I have to give Akasaka props for how blatantly he destroyed a great manga and spat in the face of his fans. That was amazing in its own right. Admittedly my ire is because I so loved the first 150 or chapters and my anticipation level for its ending and plot finality was through the roof. I am a seasoned enough reader where “sad” yet meaningful endings still hold tremendous value and I anticipated that it might not be a fully joyous ending from the first few chapters. So that in itself was not the issue. My main issue, and what I dislike the most,
...
is a purposefully malicious bad endings that are only meant to draw a reaction so that the writer can smirk internally at the fools who read their work. That what this manga ending felt like to me and I did not appreciate at all. In fact I will go as far as to say that I will never read another one of Akasakas work again, I cannot trust him with my time and emotional investment to enjoy another one his works again. Which makes me very sad.
The last 10-15 chapters destroyed what started out as an amazing manga that had a very unique and interesting premise. During those chapters all the threads that were being weaved into what we thought will be a beautiful tapestry, remained loose. All the unexplained aspects, which we thought we were going to understand by the end, remained unexplained. All the characters we fell in love and invested into learning about their backgrounds got discarded, their storyline left unfinished, never tied to main story or served any meaningful purpose. I was left with “why, what was the point” as my final feeling for this once beautiful manga. The beautiful tapestry that we’re looking forward to cherishing turned into a rag that I would quickly like to discard. If this is something you (for some odd reason) enjoy then by all means, read it. Perhaps I lack the emotional maturity to find a silver lining or a “lesson” from the ending (if one exists), but quite frankly, I don’t need to nor do I care to at this point.
To summarize: it was unfulfilling, unsatisfying and pointless to read this manga. Yes, the start of the ride was nice, but the ending fiery crash makes it not worth it.
(If an Anime executive is reading this (probably not), change the ending storyline of the Anime, anything is better than the manga.)

Overall: Other reviews comparing this to Redo of Healer is actually a huge injustice to ROH. So far, what I can say for this show is that there is significant amount of inexplicable and overly unnecessary violence and very little plot justification for it. While the episodes end in silly cliffhangers, what I feel isn't anticipation for the next episode, but distaste knowing that the next episode will begin with something equally nonsensical. The show was quite promising in the beginning, (I actually enjoyed the first one or two episodes) but it quickly deteriorated into an irredeemable mess. If you like random violence, and to
...
mutter "why" to yourself over and over while watching then this show is perfect for you.
Story (I'll avoid spoilers): It is a story of "vengeance" on all sides. Everyone wants to avenge someone for something or other. It can be quite exhausting to follow. The male main character is psychotic without any redeemable qualities. This itself makes the show very difficult for me to watch. The main female lead is the opposite, she does not complement the ML or the storyline. It is as if she is from an entirely different universe. Her personality is so incredibly at odds with her surroundings and environment that a psychologist from that world would diagnose her with some personality disorder or a version of PTSD.
Putting the horrible characters aside, what is even worse is the storyline. The premise is very interesting but the executions is horrendous. The main character is so erratic in his decision making that it makes it hard to follow the purpose of his actions. Things are never explained properly, there is no history behind actions, personality traits, or behavior. While they might give glimpses of the past, there is very little specific connection to the current story. Or when there are connections, they are never fully explained or clarified. You end every episode with a slew of unanswered questions in your head. The "Science" of this world is beyond amazing, it seems to be purposefully made for plot device purposes only. Do you need to teleport to a distant planet, then we got the device for you. Or how about shutting off magic, well there is a device for that. It would have been interesting to see if the "magic" had any scientific reasoning or if the "science" had any magical origins. But alas, that is too deep of a thought process for this show.
The art is meh, normal by todays horrible animations standards, (some exceptions of course). Voiceovers are... well always screaming. How the characters are portrayed is almost comical, you feel nothing for them, dying or otherwise. I laughed when a certain character was talking while split in half... almost two episodes prior.
While I hated this show, some people like that sort of thing, if you're into story-less and poorly written (sometimes funny) violence then go for it.
Final note: Redo of Healer at least had a plot and it was enjoyable to watch. Stop the hate!

(This is based on the first 41 chapters)
This is my first ever review on MAL, and there is a really good reason for that. Reason being that this one hits very close to home. Memories of someone taller than me with dischoveleved hair and nasty demeanor ominously staring at me while laying on her desk flooded back into my head as I read this manga. That girl too was misunderstood and treated with hostility by everyone, was insulted and called names and was attached to some false rumor or another on a weekly basis. But I knew better (except the one where
...
she stole her mom's minivan, that was true!) and it resulted in some of the fondest memories of my life.
Now regarding this manga, First thing I have to say is that you might find the art style to be lacking, but be patient with it. It does improve. I personally loved it. I felt it had more art in it and you can see the brilliance of the artists through what it seems like rough sketches. But those rough sketches relayed an abundance of emotion, more so than most manga art.
The Story (you might want to skip reading this but I'll avoid spoiling anything)
is a typical romcom, boy and a girl and obviously there is some interest between them. The boy, being a typical highschool boy, doesn't seem to be lacking in anything, there is nothing special about him. The girl on the other hand initially comes off as a rough delinquent, hostile and meanancing but you later find out that she is actually quite a sweetheart and a genuinely kind person. Of course, there is drama in the mix and the drama is generally centered around how misunderstood she is. I did genuinely feel sorry for her.
Character design isn't great, there are only really 4 or so characters that the storyteller focused on and we know very little about them. There is almost no background for any of them. I'm hoping that changes as I read more chapters.
Enjoyment, I laughed out loud and really hard at various scenes, some of it reminiscent of Komi-San but with a little more action in the comedy. The panels are short and the comedy hits you quick. I quite enjoyed it.
Overall I loved it, but I'm strange and I like strange things, this might not be for everyone but for me it was also a very nostalgic feel. Bottom line, its a quick read, might as well try it out. You might like it after all.
