The subplot with the Yandere girl was unnecessary, but besides that, this series was really good, and I didn't expect to enjoy it so much. My expectations were not very high going in, but I was pleasantly surprised. Going in based on the first few episodes, the characters had a lot more depth than I thought they would. I found the main character to be interesting because of the trope of the damsel in distress being flipped into a character that is actively avoiding playing into this. This truly felt like the end of Nishikata and Takagi's journey and childhood. We watched them grow up and mature over the years. The growth that their relationship and chemistry has had was beautiful to watch. Shifting over the course of the series from Nishikata believing that Takagi only teased him for fun, to him beginning to realize that she had feelings for him. As well as Nishikata's feelings for her being recognized by himself.
