I'm writing this review while having in mind that the first manga i have saw was Kyo Samurai Deeper ( Akimine Kamijyo's first manga ). So, I will be a lot more strict about this manga, because I'm thinking that Kamijyo take too much elements from his previous work.
Story : 6/10
The first volume was quite good, with the mysterious blue flame of Ogami Rei, and the notion of justice. But, with the time, he doesn't tell anything new, and a lot of events are predictable because it's following most of the time the rules of shounen manga. Kamijyo takes too much time to reveal
...
some secrets, without reason, except for the timing, which is not perfectly used. The worse is that the author takes the same plot from Kyo Samurai Deeper, with unexplained things in the past, hierarchy inside the enemy's side, the higher you are, the mightier you are, etc....
Art : 7/10
It's without mistake possible, Akimine Kamijyo's art. Beautiful, with a lot of luminosity effects. Caracters are well designed. But for a manga about justice and cruelty, he should have used a darker style.
Character : 2/10
Seriouly, it makes me cry. I could call most of the main characters by the name they had during Kyo Samurai Deeper, and i could talk about it with someone who have seen the two, it would be understandable, because they are the same. Ogami Rei is Kyo, Sakurakouji is Yuya, it's the same with Akira, Akari, Muramasa, Yukimura and Hotaru ( Keikoku ). All the evils characters from the beginning are caricaturated so much that I am thinking Kamijyo tried to put some symbolism to make the sense of justice of each character more understandable, which is not necessary. And so, the villains, are evil, and want to kill a lot of people, cute childrens included, and nice guys are tsundere or something near. Even Ogami, more rude than the other, is kind, and the rudest he talks, the kindest he will be.
It's clichée.
Enjoyment : 6/10
Bad character makes me sad, so I'm depressed. Still, they are some very funny situations.
Overall : 5/10
It could have been a good manga, if Kamijyo didn't plagiarize his previous work, and put something realistic in his villains, and put less shounen moments ''it's fine if we are together''.
