I went into this anime having already read and thoroughly enjoyed the manga and I have to say, this was a total letdown. I *highly* suggest reading the manga beforehand because there are many things they cut out just for the sake of the MC's relationship. Without giving much away, one of my favorite plotlines was merely reduced to a couple of conversations and made my favorite character seem like a jerk. Honestly, I don't know how they did it but the protagonist Yoshioka seems more obnoxious than she is in the manga. Without spoiling anything, the ending isn't realistic to the manga at all. ... If you've already watched the anime then you should read the manga to get the actual ending, compared to the anime I'd say buying the series is completely worth it. The anime doesn't even really touch on Murao's whole storyline, which I am so disappointed about. Murao's whole plotline was one of the best written in my opinion. In summary, I'm just really disappointed in this. I would rate it 4 stars in comparison to the manga but it's a 7 by itself. Without all of the context from the manga, there are some weird plotholes that could easily be covered by adding only a couple of extra scenes.

This is about what you expect from a normal shojo romance manga plot-wise, but its uniqueness comes from the characters.

This is a pretty long read and pretty drawn out at parts, but in the end, I'd say it's a pretty worthwhile read if you've got plenty of money to spare on 13 volumes. In my personal opinion, I think that the volumes themselves could be a bit longer to spare the books. One of my only personal complaints about the series is that I feel it gathers a bunch of tropes and throws them into different plot points in the story, so at times ... it can feel more like a slice of life genre than a plot-driven romance.

One thing I like about this series is the art style, I think the art style is really majestic and has very bubbly. The characters are ones you can really relate to and have a realistic set of actions. Ao Haru Ride is a very light read and has a lot of predictable plot points.

I think this was very fun and a refreshing read from some manga or anime with darker tones. I know I was constantly walking to my local bookstore trying to pick the next volume and was always on the edge of my seat. If you are thinking about reading this I fully recommend you do so, I adore this book and am looking forward to reading more of Io Sakisaka's works!
