A little background: Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara (or Ride Your Wave, which I'll be referring to it as for the rest of this review) is the 2nd anime movie I've seen in theaters and the 1st one that hasn't been a side story for an airing anime. I tried to go into it with only the knowledge that Wikipedia and IMBD gave me, but I attended the movie with a friend of mine who went in totally blind. Based on both of our reactions throughout the film, I'd suggest going in not knowing the "twist" (because if you're good at spotting red flags you
...
can tell what's going to happen at about the ~20-minute mark) that happens 30 minutes in or dragging along someone who doesn't know so you can watch their reaction.
Story: 6
The story isn't particularly revolutionary, but it's good enough to hook you and leave you wanting more. The 1st 30 minutes set up a sweet love story, and then the twist happens and promptly decides to use the beginning of the movie as a baseball bat to beat your heart into submission. The ending can probably be predicted easily, and I kind of wish they went with a less supernatural approach, but I also acknowledge that the climactic ending scene was awesome and couldn't have happened without the supernatural elements so I'm content.
Art: 9
The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and all of the colors are pleasing. Going into the film, I knew that even if the story was subpar that the art would be beautiful, and it did not disappoint. I'd honestly say it's worth seeing for the art and animation alone.
Sound: 8
You WILL get the opening song to this movie stuck in your head by the end of it. The OST for Ride Your Wave is good, and there weren't any bad pieces of music. The voice acting was also excellent, and I felt that the cover of the opening song that the two main characters did was so adorable.
Character: 7
I must admit, I never got super attached to any of the characters besides Hinako, but I didn't end up hating anyone. The characters are all competently written and the actions they take make sense. Hinako ended up being my favorite simply because I felt that I'd do the same things she did if I were thrust into a similar situation.
Enjoyment: 10
Explaining why I enjoyed this movie so much would have to into the personal and slightly sappy territory, but part of it is the theater experience. Movies are a lot better if you have tons of people with you laughing with or at the movie, regardless of the actual quality. There's just something about stale popcorn and ICEEs...
Overall: 8
I thought Ride Your Wave was a very good movie, and I'd recommend it if you're a fan of romance flicks that want to tear your heart out. However, if you're more of an action movie person and can't stand mushy gushy films, then Ride Your Wave probably isn't for you. I hope more people get the chance to enjoy this movie!

First off, I feel like the synopsis for this manga is painfully inaccurate. The first 4 or 5 chapters touch on the themes of murderous impulses, but after that it's a fluffy school romance story and definitely not a "fearsome psycho-thriller". However, I didn't really mind this switch in themes because I'm personally weak for sweet school romances, but if you wanted a thriller examining the complexities of adolescent feelings then this isn't for you.
Story - 5
There's not much to say. The story involves Ichikawa, a loner at school, and his crush on Yamada, a model who has a sweet tooth. There's nothing particularly revolutionary
...
about the story, but it doesn't fail in any areas. It's perfectly average, no more and no less. This hasn't been completed yet so the story could get really bad or really good, but in its current state it's a simple yet vaguely pleasant read.
Art - 7
The art is good. I can't say much more about it. It's appealing, but it doesn't try to break from the mold.
Character - 6
Once again, I don't have much to say. The characters aren't incredibly deep, but they aren't annoying and break past tropes enough for them not to feel entirely stale. I did like how the protag's ignorance of Yamada's affections towards him actually seemed realistic and his thought process makes sense, although I didn't really like how the series dropped his murderous impulses after a few chapters.
Enjoyment - 6
It's not spectacular, but it's definitely not bad. I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoy other manga I hold dear, but I never found myself wanting to close it. It's solidly average and a good manga to read in between longer and more action-packed series.
Overall - 5
I felt like Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu is average, and that's not a bad thing. If you feel like the description of a sweet middle school romance between an outgoing girl and a shy boy has you hooked, then I recommend you read it. If not, search elsewhere.

I would like to preface this review by saying that I haven't finished this manga, nor do I ever intend to, but after looking at other people's reviews I doubt that the ending would change my opinion of the story at all.
Story: 2
The story for Ousama Game is simplistic, which isn't necessarily bad but doesn't help it much. A whole class of students begins to get texts from someone named "Ousama" that tells them to do things, but the tasks quickly escalate from juvenile things such as kissing and licking another's foot (for some reason...) to telling other students to die. This could be an
...
interesting study of group psychology, but it's handled poorly. One point that I noticed immediately was the lack of any intervention from authorities. Other series with similar plots explain this by either having it set in an isolated area where no one could possibly help or have it so getting authorities involved would be in direct detriment to the contestants to the game. These situations don't apply to Ousama Game, and as the series progresses it only becomes more silly that police nor the school administration haven't taken action. I know that Japanese school systems don't like to touch the matters of suicide, but when multiple students in a class have all died in a short period of time, with almost all of them being "suicide", you'd think that someone would say "Hey, wait a minute, something's not right here.". Later on, some students say that they've tried telling the police and have gotten no response, but at this point it just seems unrealistic and contrieved, which totally broke my immersion in the story. Also, as the story continues past the initial mystery, more and more plot holes open up and make everything confusing to the point of it being unenjoyable.
Art: 6
I enjoyed the art style, and there weren't many glaring flaws in the art. However, it isn't really special. Not much to say.
Character: 1
I have never experienced such an unlikeable cast of characters that do not seem to serve any other purpose than to push the plot forwards, even if it seems wholely irrational. Part of this is intentional, because a murder game like this would understandedly stress people out and cause them to act weirdly, but there comes a point where it passes realistic stress and falls into the pit of absurdity. The only character that I came remotely close to liking was Daisuke, and that's probably only because he died before he could become annoying.
Enjoyment: 10
Don't get me wrong, I wholly dislike this manga. However, reading it is such a wild ride of things that make no sense that it's almost a comedy. I may not have enjoyed it for the reasons the author intended, but goddamn some of this was unintentionally funny. If you want something to read with friends on a call, this is absolutely it.
Overall: 3
I'm sure others could find this enjoyable unironically, but I didn't. I wouldn't recommend it unless you either are willing to look past major plotholes or are looking for something that's so bad it's looped right around to being a fucking comedic masterpiece to read with friends.
