Art: 9
Not only is the art on each panel very beautiful and detailed, but there is a LOT of it. Story: 8
The main premise is not unique, especially compared to other manga at the time. However, the overarching story that goes beyond the premise is captivating enough for me to want more. We see some typical shounen fighting tropes, however they

do well in facilitating the growth of the characters. The story develops into something much more interesting towards the second half, with the introduction of new villains and a bombardment of plot twists.
Character: 10
This manga does a great job of expressing each character's emotion in response to various events. We get glimpses into each of the cast's motivations without it being an invasive backstory dump. This creates a slew of likeable characters, including some villains that you can empathize with. Yu Kanda may be the stiffest of all the main characters, but he undergoes such a heartbreaking event in the second half that affects him for the rest of the story.
Overall: 9
Excellent art and loveable characters, definitely a must read for this genre
