At first I didn't know if this was worth reading, as it fairly closely follows the events of the anime. However the translator's notes at the end of every volume provided interesting facts and context I would not have known otherwise, so I kept reading.
There are some key differences in the manga that explore more facets of the characters, changing up the story in some ways while keeping the core events largely the same.

Sometimes you find a story that is so catered to your tastes you'd swear it was made for you. For me, that is this manga. This is an excellent subversion of isekai tropes that uses running themes among those types of stories to say something real about the human condition.
Just to clarify, this is not an isekai. It's a slice of life that mixes comedy and dark themes that just so happens to heavily involve the isekai genre as part of its storytelling. It's funny.
