Noukin is an isekai anime that is essentially something like cute girls doing cute things (CGDCT) anime. It uses isekai tropes of being overpowered in a fantasy world. For people bored of this cliches, I would say that this won't be much of a problem since it doesn't follow through something you would expect on a typical isekai storyline. Instead, Noukin feels more like a slice of life comedy anime.
Noukin has basically what you expect from a CGDCT and Isekai. It parodies isekai elements in a lighthearted setting of a CGDCT. It shows plenty of humour & interactions between our main characters like in a
...
comedy slice of life and also the fantasy & overpowered parts of isekai. The show likes to do meta jokes and have tons of references to other popular anime or the culture in general.
There is something that I think is important to address in this anime. It is that sometimes it's hard to know whether it is trying to be funny or serious. It is mostly lighthearted humour most of the time but we sometimes have more serious parts. Tone shifts happen from being comedic to touching serious matters like a character's backstory. I do think that it is nice that we get to see some tragic backstories of our characters, but it is hard to get invested in it when the anime already starts throwing jokes at it after it has done telling it.
This anime is a fine anime to enjoy. It doesn't bring anything new to the table. It takes its serious parts lightly. It also uses many ideas from similar genres. However, it takes those ideas to create a very fun anime to watch. This anime is full of references that I sometimes wonder if it could stand on its own. But it is fair to say that this anime can stand on its own being a fun CGDCT in a fantasy isekai setting.

Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai is a high school romantic comedy. The setting here is that our protagonist Nariyuki is great in academics. However, he is not going good financially and needed to get a VIP scholarship from his school. To his delight, the School Principal decided to give the VIP scholarship ti Nariyuki with a condition, Nariyuki must tutor two of his classmates. Rizu Ogata is a genius at science but struggles at literature. Fumino Furuhashi is the opposite, excelling in literature but is horrible at science.
In the beginning, this anime tackles the reason Rizu and Fumino try to enter a major opposite to
...
their talent. It is touching to see the reasons and how Nariyuki empathizes with it. We also get a third character, Uruka Takemoto. She is amazing at swimming but bad in academics. While all of this is great, it is a shame because it doesn't last throughout the anime.
About halfway through, a pattern becomes clear to be seen. Nariyuki and everyone else gets put in a situation, which may or may not be related to their studies. These situations are used to show the series' true colours, Fanservice. All the plot that have been introduced are just a setting, it tries its best to protect the status quo as the show focuses on getting more fanservice to the screen. It becomes clear that as the harem's being formed, the original focus is thrown away.
The true colours of this anime extend to the whole cast. This includes Fumino, Rizu, Uruka, and their teacher, Mafuyu Kirisu. Late in the show, another character gets introduced, Kominami Asumi. She is older than Nariyuki and failed to pass the college entrance exam last year. Her introduction is actually a refreshing breeze for the anime, as it starts to get stale with its pattern.
So should you watch this anime? It depends. If you're hoping the anime explores more on the characters and how they are pursuing subjects they are struggling with, go look elsewhere. In the other hand, if you're looking for a light-hearted school romantic comedy with minimal plot progression and some fanservice, this is a good anime to watch. Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai is good at that with some slightly amusing scenes and characters.

Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san is not your typical slice of life. The reason for that is because of the focus of the show. This anime tells about a demigod fox named Senko who one day decided to take care of our poor and miserable Nakano who's exhausted from work. That's it, there is hardly anything more of it. What makes it not typical is that the focus is on self-insert.
This show tries to makes Nakano simple so it is easy to self-insert ourselves. This is, of course, to make you fantasize how lovely it is to have someone like Senko take care of you.
...
This point is further reinforced by the extra parts post-ending song. This part is the real self-insert with the first-person perspective. It is fanservice, but not the lewd kind of fanservice. And as bonus info, this anime likes to present about fluffy tails of Senko and the other demigod foxes.
The fact that this is anime focuses on self-insert is not the bad thing about it. It does it, and it does it pretty well. The bad thing about this anime is the lack of depth. Nakano and Senko can be very shallow characters. There are not much to see from them as the focus is not on the characters. Side characters get it worse, as they get even less screentime than the main characters.
I won't deny that the art and sound are great to help you feel relaxed while Senko does whatever different things she does each episode. The animations are not a spectacle, but I argue that sound and music usage is more important at keeping the viewers relaxed.
And so, here is how Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san stands. This anime is a great watch to help you relax by self-inserting yourself into the position of Nakano. Enjoy Senko pampering you with her fluffy tail. However, it has hardly anything to offer in terms of character depth. Characters and their interactions won't be memorable. Just focus on Senko taking care of you and It will be good to enjoy.

