This movie is definitely not one that is made to please everyone. After a decade has passed with one of the most critically acclaimed ending anime has ever seen, those who have shed countless tears in the original anime may find this movie one awaited for so long…or just a nuisance. That is perfectly fine, for the original ending was a brilliant one. Yet, you must remember that this movie is an alternate ending in a parallel universe. One can be content with the ending in R2 or choose to continue the events with what happens in Re;surrection depending on how you wish to see
...
it unravel. Pick whichever way to think of this movie and you will save yourself of the confusion and unsettled thoughts.
Now, bear in mind that I went into this movie as a fan with memories of both seasons in mint condition. Also, I have no high expectations -I truly just wanted to see the characters again. I missed them dearly and to see them more vibrant than ever, I was already content.
So however you perceive this movie from the beginning definitely has a big impact on your overall enjoyment so my words may mean nothing to you. But stay seated to hear my thoughts… because I wish to share my undying love for this series even after over 10 years has passed since we first heard the name Lelouch Lamperouge.
STORY [7/10]
My first thought after leaving the cinema was “I wish they turned this into a series of movies like Akito the Exiled”. I’m pretty sure that many others would agree with me on how there is so much more potential for this movie to dwell on various aspects such as the lives of the side characters and to give a better viewpoint about the peace that Lelouch has brought through the Zero Requiem. The beginning is heavily rushed and we barely get to see Nunnally and the overall governance of the new world before she is kidnapped. What follows after, though, I have no huge qualms over it. The introduction of our beloved protagonists is simple yet enough to showcase their current situation. I truly just wish that the side characters who play a bigger part in the setting get their own disposition just a tad bit better without an obvious impatience to reveal our main characters.
With that out of the way, the overall idea for Zilkhstan and its own government and characters are nicely done without being too overbearing or of little knowledge. It is a believable setting with a reasonable motive to move the characters accordingly. Also, the main antagonistic Geass creates great tension and mystery to how the entire battle would ensue. I was honestly at the edge of my seat as their battle of wits reach its climax for I truly did not know what Lelouch had to do to defeat it and for that, I can’t think of a way to criticize it too much. I truly liked the antagonists and it just brought back the same nostalgic battles to life once again.
In my opinion and most possibly on a biased level, I just adore the ending. Due to spoiler reasons, I will leave you to enjoy the ending on your own and while you may understand my own thoughts, you may also think I am silly to love it. Again, each to their own and in my own thoughts which comprises of my favourite ship and characters, I can’t think of a better ending. I am willing to buy the Blu-Ray once it is released just to relive the beautiful ending once more.
ART [9/10]
What is not to love of CLAMP’s iconic style especially when it is further improvised with advanced animation and attention to detail… it is so pleasing to watch. Of course, for those who despise the lanky, ridiculously long limbs…I understand it may not be a sight to see for you but I for one enjoy the limbs as much as I love their large, shiny, expressive eyes. But I would not say that the characters are the reason as to why the art is a 9/10 -it is the Knightmare frames and how BEAUTIFUL they are. With the new Zilkhstan force’s machinery as well as the improvised Guren and Lancelot’s upgrades, they were a sight to see. It is also a marvel as the animation throughout the mecha battles are not compromised. They truly brought back the excitement of these battles as the Knightmares go against one another with their own sets of systems and attack patterns. While it is definitely fresh and done with up-to-date animation, it never goes above and beyond how the original anime looks and feels. Unlike Akito the Exiled with its 3D rendered Knightmare frames, the movie almost looked like it belonged side by side with R2 with just a few adjustments to enhance it. I love that they never compromised the fidelity with its original counterpart as I think it is the perfect way to effectively appeal to the fans’ nostalgia and also as a humble move to honour the identity of the original anime.
SOUND [8/10]
While it is unfortunate to not have FLOW participate in this movie, the soundtrack is nothing less of what I would expect for Code Geass. It is dramatic, sometimes in-your-face but propelling the viewers to feel the excitement and tension of the battles. While not the most hair-raising music for an anime movie, it does not fall astray from the overall emotion that Code Geass has brought thus far. Once again, they tried to stay true to the original concept and setting which I appreciate.
Also, the opening and ending songs did not disappoint. Leo Ieiri’s “Kono Sekai De” truly brought back the initial nostalgia once it plays alongside the revelation of our protagonists and I can’t lie; it brought tears to my eyes. It encapsulates their situation an their struggles as well as creating the perfect mood for their journey. My personal favourite will definitely go to the ending with UNIONE’s “REVIVE”. The piano playing right as the final scene ends and rolling in the credits had me wishing I could turn back time 2 hours back to relive the movie all over again. It is also representative of Lelouch’s journey and what he has once again given to the world following his return. It truly is a wonderful revival for Code Geass and I have to say… it also encapsulates how I feel about the movie as a whole. It brought back my child-like wonders to the series and knowing that this will stay in my heart even as life moves on.
