This is probably one of the strangest manga's I've read in the while, if not the strangest.
With only there being 2 chapters out right now, Drama Queen is (currently) unratable for me, because of the extreme racial implications. It just seems like a dog whistle for hating foreigners. The premise is simple, but also complex. It's basically about Aliens that saved earth from a planet ending meteor, and they have integrated themselves into society, and the main character hates them. She works at a lousy job that is run by an alien, and they always hit her without them knowing (or apologizing) The boss hits
...
our other main character, but he actually stands up to him and complains about the terrible work environment. The main character gets fired after unintentionally killing her boss (I believe). She is later sulking in bed about getting fired, when she gets a call from the male main character asking her to let him in. When she opens the door she sees him holding a dead alien over his shoulder. They don't know what to do with the body, until the female main character gets an idea when her stomach growls, and then she eats the body. That is literally the first chapter of this series. Anyways, lets just get to the positives.
POSITIVES:
THE ART: The art style is genuinely insane, it looks extremely high quality and beautiful.
ITS UNIQUNESS: This is probably the most strange and unique manga of recent times, and I am actually interested in reading.
NEGATIVES:
THE PREMISE: The premise is literally about them targeting minorities and eating them. Literally.
MY THOUGHTS: I either think that this is going to be the next big thing, or fade away after its newfound popularity dies out. It's quite literally a dog whistle for hating minorities. I don't really know if I should like this for its content, or hate it for its message. I am currently ambivalent on the series right now, but maybe in a few years I'll look back to this review and say "How did I not see the greatness of this series based off the first few chapters!?!" or "How did I not see how shitty it was based off the first few chapters!?!" I don't really know how I stand with it right now, nor do I know how I will in the future, only time will tell. I said that this was currently unratable, but I have to rate it so I am currently giving it a five.

Well, what else can I say besides, an end of an era. Gege had a massive run, and had the anime and manga community for a chokehold these past 2 years, this manga will go down as one of the most iconic ever. But it is not without it's flaws, because they are major.
Ill add a tldr, but I would recommend reading my entire review for people who want to read/watch this series, and want to know what its like. There will also be spoilers in this review past s2, but I will add a warning before so.
Tldr: Jjk is a prime example of an
...
author giving up on his work, and that is very apparent in the later half of his series. I personally recommend reading it all, but just know that it takes a nose dive post Shibuya, and I wouldn't get such high hope so you wont be as dissapointed.
Jujutsu Kaisen had one of the greatest runs in all of anime history in mid 2023-early 2024, the only other animes that I can think of off the top of my head that did better is 2021 AOT or possibly 2022 Bleach. Now with all of that out of the way, lets begin the actual review.
Jujutsu Kaisen started off as what many would consider a standard battle shounen, but all of that changed when a certain chapter came out: chapter 79. Chapter 79 would start off one of the greatest shounen arcs, the Shibuya Incident. This is where shit hits the fan, to say the least. Now the Shibuya incident was a great arc, after that was where the cracks started showing in Jujutsu Kaisen.
*(SPOILER WARNING FOR THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH)* The next major arc in Jjk is the Culling games, and man, was this arc a disappointment. I was hyped about it because I thought it would be an arc that could live up to Shibuya, but it didn't. When it comes to the fights, it had 2 great fights, and the rest we're mediocre in comparison, while Shibuya had multiple amazing fights. When it comes to the story, it's not even close. Shibuya not only had great fights, it also progressed the story a lot. Culling games was just action great fights, and they all lacked emotion because the fights had no set up. And it felt like in the end, it felt like none of the fights mattered anyways. So basically, what I am saying is that the culling games was a poor follow up to Shibuya because it didn't progress the plot, it didn't have any direction, and it had almost no emotion
*(SPOILER WARNING FOR THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH)* Gojo vs Sukuna. What a lot of people consider to be the best fight in the series, and some days I would agree, and others I wouldn't. It was an amazing fight, but I felt like Gojo's conclusion/death left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. It could have been done a lot better if they at least showed the WCS Sukuna used, than show Gojo laying on the ground, and than show the backstory
*(SPOILER WARNING FOR THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH)* Shinjuku showdown, what a mess. It is just everyone jumping Sukuna, and no one being able to kill him but than SUDDENLY Yuji can use a domain. Not only was this terrible writing, it was such an asspull that I feel like Gege was just trying to rush this ending, so he can be finished. Nobara's comeback was so random, when I saw her in the leaks I genuinely thought it was fake, and that someone was playing a joke on us. Because seriously? Even though her death technically was not "confirmed" Gege has stated in multiple interviews that he is done with her character. I just really was disappointed in this arc, and this arc is the main reason that the rating is so low. Now that I finished my ranting, lets go to the ratings
INTRODUCTION - 7
As I said, it started off as what people would consider to be a bland shounen, but the introduction wasn't bad and I liked it.
CONCLUSION - 3
I'm not trying to rant again, and I'm not trying to spoil it for people here, just know it is very underwhelming.
MAIN CHARACTER - 6.5
Itadori's character peaked in Shibuya, I would rate his character a 8 in Shibuya, but overall he's 6.5
SIDE CHARACTERS - 8
The side characters are amazing, but unfortunately they are not utilized enough
MAIN ANTAGONIST (Sukuna) - 6.5
Sukuna is a pretty good villain, he serves his purpose, as always, he peaks in Shibuya
BEST FIGHT - 10
Yuji and Todo vs Mahito is probably my favorite fight in the series, sometimes I'll say Gojo vs Sukuna. But, both are 10/10 fights.
WORLD BUILDING - 1
Even though world building is not the most important thing when it comes to a manga, but it's just terrible to the point it really make sthe story worse. Im pretty sure there is only one other sorcerer that isn't from Japan (Miguel), which is really disappointing.
ENJOYABILITY - 7
In Shibuya it was a 10, but it got worse and worse and worse.
PEAK - 9.5
Jujutsu Kaisen had a very high peak, the peak was pretty easily Shibuya, but specifically chapters 110-137
OVERALL - 5.3
Jujutsu Kaisen is unfortunately like much other shounen series, it could not stick its landing.
FINAL NOTES
Jujutsu Kaisen was a fun series to read while I turned my brain off. I liked it but it became extremely repetitive in the Culling Games and ESPECIALLY in Shinjuku. Read it if you like, I suggest it. But don't say I didn't warn you about the disappointment jjk was post Shibuya.

Well, I wanted to make my first reviews for anime and manga on probably my favorite series of all time, the Evangelion franchise. Well what else can is say besides, its the goat. The characters writing is second to none, and the story is excellent. I highly recommend reading this (After you have watched all of evangelion, including the rebuilds) because it does a lot of stuff different, and in some cases even better than the original franchise. I will go in an more in depth review and analysis once I can put my emotions to paper, when will that be? We'll never know until
...
I update.

Probably one of, if not my favorite movie of all time. The characters, the climax, the ending! The character developments, reveals, plot twists, Genuinely a masterpiece! The animations so fluid for its date of release, and how long they worked on it for. I personally believe that Shinji is one of if not the best written character in fiction, and I love him so much. He is probably the most realistic character in anime, whether you hate him for it or love him for it, you can admit that the way he was written really shined in this move. I believe everyone who enjoyed the
...
tv show, they will love this even more. Please watch this if you have not already. (Watch Neon Genesis Evangelion first) I'll eventually write a longer review for this when I feel like, and when I can put my emotions to words. When? We'll eventually know.