Hitoribocchi no ○○ Seikatsu (Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu) is a sweet comedy slice of life series featuring Hitori Bocchi. She is shy and has no friends at the beginning of the anime. This anime features the slightly awkward Bocchi trying to befriend the whole class. Why does she need to befriend the whole class? This is because Bocchi's previously only friend, Yawara Kai decided to stop being friends until Bocchi manages to befriend the whole class. Thus, Bocchi, who highly values her friendship with Kai, feels compelled to do so.
If you understand some Japanese, you might have noticed how Bocchi is named. Hitori Bocchi translates
...
to being alone, or lonely. That fits with Bocchi's traits. This amusing approach in naming Bocchi is applied to all the characters in the series. For example, Bocchi's teacher is named Oshie Teruyo, when combined roughly translates to "I'll teach you". So with that, let's talk about the characters in this show.
Hitori Bocchi is awkward and has a hard time talking to other people. However, she wants to be able to have fun interacting with friends. Bocchi will do some quirky methods to do normal things. She does things like making scripts for daily conversations only for it to fail when the other person doesn't talk like in the script. Bocchi also often misinterpret what other people say. This behaviour of hers makes for some humorous situations.
Including Bocchi, we have four characters in what I see is the main group. There are Sunao Nako, Honshou Aru, and Sotca Luckythar.
Sunao Nako translates to "honest child". She is frank and straightforward. She is the first person to talk to Bocchi in her class. She is often sweet to Bocchi, but sometimes, she likes to tease Bocchi as well. Her most amusing interaction is with Aru, which I will introduce next.
Honshou Aru roughly translates to "having a hidden nature". She gives a facade of her perfect self in front of everyone. But in truth, she's just really unfortunate. She wears clothes with hangers still attached and mistakenly put on wrong uniforms. She creates a fun dynamic with Nako. Nako knows Aru's real condition and often makes fun of it. Aru, of course, wants to deny it. This becomes a running joke throughout the series that I can say doesn't get old or never becomes a drag to see. Despite this, Aru is great at helping Bocchi and the others with their problems.
Sotca Luckythar is read as "sotoka rakita", which translates to "came from the outside". This relates to the fact that she's not Japanese and indeed came from outside Japan. Sotoka is amazed by ninjas and came to follow Bocchi after thinking that what Bocchi does is ninja-like. I feel like Sotoka is under-utilized for most of the anime. She lacks impact, unlike the other characters. The good news is, she gets her spotlight later in the show.
This anime focuses on two parts, the comedy and sweet/heart-warming moments. I would say the comedy is above average. Hitoribocchi's author, Katsuwo, also made a superb comedy series, Mitsuboshi Colors. If you're familiar with that show, you might find some of the same types of comedy here. The comedy revolves around things I've said before, like Bocchi's awkwardness, Aru being unfortunate, and among other things.
The other part of Bocchi doesn't disappoint. Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu succeeds in making sweet moments, frequently relating to Bocchi growing to be more friendly. Other characters get their time too because Bocchi's growth, of course, won't happen if Bocchi is alone. As Bocchi becomes stronger from slowly making friends, others are also influenced by Bocchi. The music does an excellent job to complement the comedy and sweetness in Hitoribocchi.
In conclusion, Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu is an anime that does two things that it wants to do well. It has sweet scenes to put smiles on your face and some light-hearted comedy to keep you entertained. The characters are shortly defined by their names, but they extend beyond just those names. Hitoribocchi has great character dynamics coupled with character development in just the right amount. It's a great light-hearted show to watch.

Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san is a nice slice of life CGDCT. It is not wildly humorous, it is not filled with fan service all over the place, and it does not have any big overarching story around it. It a nice simple slice of life with four girls as our main cast. The story is that Akari meets a vampire while wandering around the woods. She gets to know the vampire, Sophie, and decides to live with her.
We have 4 main characters and 2 lesser characters. The main characters are Akari, Sophie, Hinata, and Ellie. Akari is fond of dolls and keeps a lot with her.
...
Upon meeting Sophie, she instantly falls in love with her doll-like appearance. This leads to her sometimes doting on Sophie, sometimes to Sophie's annoyance. Sophie is a 360-year-old vampire. She is generally calm and she is an otaku. She has lost almost all common sense about living as a human instead of a vampire. Hinata is Akari's best friend. She is overly fond of Akari. She wants to dote on Akari but holds back. But aside from that, she is just a normal girl. Ellie is another vampire and is Sophie's acquaintance. Due to being asleep for over 100 years, she does not have the common sense of the present society, but instead still has common sense from that of 100 years ago. The other two lesser characters hardly appear on the anime, so it is not worth mentioning them.
A lot of the comedy uses the misconception of the characters, and of being a vampire. Like about they only drink blood, goes to sleep at the day, and turns into ash when exposed to sunlight. The comedy in this anime is light. Most are just thrown not for big laughs, but a few chuckles here and there. What's great is that it doesn't feel like it is trying too hard to make a joke. This anime keeps a good flow of atmosphere and the jokes do not interrupt that flow of events. This is one of the strong points of this anime.
The relaxing atmosphere it gives is soothing and the music compliments this flow perfectly. Along with the flow that is not broken by forced jokes, this makes it a delightful slice of life to watch. Just to let you know, there are some slight yuri bait and minimal fan service. This is a great light-hearted slice of life to watch. It is simple and fulfils its role to be relaxing and induces you with joy. There are not much to talk about in this anime, just a good slice of life done right.

What is Zombieland Saga? A horror in a zombie apocalypse? A saga in a land full of zombies? Well, none of that. It is actually an idol anime with zombies as the idols. Why the Saga part then, you ask? Because it is set in the Saga Prefecture, Japan.
This is an anime that doesn't take itself seriously. Keep that in mind if you want to watch this show. Most of the early episodes are just comedic episodes with little story progression. You will recognize this immediately at episode 1. With the first scene that may shock you while also being a joke. However, without forgetting
...
to be silly, the later episodes get more serious by showing the stories of each characters in turn.
We have a handful of characters in this anime, I won't talk about all of them in detail but will describe them to some extent. Sakura is our main protagonist. She is an enthusiastic girl who aspired to become an idol. For the others, we have Saki, Lily, Ai, Junko, Yuugiri, and Yamada Tae. Saki was a girl biker. She has a rash personality and has quirks she kept from being in a biker gang. Lily was a child actress. She is the youngest in the cast and has some story involving her father. Ai and Junko was an idol when they were alive, but in different periods of time. Ai has a trauma involving the end of her career, while Junko at first is not content with how much idols have changed. Yuugiri was from the 19th century. She retains a lot of behaviour from that period of time. And last but not least, THE LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE. Basically, she doesn't speak.
Outside of those casts, we have one more character, who is the producer of this idol group. He is Tatsumi Koutarou. He has a wild and manic personality. He speaks in wittily and tends to brush off things he deems unimportant. He constitutes quite a big part of the comedy of the show. In spite all that, he knows what he should do to solve various problems and how to help the group move forward.
Now, this anime being an idol anime, the music is something that needs to be talked about. There are quite a few songs aside from the opening and ending. Some of them are dedicated to its respective characters in their respective episodes. In my opinion, some songs are nice, but the others are just not that good, notably the insert song for Lily's episode. However, as peoples taste in music are different, you can judge the songs yourself.
The animation is nothing amazing. During dance scenes, CG animation is used. I don't know if it's just the source I'm watching or it is the actual quality, but the CG animation is laggy and has just little amount of frames.
All that said, this anime gives a good amount of enjoyment. The comedic aspects are a big part of it. The comedy is most prominent during the early episodes, but not forgotten on the later ones. The comedy might be a bit cringy at times, but it usually succeeds in making you chuckle.
Later episodes focus more on each characters in turn. These are great stories which tell the girls' past before the became zombies and how they deal with it now. I argue that this may be a better part of the anime than the comedy. It successfully captures each characters' personalities and how they develop.
All in all, Zombieland Saga is an idol anime with zombies as their cast, that is filled with comedy, but also doesn't forget their characters. It shows about the past and present of its characters, before and after becoming a zombie. Although the songs and dances might not be spectacular, it is worth watching for the comedy and characters.