CHARACTER [8/10]
I would like to keep this part short as most of my criticisms pretty much go hand-in-hand with what I said for the story; I just wish there was more time for the side characters. As much as I adore our main cast, a lot of the side characters contributed a lot to the series and it could have been so much more emotional to dwell in their thoughts and emotions before commencing the story. Especially for Nunnally who is the backbone behind all the actions Lelouch has done, I wanted her to have her own little moment in the very beginning. Even Suzaku’s life as the new Zero is an interesting point of view to see albeit briefly. These reasons are honestly the only reason why despite my obvious bias towards the series, I can’t rate this movie any higher even if I want to.
However, I will give a thumbs up to C.C’s characterization. It was a breath of fresh air while also reliving why she is one of my favourite female characters in anime of all time. While some might disagree and state that they miss the colder, almost heartless C.C, that totally contradicts with everything she has gone through in the one-year blank. Her new disposition is realistic and contributes so much to Lelouch as a whole. Also…her expression in the ending is just BEAUTIFUL.
ENJOYMENT + OVERALL [9/10]
I won’t deny my obvious bias to this series. It is probably one of my top 3 animes of all time and to be brought back into this world after a decade was something I never knew I yearned for so much. Even with the movie only airing in a different state, I drove up all the way to watch it alone. I’d regret to miss it and once the credits finished rolling, I knew I made the right decision and I knew that Code Geass will remain highly in my list after all these years. I honestly wish I had real life friends who loves this series as much as I do to share my thoughts and emotions about this movie but…I suppose reviewing it here is the most I could do for now.
For those who have not seen it and could catch it in a cinema near you, please stay seated until the very end as there is a post-credits scene which will keep you though-provoked and almost yearning for more. And of course, I hope it is not too late to say… Welcome back Lelouch and thank you for everything!

Let me start off by saying...the idea of powerful motorized roller blades caught me the minute I read the synopsis since, I'm someone who had been roller blading for years as a casual sport. Add some out-of-this-world super gears and a lot of imagination, you get Air Gear; an anime that I loved since the english dub version came out. (The last part is a bit out of context but I'll get to that later)
Story:
What more can I say? The story follows a boy on his journey of discovering his true talents and passion with 'Air Trek's and becoming a Storm Rider. Typical shounen plot
...
and it does have super fancy battles but what is not to love about all that with a shounen anime? Combined with sports and a ton of sexy ladies AND men, this anime is much more fun to watch that way. I have to say, I was VERY disappointed that it ended at 25 episodes...there was so much more to be exploited from the manga! Yet, they chose to end it as such a boring final battle and leaving plenty of unanswered conflicts. And for that, no matter how fun it was to dive into the story, I cannot give it above an 8 and I'm being generous about it.
Art:
Hmmm... at some points, the anime does have its art a little wonky compared to the beauty of the mangaka's art style but I cannot turn a blind eye towards the animation though. It was BEAUTIFUL especially in scenes where it showcased the fluid movements of the Storm Riders doing tricks and all the fancy stuff. Hahaha...they definitely brought the manga to life with the animation and it is one of the reasons why I'm so disappointed that they ended the anime. Check out the OVAs! THEY WERE PERFECT! Just like most sport animes, Air Gear stands out with its fluid animation and I have no problems about that!
Sound:
Right from the get-go we get the opening and let me tell you, I have that very song on my phone's playlist and even its MAGINIFICENTRAL MIX version by Skankfunk RIGHT NOW and that is enough to describe how much I love the soundtrack for this anime. Not to mention the hip-hop theme totally matches the overall mood of the anime. 10/10 FLAWLESS.
Character:
You can hate on the characters all you want for many reasons but I'm still giving it a perfect score. Truth be told, I hated Ringo and at first it was due to her Japanese seiyuu...I'm sorry but she sounded unnecessarily annoying in Japanese. Not only Ringo but Ikki sounded completely awkward in Japanese too. And here is where I confess that I actually prefer watching Air Gear in ENGLISH DUB. OH EM GEE...THIS IS BLASPHEMOUS.
But I'm being honest and I definitely find the english version much more suitable for the character's personas. Oh, and did I mention the coherent cursing that we get in the dub version? For once they don't sound awkward and it perfectly suited the characters! Maybe it's just me, and yeah...how the hell can I ever admit that the dub is better than the original version?
