It's shocking that there is a positive reception to this. The extent of content that can be drained from this bloated corpse of an animation is seeing your favorite cute girl be animated poorly.
There's an obvious shoestring budget. It's been a while since there's been an anime this clearly underfunded. It's hard to say the animation is bad, when it's barely even existent.
Voice acting is noticeably poor, especially for previously unvoiced characters. Mephisto especially misses the mark. I'm unaware as to if the casting was bad or the direction was. It would not be surprising were it

Frankly, I'm confused.
Clearly this adaptation is just that, adapting the story from the mobile game. The changes are clear to see, and they start off great. But. Then there's some frankly bizarre changes in the musical score. Ostensibly they seem to be going their own way much like they did with Babylonia, then the original score from the game will kick in. It's most certainly the original score, or with changes small enough I couldn't detect them in my viewing. The remixes of the stuff scored for the Babylonia anime were a treat at least. This show is so bad it's good. I rewatched it recently with some friends and it was an absolute blast.
The plot is utterly nonsensical. There are multiple seasons worth of plot points and content, the most ridiculous is the first episode feeling like an entire season of a regular anime condensed down. While it's going through the plot like a fire through a sawmill it's missing significant amounts of character arcs and development. Except, the show acts as if these arcs and development happened so you get baffling changes and laughable emotional beats. Most egregiously a character dies ... |
