What is there to say, this series was incredible from start to finish, i don't think I've ever seen a harem series impact me so emotionally. I do want to say is that those who don't like the series just based on the choice, i recommend re watching the whole series again, because originally, while Yotsuba was in the background, you definitely notice her a lot more looking back on it, she definitely did have the story growth, and showed genuine emotion, and its a choice i am very happy with. Even though she was my 2nd favorite at the end of the 2nd season,
...
the movie 100% brought her into the spotlight in a way that made her by far one of my favorite characters of all time, because Yotsuba had heart, the whole time she genuinely cared for Futaro in a way that none of the others did.
I used to think until the 2nd season that maybe it was Itsuki who would win, based on how much she was centered around the story, and her love was quiet yet always there, and her connection to her mother who had similar characteristics to Futaro, but Yotsuba winning makes perfect sense, in every shape and form. You can be mad because the girl you chose didn't win, it was close, all 5 sisters had incredible personality and they all deserved a chance because of it, but this movie alone, before the choice was even made, brought Yotsuba forward, and made this series perfect, a choice that seems balanced and fair, because choosing any of the others would be a one sided defeat, so picking the one who both is the middle lane, and the only one to be truly nice to him without any issues definitely deserved the win. I always told myself if it was either Itsuki or Yotsuba i would be happy, the other 3 are also incredible characters, but i feel the compensation of focus on them throughout the 2 seasons, including Itsuki, was a hint that they wouldn't be picked in the end. This movie was Yotsuba's movie, and her focus and time for her to shine.
Yotsuba is a person you never think about, but is always there, and that's why i loved her as a character, its someone who's there for you no matter what, someone who puts 100% into everything and will care for you no matter what. People hating the fact of clinging to the past clearly missed the fact that she moved on from the past, it was both the pain of failing and her friendship of the past that made her how she was, and Futaro saw that, and while it broke the norm of the one you met in the past is the one you don't normally pick, i think in this situation it was perfect, Yotsuba had moved on from the past, while it took a while at first, she truly realized that her love for him had always been there, and Futaro had always loved her. He made a choice, which makes him as a character much more than just following the likes of the fans, he chose her like a true person, and the choice he made was based on a real motive, picking someone who loves you back and never hated you.
I love this series, and will always love it, it has a charm that you rarely see in harem anime, and i loved every single second of it, the only complaint i would ever make would be that it wasn't long enough, just because i wanted to see more of them, but i think what they did length wise was good as well, no filler, just pure story, which definitely brought out the charm that much more. The Quintessential Quintuplets is, was, and always will be, one of the most incredible stories ever written.