Ever wondered what is actually happening in your body? But are you too lazy to go and pick up a biology book? Fret not, because Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work!) is here to get you interested using anime-fied cells. All your cells are now anime characters, designed to be the personification of their respective cells. And they are working really hard to make sure your body stays alive well and healthy.
Hataraku Saibou is a parody of your cells inside the body. It uses the scientific base as a setting or premise, then adds their own twist to make it more interesting and exciting to watch.
...
At times, it adds momentarily pause to a scene to explain the scientific basis of a cell, virus, or event that's happening. It is mainly a comedy, and it won't focus too much on making everything as scientific as possible.
We will mainly follow two main characters, a Red Blood Cell and a White Blood Cell (more specifically a neutrophil). The Red Blood Cell is terrible at directions, and this will be a running gag that is used occasionally. The Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell that we follow will get involved every time something is happening to their world (our body), be it a wound, invasion of bacterias, or cancer. This anime looks at each cell's actual real functions, then create a character that does that job, while adding fitting stereotypes. The result is that each cell as a character has their own trait that will be easily recognizable when you watch the show.
Hataraku Saibou is episodic. Each episode (or sometimes two) usually tells about one disaster that has struck the body. The disaster and problems that appear does not incite suspense, because you can predict that the disaster is resolved by the end of the episode. Instead, it's interesting to see how the anime handles the problems that happen and how it's going to be represented. The scenes usually switch around between action and comedy. A lot of the comedy is from hyperbole and parody, while the action is from the various types of white blood cell fighting and killing the antigens.
The animation of the action looks great on the surface, but a portion is actually just still frames with a few effects added in. This can also apply for the animation in general. It may look fine on the surface, but some parts may feel cheap to some people. So it feels like a mix of good parts and bad parts. This anime also uses CG to animate some parts like walking crowds of cells.
Overall, Hataraku Saibou is a good and entertaining comedy that parodies the human body. Characters are stereotyped according to their real cell functions. They are used for comedy alongside the problems encountered by the body. The animation may feel cheap at times, but it is good enough to not be bad. Give it a try and you might find enjoyment out of it.

Happy Sugar Life is a psychological horror starring Satou Matsuzaka as our main heroine. It is revealed early in the first episode that she lives with Shio Koube, who Satou considers to be her "special someone". Satou did horrible things to live with Shio, and as you might have read already on MAL's synopsis, Satou will do everything in her capabilities to protect her life with Shio, her Happy Sugar Life. Of course, Satou and Shio are not the only characters here. This anime is one to watch if you want to see a lot of psychologically scarred characters.
A theme going on in the anime
...
is about 'love' and the characters' different 'love'. The story is centered on Satou and Shio's relationship with what Satou believes is pure love. The atmosphere usually changes back and forth between Satou's sugar life and all the bitterness of the outside world. Scenes showing the sugar part of Satou's life will mostly be when she is alongside Shio. The bitterness is from characters that threaten Satou's status quo. Satou prefers to not interact with anyone else, but that is not possible. She has to work to support her life, keeping facades in school and her workplace. This leads to her feeling bitter when other characters are intrusive with their 'love'. Examples of this are when Satou started getting trouble from the likes of her manager and her teacher early in the show.
Happy Sugar Life handles their characters very well. Most of the important characters are introduced early in the show, leaving time to explore them and for character development. There are only a few characters who feels like 'disposable characters'. Most characters are also screwed up in the head, almost everyone has some trauma or psychological disorder. This leads to interesting interactions between the characters, or rather psychos. With each characters comes different interactions, with Satou taking different approaches to keep them away from her relationship with Shio. Furthermore, every character does get their own bit of spotlight, showing their motives, their past, or how they got traumatized.
The story relies heavily on mystery and suspense. Feelings of unease can be felt during the calmer parts of the show. Satou's expressions are not always clear, leaving you wondering on what she might do. You are left not knowing most of the truth, and it keeps making you curious about what will happen next. When you thought you know what was going on, the anime revealed a different answer, and you are back in the mystery. Even during the 'sugar' scenes, just not knowing what is brewing without you knowing is enough to keep the suspense going. The music (or lack of) supports the atmosphere really well. All that said, some situations are so weird and absurd, you might feel disgust or get a chuckle out of it.
Overall, Happy Sugar Life is an anime filled with mentally scarred characters, with Satou and Shio in the middle bringing these characters inevitably bumping with each other. Happy Sugar Life uses its characters well without freely disposing them. It also does a good job delivering suspense. Scenes switch around 'sugar' and 'bitter' parts, with the suspense still intact. On the bad side, at times, it feels like the anime is just dragging out the mystery, and the situations might seem too unrealistic.