I still don't know till this day. Do hate on me for this if you'd like but whatever~
Enjoyment and Overall:
Once you watched Air Gear, you HAVE to read the manga. And no, do not start reading from where the anime left off...start over from the beginning. Oh-Great's art will not ever disappoint you. Despite my disappointment that the anime ended at such an abrupt point of the story, I still highly recommend this anime to anyone. It's fun, vibrant and original.
I still wish that Air Gear could get a reboot if not a continuation...I mean, D.Gray Man just got its break once again and they are continuing the anime after nearly a decade (HALLELUJAH~~~!) and who knows? Maybe Air Gear could get one too...because it is a great anime and manga in my personal opinion and I do wish it would get more love by all fellow anime fans. <3

The first time I read this manhwa was probably back in 2010-2011 when I was not really familiar with Korean culture and I did write a review back then... however, I dived back into this manhwa and I think I'm ready to give a better perspective of this manhwa and the fact that IT IS STILL GREAT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
I can't deny that as an avid Yaoi/Shounen-Ai fan, this manhwa remains as one of my all-time favourites and this is coming from years and years of indulging in this genre. And in this review, I'll tell you why.
STORY;
We follow the story of Jung Ewon
...
and his life after being forced to work for the mafia due to his relationship-problems and meets the sexy, bewitching Eun Mookyul; the gang-leader who'd make every other male models cry pathetically.
Now, if you're a constant viewer of Korean dramas, you'd probably understand the basic concept of this story because I have to admit there is a ongoing trend of poor, stubborn protagonists meets rich, handsome and possessive lover in a LOT of K-Dramas. However, I find that completely fine and more so when it is twisted into the world of the mafia and yaoi which equals into a sexy world of hormones exploding in every chapter.
Yoo Hajin takes us into a world of emotions with her witty characters and dialogue despite the dark and violent storyline. I ended up crying and sobbing in a few chapters before laughing and smiling like a goof on the next page.
I'd rate a good manga/manhwa based on how they spiral their readers into a rollercoaster of emotions and this manhwa takes the cake for it and I enjoy every moment of the story.
ART;
Now, when it comes to composition and other bits of details, I'll be completely honest to say that it has flaws if compared to many other manhwa or manga for its stunning details of the characters and background and all the jazz. However, I am enchanted by the character designs and ESPECIALLY their fashion. The author had definitely taken her time to draw the character's outfits making them look completely stunning. I felt like I was reading a fashion designer's catalogue in story-form.
Not to mention that the two main characters looked so hot that I wished they were real (like every other hot anime/manga male character). Oh the pain... hahaha.
So yeah~ flaws here and there but the characters and fashion were just on-point in every page.
CHARACTER;
I feel like if you've read my other reviews, I'm super drawn to the characters more than anything. To me, characters can make and anime/manga a masterpiece or break it into pieces right from the get-go.
Jung Ewon is probably my spirit animal. He is stubborn, headstrong and despite his major flaws of being a weak-hearted playboy and a rather dark past, he is so bright and adorable at the same time. I like how he is stubborn for the right things and not just being the whiny protagonist who simply doesn't want to admit that the male lead IS handsome. Like seriously, it turns me off to see scenes like that. Here, Ewon admits that Mookyul is hot and he even hilariously expresses it freely. Simple and refreshing characterization. I really appreciate that and adore Ewon with all my heart.
Then on the end of the spectrum, Eun Mookyul is our main heart-throb with a devilish sense of humour and also...a demonic temper. I love how he can really appear violent and almost merciless in one moment and then diffuses into a whiny baby on a tantrum. It is just too adorable for words really hahahaha. However, despite certain comedic reliefs of his character...I appreciate how he never goes out of character. He is rough and overtly masculine and that edge never changes about Mookyul. Bring him Ewon, he can be a clingy puppy and also a possessive beast; that is Eun Mookyul for you~ Ugh and don't get me started on his lovey-dovey dialogue for Fox Jung.
OVERALL ENJOYMENT;
I gave this manhwa a 10/10 5 years ago, and I would still give it a perfect score today. I actually loved it MORE when I re-read it recently after understanding the Korean culture and language. I just feel so attached to the characters and the storyline never fails to leave me crying on one page and laughing my guts out in the next before making me roll around squealing at the occasional adorable moments.
And overall...I just love how Yoo Hajin focuses heavily on the sense of friendship, brotherhood and family that runs in the background. You just feel that no matter how alone you may think you are...there will always be someone around that you've taken for granted and when you are faced with your worst, that is when you'll appreciate their presence.
