I wish we can +1 to other recommendations. Anyway, I wanted to support the guy who said Fujita=Ippo Hyodo=Miyata Sengoku=Takamura When I heard sengoku talking I thought he had the same seiyuu as takamura for a few second. I didn't check, but the tone and personality that they have towards their "students" is really similar. Hyodo and miyata is a bit different, but explaining why would be a spoiler. I really did not expect myself to like Ballroom but it's really a good sports anime just like hajime no ippo. Can we talk about episode 1? (its in the synopsis anyway), but both mcs were saved from bullies and then introduced to their sport. Did the author watch hajime no ippo then write ballroom??

Very similar art, and both are sports anime. Both sports attract more of the female audience than male audience. Difference: MC in ballroom actually grows throughout the season , while the MC in haikyuu remains childish to the very end. (you can tell by how they argue with their partner, the latter's "fights" being meaningless, repetitive, and more for a comedic effect than for development) Ballroom is more for the more matured audience. Despite ballroom dancing being a sport where you can be very close to the women, there is significantly less sexualization than in haikyuu. (in haikyuu we will often see the males literally telling the girl "ill hold your bag", "your beautiful", etc the mc males are always trying to gain her favor and lusting for her) in ballroom, even when dancing with someone not your main partner, they are still really mature about it (except gaju, ok)
