Naruto and Deku are both losers at the start but through their will to never give up they slowly gain control over a power that was passed to them by the previous generation. A power that is self destructive until late in the series. They get started on their seemingly hopeless path by refusing to back down from a life or death situation (having been deemed unfit to continue their path prior to this encounter). One is loud and rather clueless, while the other is timid and studious. Both are caring and neither is willing to give up on their friends. Both strive to be number one, and give/receive a talk about how a person becomes number one once they are acknowledged, not acknowledged because they are number one. They both have the will of fire, and talk-no-jutsu, that they use to help both their opponents and friends. They have a rival, one who is naturally talented and cocky, who believes the hero will just get in the way during a fight and refuses to acknowledge the hero.
