things worth to mentioned is that the story itself quite boring if you're looking at the excitement of the land he was on, I mean his world was full of sick and twisted world so why bother getting yourself killed again in the first place, it seem the author trying to justified about torturing them even the main villain was brutally killed and even after all of that they're being thrown to the depth of hell, why bother showing up to the audience when in the end we're never bother to know them again. Weird and boring with repeatedly same story over and over again. Let me guess the next chapter 86, he was yet again torturing the villain that ruin the kingdom only to be killed by his hand later on while taking down the whole kingdom and bring them to the ground
Before you slam that downvote let me as ya as questions, assuming you're read this manga and manage to get past 50+ chapter, so whose the true villain here? Is it the king that know about his daughter twisted personality? Is it the princess? Or is it the one controlling the princess that making her personality goes on rouge like that? Yeah, bet ya folks didn't think that far right? Princess you saw as a sick person in the head turned out to be mentally unstable person that get controlled behind the scene 🤣 by the goddess (and her follower), yeah, yeah, you heard me right. Imagine instead he taking the whole kingdom to the ground, imagine if the story where he ended up killing bunch of the back story villain as the whole, taking them to the hell then aftermath he reminiscing the old himself why he doing this, why everything comes to this point, while staring on top of the mountain where the tragedy happen (in hell I mean, because technically he was a "god") and suddenly the one he dear the most just looked back at him with disappointed eyes, in the brink of emotional collapse he back to the earth distancing himself away for hundred of thousand years long, watching the same scenery over and over again hoping that he would died never to be resurrected or to be like this as the newer generation come and gone.
I mean, if the story goes like this I would spam that up vote button for days

First thing first, this review contain my bias toward the anime that most if not all of you would definitely disagree with me
Okay, let me ask a question, when did the last time you, as a single, felt so frustrated because an anime? (don't lie my comrade, I had your six) This anime basically told everyone, hey go get some girl to date with, why waste your time watching cute couple while you're still single?

At the first episode two character that polar

opposite each other was met at park during heavy pour, for the first episode it didn't sold me because I know so much anime with this type of setting where the protagonist is gloomy and the FMC is popular character, in the end it would be garbage Romcom, yet it almost make me want to throw myself to nearby cliff because how pitiful I am.
Amane Fujimiya, the main protagonist with your typical gloomy and rude personality, he also can't clean his room and can't cook well (in short, it was YOU & ME) but at one point after he gave his umbrella to Mahiru Shiina, the female protagonist, he got sick, at this moment his encounter with Mahiru Shiina continue.
When things getting good for two of them, finally something about Mahiru situation was revealed, and yet again, the moment where I thought the protagonist would definitely messed up with dirty jokes in fact he played his role so good that make me smile all the time, this anime probably would easily went to top of the chart if the pacing wasn't being cut off from original sources. Although the pacing kinda weird, yet it still works out very well, probably because the source material was full of stuff that backing up each other as a story.
After several time continue, so their interaction one another also developt, what make me stay for this anime, is how she depicted as well mannered and well dressed female characters, unlike many other Romcom with ecchi scene, in here I almost didn't see it at all, in fact there's a moment where I think 'ah! there is the fan service moment' where Fujimiya start giving piggyback for Mahiru, yet he didn't react like disgusting perverted at all.
The main protagonist personality was likable because how not thick headed dense he is, but is how he trying to considerate toward Mahiru Shiina, even at some point where Mahiru start getting closer to his personal space, he still respect her personal space and trying not to do anything that would ruined their relationship, on the other hand, Mahiru Shiina, she.... erm, cute creature that needed to be petted and hugged every single time, I guess?
Which led me to the bottom of the ocean floor after enduring 7 full episode of suffering and how painful reality in our world. Also, don't worry mate, if you're suffering just like I do, we will make it, we will fine because being single doesn't mean we're can't find girl to date with, right? God Bless for us
From the anime quality, I wouldn't say that this anime was great, there's some hiccups here and there at the animation that sometimes quite irritating to see, but I forgive it for stay consistent with the story, otherwise I would definitely drop this. The sound effect sometimes can be perfect for the mood, but sometimes it didn't work out well, the music though, the first opening it didn't catch my attention at all, yet the ending manage to caught me off guard completely, twice actually.
The anime wasn't perfect in term of how quality it produce, but completely worth to watch because how fluffy their interaction was, in fact, I suggest you to NOT watching this if you're hate being in relationship because this anime would surely make you want to have a girlfriend, a girl with kind heart that accept you for yourself, a girl that doesn't complain about everything and always disrespectful at your personal space, (don't worry mate, we're the same)
So to make this story short, this anime so painful to watch as a single, to make matter worse, anime girls doesn't exist in reality world, oh lord please go easy for this poor soul.

"Heroes that saves the world, yet, what happen to them if their duty has been fulfilled? Do they wish for money? Status? Women? or simply a freedom?"
That's what the story really is, at first I didn't expect the story to be this good, especially with Isekai theme that start to get on my nerve often times, but this story was very different from any other out there.
For starter, we've been introduced with our protagonist, he is a full grown adult unlike many Isekai where normally the protagonist are literally a dumb AF, highscholler with harem nonsense, all those stupid things are not in this story.

The main character as a leading figure in the story, acted like he really is a main protagonist of his own story and filled the story of his own journey, the encounter with female protagonist also not really cliche just like many Isekai story where one protagonist met with one girl and then growing to full fledged harem after, instead HAREM the protagonist acted like a person fit at his age where he didn't really put any interest toward girl because he is an adult, as a side note uptill the last Volume of the story he still hasn't develop any romantic interest toward anyone because his past during his first journey with his old friends.
I can talk a lot about this Novel because how good it is, this is literally a fantasy novels I've keep looking for such a long time.
Ok, to solidify things up why I think this Novel are great and you should read it as well.
This novels doesn't have any harem element whatsoever, this Novel can be summarize as "Journey of a wandering Hero" because that's exactly how to describe how his situation in the story really is. He had that solid background why he afraid of certain things, he act like a proper adult at his age, and how the world building perfectly match the world around him.
Just by reading this reminded me when I was 8 reading a book about a tales of the heroes, where the hero keep on journey endlessly while enduring so much pain behind his back.
That's it, and I hope you would consider read this

Another piece of disappointment in my life.
If I had a chance to go back then I would never touch this genre ever!
For starter, this manga involve two characters and two of them are good friend each other until one of them choose to cheer his friend from heartbroken by cosplaying as a girl, and then the friend fall from his beauty, welp I can't blame him for that

Outstanding, as I expected from Saikawa sensei!
This manga is awesome for everyone whose tired and bored of the "opposite gender" theme, but be careful fella once you've stepped in THERE'S NO GOING BACK ANYMORE, so please read at your discretion
