Don't let the haters fool you, this is peak rom com and not waifu bait at all. Sure some people consider her a Waifu, but those people are creepy af for drooling over a 14 year old.
This and the first season are written incredibly well. The character development is on point, it's seriously the highlight of the show for me.
This isn't just some reverse Shoujo attractive girl falls for less than attractive guy, their love is more based on personality and is more wholesome.
It also depicts accurately falling for someone. I feel the first intro for the first season captures that feeling pretty well.

There were times I loved this story, and times I hated this story. You can say I have a love/hate relationship with this story, because honestly, the characters are some of the worst humans to exist, and the best. This manga is a paradox, it is both bad and good. It's a slog that you can't stop reading.
I don't like Shoujo, but I read it because it's a famous manga. I don't regret having read it, and now that I have I hope to purge it from my memory and never think about it again. It's a story that's worth reading once. Never again tho.

A lot of these types of anime become so cliche that you can pretty much guess what is about to happen. This is especially true for Shoujo, which is why I'm not the biggest fan 95% of the time, as there is rarely an original story to be found, it's more or less a rinse and repeat of the same very annoying troupes.
Yamada-kun has these very same troupes, but it manages to subvert my expectations which is why I've given it a higher score. It's different enough to deserve it. I feel like the dialogue is refreshing enough as well, this isn't a cut and ...

First off, the cg animation. I absolutely hate it. Looks weird, would fit for a Xenoverse game, not for a bloody movie. There are so many things about this movie that could have been cool. I mean, this thing writes itself. There are some really cool moments, but in between it all this movie is an absolute mess. They flat out re-use a key moment from dbz, and it just comes off stale af. Normally I find these stories creepy as hell. That's due to the fact that the older "Sensei" counterpart is usually male. It makes me think of the predatory nature of men. Honestly, this is a hidden gem of a manga. I really enjoyed it. It's highly relatable especially for me. I've been in the MC's situation (close to the end of the manga), I didn't have that kind of happy ending. Honestly it took a nice twist towards the middle to end part, and didn't just follow the typical troupes. Yamaguchi as a character is thought out quite well to be honest. I cannot for the life of me, understand how this manga has been outselling One Piece for years running. Granted I'm watching the anime, but this anime was so mid. I gave it a very generous 7/10. If you had told me this was the author's first work, I probably would have liked it better. However, considering this came after ReLife... it's very much a downgrade from the quality of that story. Thing is, characters do get time to develop, but there isn't a single like-able character in this story. I think that's the biggest thing it suffers from.

This is honestly... the funniest manga I've ever read. Jun's reactions are absolutely hilarious. All of the characters are funny. I'm pretty sure Carol could be a serial killer even tho she looks like a sweet girl. Honestly I was put off by the one page per chapter format, but it worked really well for this manga.
