Its awful.
The main character is overly edgy and powerful, the magic system is bland and unimaginative while being overpowered. The animation is subpar. It watches like eminence in shadow, except while eminence in shadow sucks, this sucks and is trying to be good.
It doesn't even have the guts to do something risky. at least other edgy and cringy power fantasy anime do something so appalling that its almost interesting. This has nothing going for it.
Side characters are nothing burgers, the MC isn't likeable or dislikable - he's also a nothing burger, the world is a nothing burger. Everything about this show is so

Even better than the first season. While the review may seem a bit high, you have to take the show for what it is. It's still just an isekai. You aren't going to watch it for explorative themes. If you come in hoping for that, you'll be disappointed. if you expect an isekai pseudo-power fantasy, you'll love it.
Ains is a great character and his inner monolog is as goofily charming as ever. It does wonders at making him feel like the awkward nerd who whaled on an MMO. He and his subordinates are just as cool as ever, the fights are good enough ... Dec 10, 2024
Surprisingly good.
The animation is decent enough. It's not overly flashy or pretty, but it serves well in most scenes and rarely detracts from the show. The CGI is quite abysmal, but it is used somewhat sparingly and usually fits whatever it's portraying well enough. The background is a standard video game isekai, nothing to write home about, and for at least the first season there isn't much world-building so far. However, will how much of the series is left, I assume this will change. The characters are well-written enough. Those who are supposed to have depth do, and those who are supposed to be 2d caricatures are. The ... Dec 10, 2024

A masterpiece. Above a 10 if i could. Amazing magic system, bueatiful magic system, deep characters, I could go on.
from how it approaches loss and regret, to how it shows personal growth. The animation is amazing, the fights are sick, Frieren is a badass, everything is just perfect. Even the MC(s) are all amazing. Most anime falter when it comes to the MC(s), but Frieren doesn't. They all feel like their own people with their own wants and wishes and desires. Especially with how long this show is, its remarkable how interesting it is. Few times does a show go beyond 12 episodes and keep me engaged. Frieren ... Dec 10, 2024

Made me so uneasy at the end. That final moon song still makes my stomach drop, my heart stutter, and a feeling of melancholic unease to take over my soul.
Interesting and beautiful animation, amazing characters, badass fight scenes, I could go on. The MC is one of the few who I feel acts like a real person. He does what I think a real person would, not an idealized protagonist goody two shoes. The antagonist is perfect and feels like his In-game self so much. The world-building is expertly crafted and expands on the modern franchise so much. Everything about the show is perfect. Dec 10, 2024
Another nothing burger. Sort of almost plot, however again nothing really happens. The world-building is at least almost passable. The characters are bland, the story is bland, and the romance feels creepy and weird, which Ill get to. The magic system is bland and basic. The animation isn't bad, but it also isn't good. Nothing about this show stand out in any way.
The stakes are never high and nothing ever feels like it matters. The MC is OP compared to everyone else, and the antagonists are weak and uncompelling. The worst part is the slavery. I enjoy when stories have stuff like slavery in it, ... Dec 10, 2024
Cute and fluffy. The election thing does feel like it drags, but the show is cute enough to stave off this issue.
The Russian thing does get slightly old near the end, however, I hope the future season fixes this issue and the whole trope gets dropped. The entire arc surrounding the school election does tire a bit, as obviously the stakes are faked and shallow. I did struggle to watch around this part, but it's my only real complaint. And it's minor enough that I feel the show doesn't suffer too much from it. The MC and his sister are cringy and lame, however, I actually feel that ... Dec 10, 2024

This show did something to me. It is one of the few pieces of media where I was genuinely worried about what will happen. The cat girl was a bit too fanservice-y for me, however, she still felt like a pretty compelling character. Everyone else felt thought out and real.
The story was astoundingly good. I really didn't expect it to be so good. It starts off weak and generic, but within the first 3 episodes its true colours start showing and its potential is obvious. The animation is good and the world-building is above average. The lore of the world isn't its strong point, but the ... |
