I originally decided to pick this up because I was told of an action series in which people literally sucked on a girl's nipple for energy to fight, yet is not a porn. In other words, it was out of sheer curiosity as to whether or not such a thing would lead to catastrophe or not. And surprisingly enough, it didn't.
I'll start by letting you know this over the top fanservice will most likely either drive you away in disgust or keep you glued to the screen while shedding tears of joy. I'm sure some people will just laugh it off or ignore it as
...
well, but it can be pretty polarizing.
Story: 7:/10. The story doesn't really stray from typical shounen plot, but does make use of a few really interesting concepts. For one, it's characters all have powers born of an element from the periodic table (Hydrogen, Mercury, Iron, etc.) and not the usual elements used for this sort of thing (fire, water, earth, etc.) This makes for some rather creative and enjoyable fights throughout the series. Another is it's use of the Christianity in the plot, like a painting of the virgin Mary breastfeeding Jesus containing the power of God. There have certainly been series to do a better job incorporating religion (See: Chrono Crusade), but I'll admit that I surprisingly happy with it considering it was an ero anime.
Art: 8/10. The art for this series is pretty well done, although much of the work clearly goes into breast animation (again, something you either be really happy or really sad about), ass shots. The fighting was rather well done, another surprise for a show of this premise. Overall, I was pleased with the quality.
Sound: 6/10. The "bad shit is happening" track sounded well placed, but everything else was pretty forgettable. This includes both opening and ending themes.
Character: 6/10. Alexander was honestly the only interesting character in the series. With the exception of him, everyone else conformed to some archetype or another almost perfectly. The idea of a of a really short badass who looks like an emo goth sounds ridiculous, but it's honestly the best way to describe him and it worked out rather well. He also has a pretty unique scar carved into the side of his face.
Enjoyment: 8/10. The enjoyment you get from this series all hinges upon how you deal with the fanservice. If you really don't like looking at naked cartoon characters, then this isn't the series for you. If that's your thing, prepare for a full course meal of it.

I'm just gonna get the obvious stuff out of the way first. Ladies versus Butlers is an ecchi harem comedy that does little to break the chain of "we don't need a story as long there are boobies" shows that we see in shows of this genre. Almost all the characters fall perfectly within some set archetype, and don't really see anything in the way of character development. Also, this show has more of these archetypes than I think I've ever seen in one place, as well all the gags you'd expect in this genre.
Despite this, I still enjoyed this series quite a bit ,
...
for two main reasons. The main character, and fact that the non-ecchi related jokes were actually funny.
Story: Didn't really expect anything from the story to begin with, didn't really get anything. The show basically just follows him around as he lives at this school with all these girls. No real plot. He's just sorta there with all these girls, and.... yeah.
Art: The show does look nice, which is definitely a plus. It's not incredibly unique in terms of style, but it's not bad to look at either. It gets the job done for this series just fine. A show based on fanservice should be something fans would want to look at, no?
Sound: Not really anything notable about the sound. The OP was kinda catchy, but that's about it. It wasn't bad, but it never really stuck out during the series.
Character: The show has more character archetypes crammed into it than I've ever seen in any place before, and nobody really develops beyond these roles. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Akuharu. While he's no brilliant character himself, I'd definitely choose him over most of the other male leads you see in ecchi harem. Him not being a spineless loser without any backbone or opinion of any kind was nice change from the usual, and his appearance (red eyes, scar on his eyebrow, and not small/wimpy) felt like someone actually gave it a bit of thought rather than just taking the concept art from another ecchi harem and doing just enough edits to make him not a blatant clone. For the first time, I actually CARED about the male lead. While there's still lots of work to be done in terms of characters, L x B was at least a step in the right direction.
Enjoyment: While there was more than enough fanservice for those who came here looking for it, the show was quite amusing with its more worksafe bits humor(the principal and ninja maid in particular). It was enough to keep me watching the entire way through, although I really would have liked to see more of it in place of the "I tripped and grabbed a boob" gag or the ever present "Some random situation has forced us into a sexually awkward position" bit.
Overall: Ladies versus Butlers is by no means a greatanime, but it definitely preferrable to most of the shows in this genre. Akuharu hinted at something in the way of effort in his design, the art looks very nice, and there's enough not fanservice related humor to actually, well , make someone not as into that as others find some enjoyment out of this, however small that may be.

Tenjou Tenge is yet another example of why you don't make anime based on a not-even-close-to-complete manga. The problems with series stem from the fact that it abruptly ends at the conclusion of the first arc of the manga, which is about the 8th volume. The manga is on it's 21st volume and is still going.
This leads to issues such as half the series being a big flashback (there's a big flashback to explain everything that's going on in the the present, and the anime literally ends RIGHT after the story returns to the present), characters seeming to be bland and one dimensional because
...
the anime ends before the story gets around to developing them(Bob and Masakata from what I've heard), and the series just ending with a crapton of unanswered questions because Oh! Great didn't right Tenjou Tenge in a way that you can just stop where the anime did.
Story: The story isn't super unique, and suffers from an abrupt ending long before the heart of the plot really gets a chance to get going.
Art: The fight scenes were entertaining and rather creative in that you couldn't just throw in two random characters and have the fight end up looking largely the same. Characters felt like they had unique skills and attributes that made combat interesting.
Character: There aren't any terribly locked in archetypes for any characters, and many do see growth and development. Sadly, this is again limited by the show ending at the first arc.
Enjoyment: The most entertainment comes from the fight scenes. Rather creative group of abilities amongst the cast, main characters can never just hammer their to victory, but need to outskill them. That, and the show can be a tad funny at times.
Overall: Don't get me, I'm not saying Tenjou Tenge is bad. I know that this isn't the first anime to be made of an incomplete manga, and it won't be the last. It's just that most anime either stop at a point where some sort of resolution has been reached for what is currently going on, or make some up of their own. Tenjou Tenge just stops one day, and... that's it. It starts interesting, got me all interested and stuff, then just up and leaves. It's a difficult anime to enjoy because of the lack of closure (or arguably even beginning).
