What ruins this anime a bit for me is the overhyped and story pacing.

I've heard a saying that "Seeking revenge is to dig two graves." and this anime serves that well. Perhaps the concept that revenge is meaningless but sometimes needs to be dodne for jusstice is also appropriate.

The first 3 or 4 episodes are okay. I'm into true crime podcast so watching this series is interesting for me. The plotting and the schemes although a few seems like unreasonable and impossible most of the schemes are realistic. I say they are unrealistic as it just favors the MC alone most of the time.

The side ... characters for this anime are like a plastic cut out simple minded characters that can't even think some true logic despite being in the higher ranks of mafia. It feels odd.

Needless to say this anime is not for me but for some, they might enjoy it as this series only have 12 episodes plus a bonus 13th episode.

The first thing I look for any sports anime or rather anime is of course the animation and this anime delivers.

I love the animation and the characters. Some of them are literally lowkey Jojo built. The motions of the characters while in match and practice are clean cut and eye-catching. Both opening and ending songs are beautifully chosen and animated. I love the patterns used and I find myself hooked for the songs and not skipping them for several episodes.

Aside that the beginning of this anime is quite different from other sports anime I've watched. This makes the anime unique. What surprised me is the ... sport Kabbadi itself being in an anime because as far as I know it's a sport popular in South Asia. I share the same skeptical with MC for the sport which makes watching him untangling and breaking that skepticism in the series makes it more interesting.

Lowkey besides being a sport anime, I think this series also portrayed good use of scenes for comedic effect while being truthful. I multitask when I watch this so I had to replay some comedic scenes to make sure I'm hearing correct and getting the joke the second time. I laughed several times replaying the same scenes.

I have two complaints. First, this series only have 12 episodes. Which I think not enough for this anime because the progressing of the episodes during the matches are slow. Although some scenes are necessary, the prolongation of the scenes I deemed to be unimportant.

The second complaint is about the side characters. Some side characters only flourish through out the first quarter of the anime, or like for 2 episodes, then they just exist and have some dialogues here and there. Other side characters are also like forgettable and barely do anything in the matches. They just exist for the sake of the plot and like that's it. I know they are side characters for a reason but it's frustrating to watch them like that.

But that's just me. I still would recommend this anime because I enjoyed it and it was informative to watch.

A refreshing sport anime with lots of character development. The MC, Kakeru is like the blue print of many sports anime MC, unwilling to run cause of his previous trauma. Progressing through the story, viewers will uncover the reason for his trauma despite being effortlessly talented in running.

Overall, the anime itself is very good with the opening and ending songs being quite catchy and will definitely pump up the viewer's spirits. I have mixed feelings about the animation. It's not exactly sparkling, or well detailed but it is clean with a little mix of 3D CGi being thrown here and there for some episodes of ... the characters running.

The highlight of this anime will definitely be the characters development, despite some were just put in the halt for the progress of the anime. The anime doesn't sugar coat the reality of life like "Hey we're doing this thing together" and everyone will just be on board without questioning everything. Nevertheless, the characters development were still satisfying and unique for each of the characters.

The inclusivity and the issues portrayed of racism in the anime have my kudos. It's raw and realistic showing how some Japanese are discriminating the foreigners because of their nationality and skin color. I never expected to see this being like shown in a sports anime but this anime executes it well.

My complaints for this anime mainly for it's pacing and maybe hard to understand rules of the marathon and time estimation. Up until the last race, I can understand how the rules of the marathon work but during the last race I had to rewind some parts where the anime explained the rules. The ending, although being the perfect conclusion feels rushed and unsettling in my opinion but it is well deserved for the characters.
