Man, what a journey! I remember the day i wanted to started this manga thinking "yeah, it has a nice score on MAL, it should be a good manga for sure" ... and holy cow i'd have never expected it to be so good, more like SO UNIQUE, its sense of humour, the typical "serious attitude" of other good historical works but with that original style that makes you think "this story is one of kind", honestly, this is really a good manga. You start reading it and after 2 min you are like "oh so it gives you notions about cooking as well, nice"
...
and then "oh so it's also uniquely funny from time to time" and then again "oh it even shows you how a specific enthnic group of people (and yeah you even discover differences inside each group of them coming from different areas) live their lives and how they see the same world you live in" and it goes over and over like this, cause this work is full of notions about anything and in most of the cases it's even too specific, so full respect to the author for the researches he made to create this Masterpiece.
I, in fact, enjoyed the hunting, the thought process of the animals during their own hunt and the way of escape from hunters or other predators, the art of war (it has an immense study behind it, it was insane all the way), the difference of the awareness of both the russians and japanese towards the war, how the latter ended winnin the war, the references to movies and other works, i'd talk for hours mentioning all the things i learned by readin this manga and how it has become at the end my favourite of all time.
So yeah, this was Golden Kamuy for me, you really enjoy and feel the same emotions i felt readin it!

Is this a masterpiece? No but probably a hidden gem.
I think it got everything that someone can ask for:
1) Mistery
2) intrigues
3) Comedy
4) it is set in a particoular era of the history of China and you can learn some "behind the scenes" of living in this Kingdom or Royal court
6) lots of elements related to the "art" of being an herbalist and so the old tecnique in medical field
7) last but not least it has even a Shoujo like story (Between Mao mao and Jinshi sama) so even if it's a Seinen target manga it can be appreciated by lots of fans of other genres.
In
...
the end you have a different story (it comes from a light novel), for sure not one you expect to find many times so yeah, i'll definitely recommend it, give it a try, it's been interesting almost since the very start for me.

First of all, i really didn't know what to expect at first by reading the title of this work, so i started reading the 1st chapter and i was like "well, another slice of life Asano style i guess" so i preferred reading other things, i put it on "On-hold". I tried once again thinking "i guess i was just not in the mood to start reading this kind of work, cause you can just expect a really good work by someone who created Oyasumi Punpun" (man, i loved that story), so i read the 2nd chapter and again, i didn't know what to
...
say or what to think. I put it on "On-hold" again, i think for like 2 or 3 weeks.
And then it came the 3rd attempt but this time i reread it from the start and i don't know what happened, i don't know if it was the art style or curiosity but i wanted to know more and more about the story of those 2 girls, i stopped for 5 to 10 secs on that panel that shows you the giant mothership covering the sky and i thought "ofc it's going to be a BIG story".
Just want to say that i started thinking it was another slice of life but in the end i found everything ... like yeah, really everything: friendship, fears and sadness, politics, science, technology, comedy. Just thinkin' about that the side story of Isobeyan became part of the story itself makes you realize at which level Inio Asano can bring a slice of life and then you start wondering things like "what would i do if i was in their shoes?" With this story Inio Asano makes you consider more about the little things of life and that people can assume that life will always keep going. The story reaches its peak when an invader tells to the main characters "when humans start mentioning justice ofc it won't bring to good things cause each one of us has his idea of justice", i have to admit it, i stopped thinking about anything for a bit, it was such an important way of thinking about the real nature of human being. And what about the last chapters ... how everything will end? really didn't expect the story to get to this point, each panel of this last part of the story is breathtaking and mindblowing, definitely Asano art style at its peak.
I'd stay hours talkin' about this work so i prefer telling you, 100% i'd recommend this work, never expected to read a slice of life and get to this point where it totally changed everything in it making you think about every aspect of life and humans as human being in this world.

I can sum up everything by saying that the most important thing of a journey is not the destination but the experiences you make during this one: you laugh, you cry and you learn everything about friendship and being in a group with some people that at the beginning are just some randoms but then they become the most important thing in your life!
Tokyo Revengers is one those cases that show you that even with a simple story you can have a ton of fun. What a ride and how many plot twist, i think i've never seen so many in a story. Really enjoyed
...
everything about this story!
Of course it might not be a masterpiece but you'll have fun 100% reading it. So yeah, i recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a fun and at the same time a really emotional story.

What to say about this manga ... what a start of a story!
It literally started like it was a fancy and "happy" story like some other typical of the genre but then you have this dark, to not say creepy, development right from the start! I don't know where it is going but let me tell you, this is for sure a hidden gem. Not only you can see some BTS of all the jobs shown in the opera and the hard times of being an actor, a mangaka and, above all, an idol etc. but the author (yeah is the same author who
...
wrote Kaguya-sama) shows you even their point of view, i mean you can see how each one of them think about things doing their job and make it at best, showing dreams but also fears and concerns of all of them, cause some people may think for example that being an idol is one of the best things in the world but then there's the dark side of being one in a million on a stage ... you'll get what i'm trying to say when you'll read it.
Really a unique plot.
Can't wait to read the rest of the story! Totally recommended!