Give this manhwa a shot and after a couple of pages with Ewon and Mookyul...
...you'll be Totally Captivated. *shoots myself for the cheesiness. Whatever!*

Before I start this review, let's just channel the epic "ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNCHHHHH!!" from the opening song because I am obviously not over the One Punch Man feels.
I'll be completely honest and it took me a while to get started on this anime because of all the Tumblr posts that I've been bombarded with by OPM fans...I just see a bald guy with a ever-so-bored cartoon face wearing a yellow/red superhero suit with a cape. A CAPE. The ultimate cliche superhero outfit yet.
I thought it was going to be a typical comedy, silly anime of a bald dude winning fights with just one punch. But
...
boy was I wrong.
It was a HILARIOUS, action-packed masterpiece of a bald dude winning fights by DESTROYING his opponents into a scattering bloody mess with just one punch. And I loved it.
STORY;
You have the life of your average Joe turned superhero after rigorous training to the point where he lost his hair and became bald before becoming the strongest man on earth. It can't get better than this right?
I've heard plenty of OPM haters saying how typical and predictable the plot is which makes it 'boring' for them to continue watching. I understand their point for it is comparable to other action anime which are more drama-filled but to me, those additional plot-lines will become baggage if placed into an anime like this. It is because of it's simplicity that we can enjoy the crazy-awesomely animated battle scenes and indulge in the characters' hilarity.
As a spoiler-free description of the story by my personal opinion, I feel like I have been transported back to my childhood watching Ultraman + a lil bit of Naruto with a blast of Dragonball. If you don't feel the excitement of watching superheroes defeat monsters and bad guys that you may had as a child when you watch One Punch Man, boy...you must be a plain child.
ART;
Right from the get-go, aka the first episode, I was overwhelmed with the amazing animation. I would highly recommend everyone to watch it in 1080p or you'd be missing out in all the crystal clear art that would put many other action-anime to shame.
It's clearer during battles or fights especially when we move through the scenery, following the flow of the destruction or attacks before we see the smooth movements of the characters even at a high-speed panning. I have to give credits to the animators for taking so much detail in every frame which would have been awfully exhausting but it resulted in a great animation for an action-anime and I 100% appreciate that passionate effort. Simply stunning.
SOUND;
Come on....I started this review by mentioning the OP and I am going to repeat myself with the "ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNCHHHHH!!!!!"
Man that was epic! I love it when an opening song is able to grasp the actual feel and concept of the anime so well. It just puts it out there how detailed the staff members are to put together this anime piece-by-piece from taking care of the art all the way to its soundtrack. The ED is not an exception where I feel that instead of playing with the major epicness of the OP, it mellow down to remind us that Saitama is...human. He has a quaint little apartment and he returns home after kicking ass. I like that little aspect where even the strongest superheroes have their moments of normality.
Oh and don't get me started on the actual OST for it is flawless. Then again, if an anime does not have good sound, it is almost blasphemous as bad art.
CHARACTER;
Let us all take a break and make a big applause to Murata Yusuke and ONE for creating such an epic yet, seemingly normal superhero; Saitama. This is probably the first time I find a bald anime character so damn attractive. Ehem~ Anyways... I honestly love how they created Saitama and Genos to balance each other out. The latter is introduced as the 'handsome' one who is prone to be more popular and attractive than Saitama and could have easily been the protagonist of his own story but nope: here, he is just the sidekick to the caped baldy.
I have to say it is hard to find the characters' personalities overlapping with each other meaning that they are mundane and that is not the case. Predictable, yeah but they are all far from plain. We have a bald badass with a cyborg sidekick and later we get a slice of Naruto with a Ninja who gives me the Sasuke vibes except he is more...cheerful and smiley in a creepy way. What can I say...you got to have your Ninjas one way or another.
OVERALL;
Thoroughly, I enjoyed this anime to the point where I devoured it in a single day. I've seen and heard plenty of anime fans trashing on this anime by saying it is 'trying to hard to be funny' or that it is predictable and boring but honestly, I can't see that at all. It is a wonderful series that I regretted not watching any sooner but since I've finished it, I can proudly say that I have not had such a refreshing action anime in a long time. After all the heavily-plotted anime, One Punch Man makes me feel like I have just opened my windows for the first time after being cramped in a dark dusty room; smelling the fresh air and freedom of an anime not conformed by super detailed plots and other baggage and just focusing on being badass.
You don't need tear-jerking scenes or flashbacks of hardships or huge character developments to create an epic show.
