Season 2. Season 2.
Well if there is a theme to be had here. It would be...Change. Bake was Meetings. Nise was Real vs Fake/Illusion. Bake S2 will bring the change.
Story: The Bake gang returns and lets just say that the more you learn, the more you will question. It grips you in as you try to find the answer. But that isn't to say that...well the answers are what they are, whether good or for ill but they will entertain and keep you interested all the way through.
Art: Much like what came before, it's Shaft animation. Not to say there isn't a dash of
...
new but you'll be surprised.
Sound: The OSTs. OPs, and EDs are all great to watch and hear on their own.
Character: As I said, development is the theme.
Enjoyment: If you watched the previous Gatari stories than this is definitely a worthy successor to Bake and Nise. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll go "Oh!"
But most of all, you'll have fun.

Hoo boy. Nisemonogatari. Impostory.
Story: This time we acknowledge those crazy kids in the Araragi family as they get caught up in the weird world their older brother inhabits.
Art: Shaft did not skimp on the character designs or the backgrounds. Heck those backgrounds will be serving a great purpose later for entertainment value. Hehe.
Small word of warning: the fanservice might not to be to everyone's liking. YMMV though.
Sound: The VA's continue to work their magic in the Gatari series. It's a bit of a fast pace considering those involved but if you can follow it, you're guaranteed a laugh. The OP and EDs are without
...
a doubt a major bonus for this new season showcasing that weird charm shaft has and the story within.
Character:Some of the old favorites along with the new. But the new people really shine in this Impostory and add newfound layers to Gatari tales.
Enjoyment: I enjoyed this but then again I am a Monogatari fan. I liked the fact that other people were finally getting the spotlight, while not the way I hoped or imagined, and I love the continuing fleshing out and developments to come.
Overall: Dive into Nisemonogatari and continue the adventures of Vampire boy and his crazy Harem-esque pals. Not all the parts are what you expected but hey, that doesn't mean it didn't try its best to bring the entertainment.
8/10. Platinum Awesome!

Don't leave yet. The Carnival has one more game.
Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki: The night before the carnival.
Story: No spoilers. You just need to go in and experience this last little rollercoaster on your own.
Art: The animation team did not slack off on character designs and even made some cool new additions.
Sound: Hm...think a bit more bombastic but still more of that classic Tenchi sound.
...
Character: This is all about the girls. Not action. Not threats. Just the cast being themselves.
Enjoyment: It was fun to see this little epilogue. I laughed and laughed and was curious to see how things went on their little ride.
Overall: The Night before the Carnival is an epilogue to the first OVA and is like that last ride before closing shop until next year.
8/10. Be sure to send them off with a smile.

History is here. The Grandfather of Harem Anime. And yet There's No Need For Tenchi?
Despite the short length of episodes, Tenchi Muyo is a great OVA series for those looking for the sci-fi comedy. Oh there's action and romance but you will stay for ladies.
Story: It runs a gambit of many things but sci-fi comedy really is the best description. You'll get a laugh out this crazy bunch and some might even make you cry once you learn more about them.
Art: The character design is a superb work for a nineties anime. While some may be a bit more round than what you'd expect, it's
...
more of minor detail in the grand scheme. The backgrounds do help in establishing where and when things are happening and at time, you do wanna take in the scenery.
Sound: Oh my god the OST is beautiful. It just makes you wanna relax and just let it enter your brain. The action ost does well in establishing drama but its the music outside of that that you wanna listen to.
Character: As is in harem anime, its mostly about the girls but this is the anime that helped set the standard for the sub genre. The women leave great impressions on you and the male lead is not that bad.
Enjoyment: I greatly enjoyed this when it premiered in the US on Toonami and it helped grow my interest in anime at the time.
Overall: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki is a great if short introduction to anime and the harem sub-genre. If you're into something that is a bit more relaxed but still crazy then try it out.
9.87/10. The Carnival is just beginning and waiting for you.

Bakemonogatari or Ghoststory is the tale of one man trying to find the Good ends for those who are ailed by unnatural issues. Expect much pain from that decision.
Oh so much pain.
Story: It's a great story dealing with the Supernatural that while not as scary as you might think, it is still quite heavy on mystery and the drama that makes the mundane and paranormal blend quite well together.
Underneath is another story that if you are a romance fan, you might find a great gem as those involve grow together.
Oh and wordplay. Ooh the wordplay.
Art: The animation style plays to many of Studio Shafts
...
strengths considering where the story originates from. Each character has a certain motion to them and has a way of sticking with you. The OPs and the EDs also highlight the differences of the characters during each arc. The biggest catch are the random bouts of animation that serve as the comedy. Bonus points for those that know where they come from.
Sound: The Ops and the Ed are wonderfully song ranging from cheerful to melancholy. The ED, Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, is a wonderful tune that you can sit back and listen to with lyrics that tie into the series. The Osts are kinda limited and repetitive but they help with the atmosphere.
Character: Araragi is a riot and even his heroic side is something people might find attractive. But the main draw for the series are the women: Hitagi, Kanbaru, Nadeko, and Tsubasa. Each arc is a different girl with a different problem, different reactions, and inspires fans just from their personalities if not their backstory and resolutions.
It even has some background characters that make you even more excited and want to learn more about!
Enjoyment: I love this series. Not just from the distinct people that I learn about throughout their stories but from the interaction. Character interaction and development are a part of the great draw here and not for those who are more interested in the beat em up style of shounen or some of the more melodramatic gestures of shoujo. Not to say there isn't any fights but those only help in some terms.
Overall: Those who are looking for some good Urban Fantasy and character growth will find this show a great addition to their library. There are many to choose from and the best part is that whole series is not over.
9.87/10.

Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki or OVA 3 is not bad. If anything, it's actually pretty good.
I know there have been gripes with the changes that have been made but guys come on. Change happens, and while not the way we want, the story is expanding. And there are great gems to be had in this OVA. (get it? Three gems?)
Anywhoo:
Story: Kajishima returns for a new addition to the Tenchi franchise. I, like many others, gripped at the changes back when I first saw it but coming back into them, they are good. It's a YMMV experience but I recommend it.
The story has brought it's A
...
to B game with new characters and certain stories that fans of the first 2 OVAs have been itching to learn about.
If there is to be one complaint, it's that it feels that there are not enough episodes for all the info we received. Maybe if it had been an 8 to 10 OVA fans wouldn't have been a bit left down. But isn't it great that a story had them hooked that had them wanting more.
Art: Another thing that frazzled both me and other fans was the change in art direction. It was weird but recalling it, a new art style should not have been that jarring. Art changes all the time. The medium has changed from the traditional old cell style to the new.
Again a YMMV but it grows on you if you let it.
Sound: The soundtrack still retains that mysticism and comedic tone that it held in OVA 1 and 2. Nothing to detract or add here.
Character: Whoo. I went back in and I gotta say that while things have become a bit more wacky and slapstick, the character arcs have progressed well from the preceding anime and the growth here is well established. Let's just say, the feels are going to be hit and it won't just be on the side of the heroes.
Enjoyment: For new guys, Tenchi OVA 3 is a fun romp going in. There are things for the new fans to enjoy and a bit of trivia to help them with the backstories. For new fans, it will be good to see the old cast in a new situation and see them develop closer as a family. Just don't get too hung up on the nostalgia.
Overall: I give OVA 3 of Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki an 9.3 out 10. It is a great continuation to the old OVA and once more fuels the need for more Tenchi.
Please give it a try and be open minded. That's all I ask.
