Realistic portrayal of trauma and how it affects characters, albeit in different ways. I find that both authors have an understanding of it and a way of depicting it without trivialization. Both titles are BL and have some disturbing themes/content

The same 'makes you end up hating every single character' energy, somewhat uncomfortable reads with a glimmer of hope.

Dark atmosphere, dealing with hallucinations and questions on human nature. Fans of one are sure to enjoy the other quite a bit.

Both of these stories are very touching, heartwarming and heartbreaking at times. Fact that both deal with lgbt themes may drive some people away, but I believe that everyone, no matter their orientation and gender identity should give them a try, that they'd enjoy these stories greatly and be able to get a lot lot of them.

Very realistic portrayal of mental illness, despair, loneliness, alienation from others and not wanting to grow up while you inevitably will. Showing the struggle to be a part of society and looking for an escape from it. Additionally, both stories convey that you are the only person who can save you.

-Similar dark and at times hopeless atmosphere -Psychological and existential, with a lot of depressing themes -Consistently explaining motivations behind everyone's action without imposing generic set of morals -Similar art -Similar protagonists (If you ever happened to read these two at the same time you'd see many parallels between Denji and Reiji: Besides being blonde, frail , depressed 17-year olds finding themselves in hopeless circumstances, and with bleak outlooks in future, they are susceptible to influences of others and some of the main part of plot progression is them being taken advantage of/toyed by manipulative people, who happen to be female villain-protagonists -Same "hot_garbage_dumpster_fire_I_wonder_what_is_going_to_happen_next" factor Those who enjoyed one are very likely to like the other

Both shows have similar, somwhat dark atmosphere, are packed with action and very fun to watch, while at times pondering on more serious topics. Both have supernatural elements, and [minor spoiler] deaths of many characters. One of the similarities is also main character that undergoes a change in his life and acquires abilities that he's never dreamed of, suffers, changes forever and learn more about what it is to be human. And both OSTs are amazing, animation is solid (jjk's animation is more impressive imo, but Parasyte also looks amazing)

Because incest obviously, and generally sad mood and melancholic soundtracks that portray it.