Sometimes, you just need bald superheroes and ugly monsters destroying cities with their guts splashed onto the asphalt.
Two thumbs up and a standing ovation for that!

I have heard a lot of hate for Tokyo Ghoul √A and I'll be honest, it triggered my brain to have very low expectations towards it when I first got into it. I did not really absorb the first season as it was incredibly rushed except for a few episodes so it only deformed my expectations for the second season.
But boy, I was not disappointed.
I have not read the manga and therefore, I entered this series completely blank and you may think of me as 'not a real fan of Tokyo Ghoul' for not reading the manga, but it definitely helped me enjoy the anime
...
so I am not complaining.
FACT: You CAN appreciate an anime without a religious standing with the manga. That is something I find in a lot of manga fans who are deluded into thinking that an anime would suck if it did not follow the manga.
Tokyo Ghoul √A is one of the animes that prove this delusional thinking wrong.
Even if the storyline did not completely follow the actual manga, it still delivered the suspense and melancholy of the characters' situations and for me, it was not as rushed as the first season and took its time building on the story of the CCG investigators' lives as well as following Kaneki's brutal growth while in Aogiri. It makes me appreciate both the lives of the ghouls and the humans fighting against them.
And then the ending finished everything perfectly... I won't spoil it but the image of life, death and the struggles of both ghouls and humans were beautifully depicted and it becomes one of my favourite scenes in anime of all time.
As for its art, sound and character, it is mostly consistent and plays along the psychotic melancholic nature of the anime. I have no additional comments other than how I am always captivated by the music of this anime; both this season and the prequel.
My conclusion? To hell with all your gourmet expectations to anime based on the original manga. If an anime is executed well, it becomes amazing. If a manga is total trash, it is still trash. Don't be closed minded and you may be able to appreciate both anime and manga equally.
Tokyo Ghoul √A receives a generous 9/10 from me~!

There is a metaphor that speaks of two parallel lines that have many in common but never meet...but there is another that really graced this movie dearly.
"The two lines that merge closer to one another as time pasts...but once they meet, they will separate forever."
Basic geometry may not really do this movie justice but it perfectly encompasses how their love was destined but not meant to be forever. I am ashamed to have only watched this movie today but I would probably regret if I never did.
STORY
It is a simple tale of forbidden love that grew from strangers to an uncanny friendship and soon evolved
...
into a yearning yet untouchable (literally) love. I loved it...as we are flooded with endless ecchi and harem anime lately, this movie is breathtaking and refreshing despite its foreshadowed sadness.
There is nothing complex or mind-blogging. The story makes you enjoy the smooth sailing through the pure emotions that it gives you.
ART
Just like the story itself, it is beautiful and simple. I do notice that the animation is greatly focused upon as it helps in displaying the soft emotions the story tells. To watch it in itself is very soothing and I think that kind of art just leaves you relaxed and drawn into the story...not realising that time is slowly passing by.
SOUND
To support the story itself requires heavy focus on its soundtrack and in my opinion, they did a very good job in delivering the emotions simply through its peaceful yet softly melancholic music. There are certain points of the anime that does not rely on dialogues and the scenes portray a lot more emotion just with the background music itself. What I noticed is that...the music reminds me of one you hear in a theater; consistent and builds up along the story as if the music itself is narrating.
Of course, with the ending comes a beautiful ending song that continues to build upon the emotions that the movie left us with...pondering and unable to escape it. Beautiful really.
CHARACTER
There is nothing complex about the characters...and I loved that fact. Hotaru's character truly brought the presence of the hidden emotions that she wielded deep inside as well as Gin's. Their relationship develops as the years fly by while being surrounded by others from both the spirit world and the human world...and in between, are the two of them.
ENJOYMENT & OVERALL
It is hard to write review without spoiling the movie but honestly, it can be expected right from the beginning. However, despite so...it still made me shed tears profusely through the ending song and it is such a precious movie that will definitely remain in my heart for a really long time and it will do so to you as well.

A terribly underrated anime which deserves a new season. I have been watching D.Gray Man for 3 years and I always re-watch it whenever I miss the characters so I can confidently say that I've watched 1030 episodes. Yes, I LOVE this anime and there are plenty of great reasons.
STORY
Honestly, I can compare this series to Naruto or One Piece or any other typical shounen anime since it does revolve around the main male lead who continues to grow stronger in the hopes to defeat the ultimate enemy...but this is only the tip of the iceberg.
