The only remote skepticism I had regarding this show was related to Mappa Studios being in-charge of producing this show. However, that being said this anime hit a home-run on every aspect an anime should.
Story:
The story which is the main jewel of this crown is something I really want to get to know more! The way the story progresses in these 12 episodes is truly a joy to watch, I cannot even point out at one episode that was remotely trying to stretch the runtime of this show. Each and every second of it was well paced and delivered...in the end leaving you craving for
...
more! I personally enjoyed the plot that has been covered and I am definitely excited for the next season!
Characterisation:
I feel like all the characters have an interesting background story to them, with compelling reasons why they are doing what they are. To some Denji's reason for fighting to preserve his newly adopted lifestyle might come across as a shallow reason to most, but extreme poverty can make an individual cherish the smallest of things. And in my opinion that has been covered and expressed perfectly in this anime. Aki's & Power's backrgound also make a lot of sense, with Makima's mysterious character that I really want to know more about. However, for me it is the introduction of Himeno who albeit is a support character left a colossal void in my chest when she dies trying to protect the person she loves. The sour aftertaste of episode 8 was something I found it difficult to overcome but the ending of the season at least is able to recover it. For me this anime is the perfect example of how simple plots and background stories of characters if narrated well can leave a deep impact. You do not need a lot of episodes or some crazy-ass storytelling to create such an emotional attachment to the characters of this show. This lowkey reminded me of how well the cyberpunk anime did in storytelling and emotionally attaching you to the characters!
Animation:
Perhaps the most controversial of topics regarding this anime, even though I would have preferred a full cgi-free show but after 2-3 episodes the the depth of the animation in the realism started clicking for me. I don't know if any studio will ever recreate the animations level of Wit Studio from the first season of Shingeki no Kyojin but I will say that in Chainsaw Man's setup the visuals are beautiful, the colours though seem to have a monochromatic palette does add a lot of depth into the show.
Soundtrack:
The anime does a phenomenal job with the soundtracks. The opening and the different ending osts of the show were amazing, but the soundtracks during fights, storytelling and emotional moments is spot on! It does add an extra layer of emotion to this already grim setup and hits you hard with a wave of feelings which are hard to overcome till the end.
All in all I enjoyed the anime thoroughly and despite the criticism surrounding the show, in my opinion this is show has to be the pinnacle of what good storytelling coupled with spot on characterisation can do to a show. I think most people watching shounen shows are getting use to the fact where the protagonist and his/her companions against all odds somehow manage to overcome obstacles miraculously with everyone unscathed. I think we need to grow up a little an accept that grim and dark setups will involve a lot of casualties of characters we might hold very close to ourselves. A must watch and indeed a masterpiece! What a way to end 2022 on!!!

Okay, first of all I need to address the negative reviews regarding this ONA. I get it that the amount of violence they have shown coupled with the bullying is a lil excessive, but we need to understand that it is a harsh reality in the world we live in. Generally speaking, even if you do meet a stranger you do draw some conclusions about his/her personality based on their appearance so stop being hypocritical. Don't let these hypocritical reviews cloud your judgement, and go give this ONA a try.
Now coming back to the anime review:
The ONA shows us the bullying and excessive abuse the
...
protagonist Park faces at his school. After his mom sees the bullying her son faces at school, she decides to send him to a different school despite their poor financial conditions. Park determined to start life anew, ends up facing similar problems of domestic violence and bullying publicly where his new school is. Sick of his life he one day wakes up in the body of literally the perfect guy. Good looking, physically muscular, tall and the literal image of perfection.
So now you have this kid who has seen nothing but bullying, getting all the attention and he tries to use his looks to help out other kids who are being bullied in his school. Skipping forward the middle part where a bunch of things happen he meets Duk-Hwa who is aspiring to become a rapper. Duk-Hwa is being constantly bullied, one day after being beaten hears someone singing in a very melodic voice. Unknowingly, he follows the voice and sees Park standing in the class singing. I feel like this part is where the story gets powerful because Duk-Hwa shows Park in my opinion that you need to own up to who you are and chase your dreams. Despite all the bullying Duk-Hwa faces, he is still writing rap songs, and I feel like the show does a good job of telling that instead of waiting for someone to help you, you need to help yourself by standing up to the bullying or else people are always going to look down at you.
Anyways the show is good:
- Story: 8
- Characters: 9
- Animation: 9
- Song: A BIG 10!! Fly Up! Concert Version is so good!!!

