I consider Samurai Champloo to be one of the great anime classics, but it is also a show that is really good for introducing newcomers to the medium. It has incredible action scenes, great characters, and the storyline is powerful enough to rouse genuine emotions. Moreover, it has a solid and satisfying ending, which is often hard to come by in the world of anime.
I cannot recommend this show enough.
The core of Samurai Champloo revolves around its' three main characters. Fuu, Mugen, and Jin couldn't be more different from each other, creating a dynamic and entertaining group that will carry you through the story. The

voice acting and behavior of these characters is dynamic and natural and it is easy for members of the audience to identify with one or more of these three. Often, these three personalities bounce off of each other, leading to regularly instances of entertaining comedy and gripping conflict.
One of the strengths of Samurai Champloo is it's action scenes. The swordfights are dynamic and each one is unique. The tension in these conflicts feel real, and the audience is often left anticipating the next big fight, and the pay offs are always satisfying. The animation of this show, which is approaching 20 years of age, is somewhat dated by today's standards, but the animation holds up well, and it is hard not to appreciate the unique style of the studio, both musically and artistically.
Perhaps Samurai Champloo's biggest strength is the intensity of the show through each episode. The show is episodic, and most episodes are stand-alone stories. However, unlike many shows that I have watched, it does not loose steam halfway through the show. The beginning of the anime starts off strong, and the sense of discovery, conflict, and character development that you feel during the first episodes remains high throughout the middle and end of the show. By the end of the show, the vast majority of viewers will walk away feeling that Samurai Champloo was a satisfying and unique experience that was absolutely worth their time.