The plot itself is graced with various genres
...
that combines action with the darkness. Truthfully, it is a really dark anime with a dash of comedy here and there. But it is not always perky as the story takes you into the depths of grief and despair as the characters constantly are led with death, failure and many more gruesome moments but they slowly grow stronger (slowly...unlike a sudden boost of power that came from a super special training or something.)
Oh...important note; yes, there are fillers. But they don't even look/feel like filler episodes. The first time I watched this anime, I went through all 103 episodes without even knowing that there are actually filler episodes. It's amazing. Seriously.
The darkness of the story itself really attracted me from the beginning and I LOVE it.
ART
It does not have the most outstanding art but it is very constant. There is not a lot of change to the art and it is always nice to see a long-paced anime having a very concise art style that does not go out of place and in my personal opinion, gets better gradually as the series progresses. I am personally very driven with good art that elaborates the feel of the actual story. As I've said, the story itself is filled with darkness so the saturation is slightly decreased in several parts of the anime but it maintains the overall emotion.
SOUND
I love every single one of the OPs and I even have some of them in playlist to this day. As the OP usually exemplifies the anime, I believe they did a great job at choosing the songs as well as animating the sequences with it. They fit the anime perfectly and constantly have the same musical genre which I can appreciate.
The actual soundtrack is also very fitting of the story and emotions in which we are able to hear music with a lot of classical instruments used to match the setting of the anime. It does not overpower the scenes but instead, supports them very well.
CHARACTER
This is by far my most favourite part of this anime. I love almost every single one of its characters and definitely all of the main casts. They provide so much entertainment and depth to the story but what makes me enjoy them the most is how they all come together as one but have very distinct and almost different views and opinions throughout the entire anime.
Another major point about the characters is how the mangaka created them to be very fragile and almost...realistically human. You rarely see characters that truly beat up a powerful enemy without a single scratch. You constantly see them really struggling whenever they face these powerful foes which sometimes make me feel as if the enemies are unbeatable and invincible. They would always be injured physically or are hurt emotionally. In turn, they become relatable and I truly cherish every single one of them.
ENJOYMENT & OVERALL
I am totally confident to give this anime a whopping 10/10 because...I just truly enjoy it from start to finish. It gives me the comedic vibes of Naruto with a sinister setting of Kuroshitsuji. I am very disappointed that they simply cut off the anime at a very dynamic point of the manga since they are only beginning to take on the actual enemy and I am always hoping that they would reconsider to continue this anime once the manga is finished.
If you love a mix of dark and light, this anime is one worth to watch.

Alright!
As a girl who does not like shoujo anime/manga...it is very hard for me to even bring myself to watching one from this genre; even so when it is labelled with HAREM!!! I just really don't like harem...original or reversed -I dislike BOTH.
However, OHSHC by my opinion should not be tagged with that genre...and it is by far my most favourite shoujo anime/manga EVER! From the great characters to facepalm-at-rich-snobby-brats moments, I adore this anime.
Story|
I deduct a point from the story since...it gets a little predictable at a certain point but that does not mean I didn't find it hilarious~ The basic summary of
...
the whole story is how Fujioka Haruhi leads her life as a normal 'commoner' in the world of the 6 rambunctious and good-looking princes and falls for one of them. What I like about this anime so much is that despite being surrounded by 6 rich guys, it does not focus on how each guy falls for her unlike other harem-based animes. Sure there are a couple of them who falls for her but the main focus is on the main pair instead of having the one heroine receiving endless love from multiple guys. It's realistic to have at least one or two guys falling for one girl but when it exceeds that number, that's the part where I'd just push the anime far far from my sights.
Okay, enough about the harem-rant...I find story overall ridiculously humorous with bits and pieces of drama that I can accept. However, the main focal point that sets the story in its place of originality is definitely the characters which I'll talk about later but as of now, I love the story so 9/10~
Art & Sound |
I'll just talk about both of these in one paragraph...
The art is not mindbogglingly amazing, but not at all bad in any way. I find the art style to be very light-hearted and it matches with the whole romantic-comedy feel of the anime. The settings can sometimes be very well done which I find that there is still effort to the art of this anime. What I find most to my liking is how the art never contradicts the emotion of the moment; when it is serious, it doesn't clash with the seriousness and when it's comedic, it goes with the whole humorous flow~ I can't really say much but despite being VERY picky towards the art-style of an anime, I like OHSHC's just fine...
The sound...well, the opening is very addictive... I mean, REALLY ADDICTIVE. I find myself singing along to the opening instead of skipping it as I always do with other animes... I like it that much..haha! I think the OST fits pretty well with the anime and the whole 'royal' sounding music makes the rich guys sound more and more like princes instead of just sons and heirs of a rich family. I do appreciate the music to really bring the comedic moments to life because...I just think that the background music explains a certain emotion best so it did well by my opinion~ So overall for both areas, I give them 7/10.
