Went into it with high expectations because it's one of the top rated anime of its season. Seeing the image and the synopsis gave me the sense that it'd give some meaningful wisdom/values - the type like from Uncle Iroh, AnKyou, Inuyashiki or Sakurasou. However questions quickly filled my head even throughout the first episode...
- How does it make sense that Legosi suddenly loses his mind over the scent of ONE rabbit one night? He smells rabbits every other night at school since it seems all students live in dormitories? This is a seriously deep plot-hole since it triggers the rest of the series of

events
- What kind of society, fictional or not, would be possible when a HOMICIDE at a junior/senior high school occurs without the school shutting down?
- Why are the students accepting it like 「ああそうですかしょうがないね! きをつけよう~」?
- This societal setting must have overcome fierce conflict and interspecies social reform to allow carnivores and herbivores to live together, so it'd be satisfying to see a system or explanation for how carnivores can ignore their instincts
- Is Haru supposed to be a mature or not? Admired her stoicism and level-headedness in responding to bullying, then disappointed at her unnecessary ad hominem jab at the Harlequin (bully) rabbit's boyfriend --> "seeing how he got that excited from a little peck, he's not all that great"
- Haru's monologue tells that she's often treated as "a weak animal always needing protection/dependence", and "has been prey to (aka. being used by) everyone" her whole life. Her thoughts were emotionally building intensity in me, and momentarily I thought "ah she's finally sick of that, she'll finally learn to stand her ground and learn to be strong by herself!". I was excited about her resolve, then..... "Not that I care, really"
BRUH what do you mean?? You should care, you've been suffering and disrespecting yourself this whole time! Aren't you sick of it?
- Upon seeing Louis' grandiose condescending behaviour toward the goat --> "Did you eat up the script? Eating paper is all you goats are good for, isn't it? I'd rather you spare us that particular talent". I was confused how he maintained his reputation in the school. Wouldn't all the characters he bullied hate him and eventually spread warnings?
- Louis nonchalantly dismisses and demotes Kai (wolverine?) from the actor team to the backstage team without discussion with Kai, or the director for that matter, and proceeds to belittle Kai's achievements as "stage flubs" despite being on the team for 2 years. Such a repugnant display of the apparent charisma/courage/righteousness that the show wants us to see Louis in.
- Although Kai's sudden eruption of violent rage on Louis is unwarranted, he's a carnivore, and the show wants to show that they submit to their primal instincts sometimes. My confusion is, why does Legosi, shown to be kind and empathetic, turn a blind eye to Louis' blatant abuse of authority towards Kai?
- What kind of school allows students to carry sharp weapons to school? (female alpaca at 6 mins eps 1) Granted it's for protection against carnivores, I wonder why their society hasn't implemented a public safety system though?
Several minor confusions:
Did a squirrel holding a jar of walnuts really only appear ONCE to show that Legosi often helps her crack her walnuts, yet Legosi doesn't interact with any squirrels throughout the series?
How is Legosi glancing at Louis while he's kneeling to grieve Tem's passing, considered "poor-mannered" while Louis speaks condescendingly/commandingly/rudely to everyone (including teachers) in the series? What a hypocrite..
TLDR: Most of the positive reviewers don't seem to be thinking about the absolute lack of logic in this anime. Main characters are outstandingly basic (Haru), blind/naive (Legosi), and fake/blindly enraged (Louis) with no significant emotional or mental growth. And this is just the 1st eps...
