This is my first manga review so go easy on me.
I read until chapter 250 and there might be more chapters after this but for me the manga ended here.
I read the first 100 to 150 chapters with great enthusiasm like literally from chapter 0 to 120 in two days. The story was something new and had a spark that made me read more and more. If I had to just review those 150 chapters I would have given it a solid 8 but the problem starts after those 150 chapters, I hated it. Like I did not want to read it anymore I
...
just wanted to know the outcome so I literally skimmed through the rest of the chapters.
Why? What happened?
Well short answer, the writer fucked up big time.
How did the writer fuck up so bad?
The writing felt like the writer just wanted to stretch the story rather than incorporating new story or interesting developments. She brought in useless characters that had no part in the plot development or the main character(s) development. Like after the 150 chapter the outcome was set and predictable but I was still going through it just to see how accurate my prediction was, not to read and enjoy the plot(yes it was that predictable).
The gist of the story was this guy who has to choose one of the two "heroines" as his partner and he obviously picked Mrs. Obvious. Not that it's a problem that he picked Mrs. Obvious but rather the writer wrote the story in such a way with linear progression with occasional hindrances(like Indian soap opera) that one can figure out who Ms. Obvious is within the first 150 chapters. Well if you haven't figured out by those chapters than I guess it's just me and my friends.
The characters are so cringey, plain and annoying that I often felt like droping the manga immediately after reading some chapters. Well one might say that well you stuck around 250 chapters till you dropped it. Honestly, I stuck around to prove myself that either my prediction was of a genius or as plain as yogurt.
The only thing I really liked was the art, Sasuga Kei can draw really nice! I am a designer myself and those are some good quality art, with emotions of characters drawn to perfection and tiny details of action that really speaks.
I really tried not to hate it but I felt the writer could have ended it way earlier and make a better story but she just dragged it on and on and on without bringing something new that makes the plot or characters grow. Making a characters suffer doesn't necessarily mean they are gonna grow and make the character or story better. The choices and actions they choose is more important and the choices and actions couldn't be more generic.
I really want to say something good about the story other than the art but honestly after reaching this point and looking back it just feels like a lot of time wasted.
If you are into predictable, generic and unnecessary romance then this is definitely for you. One might like it and that is totally okay but for me "this is not it Chief!"