Character |
Oh~ my most favourite part of this anime~
I don't even have to explain to how PERFECT Mamoru Miyano voiced Tamaki~ It's biased I know but I just adore how he always catches the personality of his character and brings them to life and in this case, Tamaki is probably the light of the whole anime...it's lovely to see how the 'King' of the club is the one being bullied and have pranks pulled upon him; yet, he maintains his status by showing consideration and affection for not only the heroine, but his club members as well.
Now, I don't mind when an anime focuses totally on the main pair; I mean...it's a shoujo anime... DUH. But this is why OHSHC is such an irresistable anime...not only do we get to appreciate the main pair's developing relationship but also the other character's growth as well; AND, they do not depend on the main girl to have their own development. In some episode, Haruhi barely does anything and instead, the story focuses on a certain character. I find this to be very refreshing and realistic because...come on...why on earth would 6 guys need one girl to have a change in their lives right?
So yeah...nothing more to say~ 10/10~!
By now, you probably can tell that I really enjoyed this anime and YES. I do. I can re-watch this anime forever and never get bored of it...hahaha! I think I've re-watched this anime completely for about 8 times and as I'm writing this review, I feel like re-watching it again so THAT'S how much I enjoyed it! 9/10 for enjoyment and overall, I think this is a shoujo anime that stands out on its own in this genre. So do give it a try and be amazed by all its ridiculous humour and face-palming moments...I know I did~ ^_^

Right off the bat, I have to admit; I have a distinct love for the ‘dystopian world’ genre. It’s fascinating and something we may never be able to truly understand in the real world. The suffering, the agony and fear of being caged and suppressed…it’s not uncommon, but we definitely don’t live behind 50-meter high walls and don’t see giant naked humanoids eating our family and friends.
That is what makes Shingeki No Kyojin so amazing to me.
The storyline is very simple and easy to understand right from episode 1.
The overall revelation of the exact plot does not allow me to truly comment on it
...
as the manga is still ongoing and I have not finished the manga myself. I do appreciate the anime production team’s job on the whole aspect of suspense in almost every episode that relayed the true fear and tension from the story. As I’ve said, it may not be easy for us to relate to running away from naked giants but the anime portrayed great emphasis on fear, anger and many other extreme emotions that just draws us in. I would be lying to say that I was not at the edge of my seat in every episode. There is also the involvement of the supporting characters which is something I personally enjoy. I really can’t stomach when an anime or manga is ALL ABOUT the main character and that he/she is everything that the story is about –unless, the title itself IS the protagonist’s name. I just love to see the development of relationships amongst characters that adds up more depth into the story. I can’t say much about the story in complete detail for I am placing my bets on a second season AND awaiting the true finale of the manga, however, I can definitely say that the anime itself did a great job in portraying the originality and raw emotion of the story which enables me to give a double thumbs-up.
Now, here is where I want to elaborate on the most; the Art.
Oh how Shingeki No Kyojin blew me away with the majestic animation and art. From the characters to the settings and the details of the animation made me breathless; especially when they portray the use of the 3D Maneuver Gears. Not only that, the lighting and use of slow-motion effects magnified the emotions and suspense of each scene. I am a freak for fine details because it is quite hard to see super-great detail in art styles of shounen-based anime/manga. However, I was not disappointed with Shingeki No Kyojin. It captured the essence of the story beautifully and not to mention the work and effort of the flawless animation. I just…love it. I can’t put my personal happiness in words enough because I just wish that there are more shounen animes with this kind of quality animation; especially for action scenes. Simple thick intense lines and sound effects are not enough to convey a perfect action scene…it is the raw animation and movement of the characters captured frame by frame. That is why I appreciate the effort and work put onto this anime and the art is definitely one of my favourite aspects of this anime; hands down.
The soundtrack used in this anime is just stunning. I personally downloaded the entire OST album to listen to all of its tracks and although some were just…not all that great, there are certain ones that are beyond spectacular. Even by just listening to the background music, you can feel the sadness, melancholy and agony of the characters…and at other times, it builds up the pace into a huge Titan kickass fight. It blends well with the setting and mood of the anime and stays true to its emotions. There are also certain songs that are just plain EPIC which…I have to urge you to watch the anime itself to truly appreciate it. The two opening and ending sequences were also well chosen and in my personal opinion, I LOVED both of the openings…they were amazing. The first opening song captured the main protagonist, Eren’s resolve and anger towards the Titans which is basically the main thing happening in the anime and the second song is more of an evolution into a war-like aspect where you can truly catch onto the soldiers’ resolution for humanity. All in all, I love the soundtrack used in this anime. Great job once again, production team!