I am not a big review guy but man this show had it all from action packed gore, to hopeful moments, romance and heartbreaking scenarios. Before diving into details I will say go watch the show, its a must watch as long as you can digest exploding heads, falling intestines and 24/7 random people jerking off on the streets.
The characters were well introduced and the story progression per episode is good. Every episode feels like rollercoaster of emotions with a grim dystopian setup cyberpunk is known for. I feel like the interaction between the characters is well done, and by the end of the show
...
you do feel a connection with each one of them besides David & Lucy. For me particularly the most surprising part was the time leap they took in episode 7. A show with 10 episodes and limited time to cover, handles this time transition quite well and you dont feel like the plot is disjointed. So character development and story progression is pretty strong.
I also adored the romance between David & Lucy, they are like the perfect duo in the grim setup. The biggest bummer for me was how David evolves and wants to follow Maine's footsteps even if it means death... like this is perhaps the only weakness in the story since I understand he looked up to him, however, I feel like the strong connection and love between him and Lucy should have made him think twice before going all suicidal. Also another complain was the overly gruesome way they killed off all the supporting characters... even the way they kill off David was a bit excessive... I mean if you are going to make the audience love the characters so much I feel its a bit harsh to show their deaths so explicitly, specially Rebecca's death hit me hard.
Anyways that being said the visuals, animations, fight scenes, music (night city radio), gore, romance and story makes me want to see more about Night City's life in such TV series. I know it probably wont happen but would be nice if they make a follow up season to this.... cause somewhere in my heart I have not given up on David xD....Give it a watch and you will certainly not regret it!

READ ALL YOU WANT BUT I WOULD SERIOUSLY URGE YOU TO GIVE THIS ANIME A TRY AND STOP LISTENING TO WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY!!
Sports anime have been doing well, with a number of great basketball, football, baseball and volleyball animes we finally dive down into an entirely different realm, which is the world of Sumo. Honestly, I never liked the sport in real and whenever sumo came to my mind I would think a bunch of sweaty overweight dudes slamming their chubbiness against each other. But boy o boy! This anime maintains the respect of the sport and shows it from the perspective of
...
Ushio, who is only 152cm but his desire to win, passion for the sport and support of his teammates makes him achieve the impossible.
x-----------------Spoilers---------------x
- Story: Great story overall. There is a lot of background story telling also which in my opinion is done very well. I would encourage anime producers to please always rethink before splashing forward a 12 episode season. Since in my personal experience it never lets me synch or helps me in understanding all the characters. The moment i saw 24 episodes I was sure the story will have to be great and to my surprise it exceeded my expectations. The best part was that even though obviously the story has to revolve around the protagonist, the story telling of all the other characters has been done phenomenally.
-Characterization: Perhaps the most important part of the anime are the characters. The Daichi Sumo club and its members have been well characterized each having a strong background story which strengthened their individual character building throughout the plot. How Yuma who when sees the light to redemption seeks his path of making up to Ozeki and the sumo club for the lost years. Kirihito with his knack for analyzing his opponents and despite having a physical limitation, the way he overcomes it in the last few episode in order to compete in the final and wins it so convincingly is amazing. How, Chihiro the all out genius makes his way through fame and finally competes against his brother in the finals. How Ozeki and his love for the sport makes him realize his goal. How Kei evolves from being a weak individual to someone with a strong will and spirit. Last but not the least Ushio! His characterization is everything I love to see in a protagonist. Strong, fierce, passionate and compassionate makes the perfect recipe for the ultimate protagonist who despite being short in the end beats the Kuze the son of a Yokozuna and makes it to becoming pro. The bond between all these characters and the support characters in terms of their managers and rival teammates makes this anime a seriously hidden gem in the realm of animes.