Mahou Shoujo Site is what happens when you try to mix all sorts of weird psychological gimmicks without ever thinking how it would go. It is about miserable girls that are turned into magical girls by being given magical 'sticks' gotten from a website called Mahou Shoujo Site.
The show starts by showing our main protagonist being bullied and abused 24/7. I feel like all of these scenes are supposed to make you feel bad and sympathize with our protagonist, Aya Asagiri. But what it really did is making it painful to watch. Fortunately, it is only like this in the beginning.
All those misfortune made her
...
get a magical stick after stumbling to Mahou Shoujo Site. After first using her magical stick, she encountered another magical girl, Tsuyuno Yatsumura. Together, they form some kind of bond, while fighting off the problems that is hidden in the Mahou Shoujo Site. Along the way, they will meet some other magical girls, some become the focus of future episodes.
The theme in this anime is usually some kind of dark psychological atmosphere. Occasionally, there is some moments they tried to make it heart-warming when the characters remind themselves of their bonds. But if course, it fails to make you feel those dark atmosphere or sympathize with the characters because of how utterly ridiculous the scene is. Some scenes are absolutely ridiculous that you will be unable to watch this seriously and just start laughing.
The characters are made super unrealistic and are in no way relatable. Our main character just tolerates all the abuse that she gets. Her brother (the one that abused Aya) is someone who looks down on litterally everyone but himself. There is also Nijimi Asazawa, who is an idol at surface but actually just wants to kill someone horribly underneath. Some characters also went through drastic changes with only little time (sudden development), they are hostile towards the protagonist at first, but easily changes sides to helping her. All these characters are made very messed up, it might not necessarily be bad if you like watching extremely messed up characters.
Art and music are not impressive either. The anime's ending is also one of the weirdest one i have seen. It is live action dancing with flying sperms in the sky. I think it is supposed to have some kind of connection to the story, but i can't help thinking how weird it is.
Taking everything into account, while the premise is quite unique or weird, this anime is just a horrible mess of gimmicks including, but not limited to, magical girls, psychological problems (abuse, murdered relatives, etc), and psycho genius brother. It fails to make us care about the characters, even when we are given half-episode-long backstory. But can it be entertaining? Yes. It is so bad that you can get enjoyment watching its badness, or you could actually become curious on how it will progress.

Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (Wotakoi for short) is a romance comedy which characters are Otakus (Anime or Game Otakus). It is set in an office setting, featuring 4 main characters (2 couples) that are dating each other. Here in there, you would see direct references to manga, anime, games, and the likes. However, this anime fails to deliver well in both comedy and romance. I think it is important for you to treat this more as a slice of life show featuring otaku couples, as to not give any unmet expectations.
The romance in this anime is more of just a setting as it is
...
hardly explored. It will only occasionally throw in some romantic moments. Meanwhile, the jokes in this anime are rarely funny. I feel like the biggest problem to the comedy is the awful timing. It is really slow at delivering punchlines, making it unfunny at most times. To make it worse, there are sometimes short explanations by the game-sounding-narrator, which further slows down the pace.
The characters here are not really outstanding. There's no traits or moments that I feel really stand out from them. Also, even though the couples' relationships might change a little, the characters themselves hardly changes.
The background music is one problem I have with this anime. Maybe it's just not my taste, but although there are some good tracks, there are a lot of weird tracks that are just slapped unto an unfitting scene (honestly, I don't think those tracks could fit anywhere).
Overall, I think this anime fails to deliver a good romcom. There is only a little romance development and jokes fall flat. This is an anime for watching the daily lives of otaku couples. And that's it, since the only thing this anime got going for it is its relatability for people familiar with the otaku culture.
