A CGI zombie apocalypse where everyone has time to put on makeup.
Generic plot, irrelevant characters and null development for now. Gibiate intends to be a tribute to Japanese History, but it ends up being a pop culture reference remix starring frigging time travel.
The animation is low budget, hardly fitting into an action show. It's also extremelly bugged. And let’s not talk about the CGI monsters.
The dubbing and audio in general are decent, and some character designs are actually interesting, but that would be it. Too many flaws for a show whith nothing remarkable.
3/10, not enough makeup.

First of all, this analysis/review is spoiler free.
Second: English is not my native languaje. You have been warned. This manga couldn't be harder for me to calificate. If i think of it as an absurd comedy with no more intention than pure entretainment, then it serves it's purpose. But Prison School takes itself seriously. If you ignore the absurdity of the situations, you realice that this manga obsessively tries to be more than a comedy. It really wants to break the standarts of it's genre, and to become a pioneer. I value that, this medium is full of outdated and boring tropes, and we need innovation. Prison ...

Huge fan of Yagi-senpai here.
This one shot is not particulrarly good... But it's not bad, neither! You can't develop characters in 50 pages. It's also impossible to show how complex your plot is. As a one shot, it just shows the style that he would use in a longer story, and it's versatility. Yagi does a good aproach there. Story: Not a mind blowing plot, but Yagi can create masterpieces with simple plots. The one shot presents some incoherences, but nothing he can't fix with a new "first" chapter, if serializing. Art: from the first ilustration, Yagi's style is unmistakable. It's just beautifull. Claracter: Meh, nothing interesting to remark ... |
