I dislike Ueki's character 'development' - From a chillax kind of guy with wide relaxed eyes into high-energy shounen protag that keeps screaming and has tiny 'fighting' eyes.
The rest of the characters, and enemies, are quite stereotypical (and so is their development) but usually fun.
The power system is fun (Fulfil condition X in order to activate your power), and similar to Jojo or HXH and so on, but feels broken towards the end (Suddenly, many enemies don't have a condition to meet and they can just spam their powers)
The fighting is usually great and filled with strategy and trying to understand your opponent's powers

Absolutely hilarious.
I accidentally came across the show hearing it's like an abridged series in full episodes, so I tried it out. Currently I'm on the fourth episode, and I don't plan on stopping soon. This stupid, hilariously bad show turned even stupider, worse, and hella lot funny with the English dub's help. The voice actors offend everyone and everything they can, the jokes are crude and hilarious, the characters are DRASTICALLY changed and actually have a personality and uniqueness of sort while staying true to the original Japanese dub which sucked ass. The story is shit, the art is shit, the sound is shit, the characters are shit ...

Absolutely amazing. What can I say that hasn't been said?
Whoever is reading this review and saying to himself "Eh, should I read Berserk? I'm not really into medieval stuff..." Should square up and read it. It's one of the most amazing experiences modern literature can provide. Not only the art is consistently fantastic 99% of the time, the characters are well written. Fantastically written. The writing isn't bound to 'good vs evil' themes, but actually to humans and humans actions. The story isn't much of a "bigger picture" kind of story, but of making our characters the bigger picture. There is so much, TOO much, to talk ... |