Okay I usually dislike reviewing animes, but Kanata no Astra is a special case. If you want a change of pace, story driven, filled with continuous plot twists and some light humor this anime is a great anime! Loved the art, the story, the characters for me personally had a great background story rare to see an anime with only 12 episodes achieve such in-depths to the stories of so many individual characters.
I would only suggest and recommend to stop reading to reviews and give the anime a try!! You will seriously enjoy it.
A RARE JEWEL OF 2019!!!

Okay so the first few lines will be a quick and short assessment of the anime for those who want to watch this abomination:
The anime is decent, and the plot is good with some unexpected twists...However, by the time you end the anime you will probably hate the MC very much and his love Eba Yuzuki even more....
P.S. The ending is actually bad imo....
Okay so now for a detail review: (Possible Spoiler Alert from here on)
-Story Analysis: The overall plot is done well since in some of the parts you will expect the expected but something completely unexpected will happen.... for example it never
...
took me long to predict that Kyousuke's gf would be Eba... that was so easy to predict, however, Kyousuke's death was something I did not expect.
The overall plot building is nice, but the MC makes a ton of weird decisions which dont seem natural at all. Yes love is confusing and getting over your Ex-gf is hard and can be a cumbersome feeling.... However, Haruto will piss you off and many places you would be left thinking what "d**k" of a person.... like how the hell does a guy like him have girls falling for him.... seriously turns annoying by the time you reach the last 3-4 episodes in this series.....
Sound: Well nothing to talk about here its okay but nothing amazing
Characters: Done well in my honest opinion, however, at some places it will remind you that you are watching an anime from Perhaps the 80's even though this anime has been released in 2013 lol.
Enjoyment: None tbh... since the way Haruto ends his relationship on a whim with Asuka without even giving jack s**t ...... Like after all his screwups.... the thing that pissed me off the most is the way he breaks-up with Asuka... I swear if I was in that world I would shoot Haruto and marry Asuka.... \(-_-)/
Overall: An anime with great potential and a possibly a great plot which will only make you want to watch the next episode just so you can believe that everything will be alright in the next episode, until you realize you are out of episodes to watch and things instead of getting better will only get worse....
Not a recommended anime..... however, if you have nothing to watch and are in for some drama you can surely waste time watching this....

Well most of the reviews written are so long and literally are getting in to way too many details. I do not write reviews usually but this movie deserves one and I will just make it a short one.
First of all, for those who haven't watched it, stop reading the d**m reviews and go watch the movie. A good or bad review will only create an unnecessary perception about this movie. Watch it yourself and then decide if its good or not.
As for my opinion, well like kimi no na wa (anime movie) and Clannad (anime series), I think this movie does a great
...
job of making a strong connection between Ishida (the protagonist) and the audience.
*-------Spoiler Alert--------*
It shows the transition of a 6th grader from being a bully and cool kid of the class to a high-schooler who is trying to find his bearings back in life. Watching an anime and wondering how easy or hard that is for a kid to do is something this anime does a great job of coming across. That transition is very difficult in real life and that is well depicted in this movie till the end, until the time he lifts his head up and decides to listen to the voices surrounding him.
As for those who are like talking about "Oh this movie does not do a good job about understanding the mind of a deaf individual" etc.... well I suggest to all those reviewers to go back and watch the movie again. The movie is mostly about how Ishida is trying to find his way back in to convincing himself that he is worth it, and that afterall he did to Shouko he too can have a happy life if he makes up for it. For me this movie is more about an individual who is trying to find his way back towards living rather than giving up on life as a whole.

Writing a long review as many others have already done would be of no use.
If you are someone who is reading this review, and have not seen this anime let me tell you this that you are missing out on something that words can't elaborate with ease..... it's one of those few animes which has to be seen and can't be alone explained through mere words.... The best thing about this anime that the way the plot has builds, it can be also seen as your first anime if you are new to the whole anime thing :).
A must watch anime!
