To Be Hero

Over-the-top comedy is abound in both works, as well as over-the-top animation. They're both pretty short (To Be Hero is a collection of 11-minute episodes). Both Dead Leaves and To Be Hero like to bring up plot points and bombastically get rid of them within a blink of an eye. To Be Hero, however, is approximately 3 times the length of Dead Leaves in terms of both of their overall run times, so if you're worried that you may get burnt out on the excessive speed and crudeness of Dead Leaves, To Be Hero might leave you a little drained by the end of it.

Similarly to how the main protagonists of Keroro Gunsou have their own mascots - Fuyuki and Keroro, Natsumi and Giroro, Mutsumi and Kururu - most of the characters in Medabots have their own cute or wisecracking ally by their side. The stories start off mainly episodically but they do have arcs within the series. Both shows have a tendency to do ridiculous and comedic facial expressions.

While Yowamushi Pedal is more akin to a shonen-style of writing when it comes to its logic in sports, the two protagonists are similar in that they are both unexpected golden players in their field. Both show the huge amount of progress both characters make throughout the series, but while Baby Steps is more focused on Eiichiro's growth and battles while occasionally showing glimpses of rivals and friends playing their games, Yowamushi Pedal is far more all-encompassing, deciding to instead show many characters and their interactions. If you want a Baby Steps that's a little more flashy but instead has many wonderful interactions with tons of colorful characters, here's where to go.
