Both shows consist of characters using materialized weapons to kill alien invaders by destroying their cores. They also both have a locked away "patient 0" that has been changed in someway from their interaction with the alien invaders and researching this change is what allowed the characters to create the weapons they use to fight off the alien species.

They both contain a romantically clueless main character surrounded by women with similiar archetypes that all fall in love with him. Each anime also takes place at a school specifically designed to teach students how to use identicle exoskeleton weapon systems with the main character having a high affinity for the weapon system, which makes him the best "pilot" even without any combat experience whatsoever.

Shinmai Maou no Testament
add

These anime have almost the same exact premise with very minor adjustments to set them apart. The biggest difference is in DxD the mc serves the demon princess while in Testament the demon princess serves the mc. DXD also has better story development but Testmanent has a lot more fanservice, so it just depends on what you value more.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.

Each anime contains a male lead that avoids relationships with others because he doesn't think it's worth the effort. Through avoidance and observation, these main characters have developed a skill set for reading others and are forced to use that quality when a big sister esque character convinces them to join a club centered on helping people. While in this club, they develop friendships and love interests while also slowly changing their bleak outlook on life.

Haikyuu!!

Both anime have one main character with enormous potential but no skill that wants to be the ace of the team and another that is a genius of the sport. The genuis tells the ace what to do allowing them to complete each other making them the greatest duo anyone has even seen. The only difference is the main characters of Haikyuu show more development allowing them to be good individually and the main ace character is a little more confident than the one in Ookiku Furikabutte. The story of Haikyuu is also a little more realistic and I ended up becoming more invested in it even though both are great series.

Devilman: Crybaby

They both have the same exact premise of a different "species" taking over humans and hiding within society until the time when they can take over. The main characters also go through similiar changes and confront some of the same challanges throughout each series. Devilman is definitely the darker of the two but still pretty much mirrors Kiseijuu until the end where each show goes on a different path, which is cool because you can see two very different outcomes to basically the same story.
