Akane-Banashi might just be the biggest surprise of the year for me personally.
Since I'm not very familiar with the art of Rakugo and its historical and cultural significance in Japan, I approached this work with some hesitation. Fortunately, Akane presents it with great respect while also making it accessible and enjoyable.
Watching this girl grow, master the beautiful art of storytelling, and mature as a person is pure magic.
Her opponents and friends also shine with diverse and strong personalities, and throughout these first six issues, they stand firmly alongside our main heroine.