Ah, the characters…they can basically become the goldmine or garbage for an anime in my personal opinion. In this case, Shingeki No Kyojin is purely gold. Not saying that every character is awesome, I hated a few characters…but that is the beauty of it. There is never a perfect character and in this anime, ALL the characters are flawed. In the dystopian setting, I think such characteristic is easily found in all of its characters and it makes the anime less…boring? I don’t know about most of you but I love it when an anime truly portrays the weaknesses of the characters. Sure, strength and power development is cool and all but it is the flaw that makes them more…human and relatable in a sense. In every episode, you can see the characters in fear because…that is how things are in a crazy dystopian world. There is no such thing as ‘fearlessness’ here. Even the strongest soldier shows confusion and indecisiveness but that might give out spoilers so I’ll just leave it at that. Overall, I find the characters all beautifully made and well-thought out. And for once, I love how a supporting character is a lot more badass than the main protagonist…
I’m going to group up enjoyment and my overall thought of this anime into one and that is; simply EPIC. The anime does not showcase huge adventures and multiple crises; it’s already IN one huge severe problem. I’m just happy that there is still hope for epic animation in an anime because I’ve been disappointed a lot with many shounen animes. I’m going to give this a 9/10 because I cannot say that this anime is PERFECTION. It is not. But it definitely is a winner in my heart and hopefully yours as well! =D

I'll be honest... I have been in love with this manwha for a year now...BUT! I only downloaded and read the other doujinshis and this one today... I fail.. Yeah.. But I have no regrets! Seeing my beloved Ewon and Mookyul back in action just leaves me giggling in front of my computer even at 2am in the morning... xDDD
What can I say more? Hajin Yoo has yet again mesmerized me with her beautiful art and boys but that is not all! The story captivates me and can either send me laughing and rolling on the floor or make me cry my eyes out. For
...
a sequel, this piece is only two chapters long but the story takes place on Ewon's family problems and his sister appears as well! I'll take my review piece by piece as always...
Story;
Though I always find Korean manwhas and dramas having the same storyline over and over, there is ALWAYS this little atmosphere of Totally Captivated that drives it away from being cliche and stays strong in originality... (maybe because it is a GUYxGUY story.. hehehehe)
But really though, [SPOILER ALERT] the moment Ewon mentions his sister, it alarmed me that something will push his and Mookyul's relationship to the edge once again... Throughout my reading, I just felt the urge to go to next page as quickly as possible.. I can't really describe it well since I don't want to spoil the story but it is very estatic in a way... ^_^
Art;
pfffftttttt!!!!!!!!! if I said it was 'okay', I'd be rolled over by a mammoth by now...(symbolising the fact that that will NEVER happen!) It. Is. BEAUTIFUL.... The guys...Mookyul...Ewon...they remain epic and HAWWTTT!!! So yeah.. No complains.. But the thing is, there are coloured pages and when I read them, I actually felt that I was only half-conscious and the other me was already at the edge of passing to the other world... x'DDD I'm not joking! It really made me stare in awe at the screen just DYING to be in between those guys!!! -shot-
All I'm saying is, it is beautiful... CAPTIVATING to be exact...
Character;
What more can I say? I LOVE Ewon!!! He is a guy... Absolutely. No doubt. But his female touches (like...ranting when Mookyul is running late or rolling and squealing about Mookyul's cuteness) is epic... CUTE to be exact!!!! Even when taking care of his sister, he looked like a mother/wife! I'm not disgusted at all... It just makes me fall for him over and over again... ^_^
Oh and do NOT let me start talking about Mookyul... He is the most epic out of all epic-ness in the ENTIRE universe!!! His possessive attitude and "hey, imma boss" act just SCREAAAAAAMSSSS hawtness... But when he is down to earth and truly becomes the willing and cute lover, I melt... I absolutely melt... He is the superb mafia boss every girl/guy swoons for... So yeah.. I love the main couple to bits!
Enjoyment;
Since it was short, it wasn't as exciting and heart-moving/breaking/thumping/whatever the heck my heart does when I read Totally Captivated. BUT! It is a very good sequel and now, I'll be reading it one more time before bed! (Yes, I enjoyed it very VERY much!)
Overall;
10/10
I cannot give it any lower or I'll suicide. MookyulXEwon FIGHTING!
