I think a lot of people get the wrong idea about this anime revolving around an MMO instead of realizing that for the most part the anime focused more on the nuance of MMO players rather than the actual game. The whole anime is meant to create a variety or characters who each take different (and often opposing) standpoints on gaming and helps to make the characters feel more unique as well as creating interesting dialog. I personally love the plot of the show but believe that the ending has a weak buildup and during the end their choice to focus actual story time on
...
the game was a wasted effort considering how generic the game they play actually is. Other than the occasional moments where they focus more on the game and less on each other this anime has a pretty solid plot and some minor character development that I enjoyed.
Art 5/10
Nothing special about their IRL appearances and even less so in the game where everything is generic and bland.
Sound 5/10
The dub and sub are both terrible voiced and the music in too repetitive and indifferent.
Other than the bad animation and delivery I overall enjoyed it. At first it seemed the anime was going to take a more edgy approach towards ako's internal conflict but I was glad they didn't overdo it and more often that not used it to make her character seem more appealing in a comedic way than in a cliche tragic way so at the least the anime gets points for not following conventions.

Kinema Citrus put a lot of effort into leaving the viewer confused as possible pertaining to the plot of the story, there are many themes to the story that are thrown around but never developed, I can understand why they would do this considering that the studio is looking to create a 2nd episode and leaves us on so many cliffhangers out of the hope that it will motivate people to fund the 2nd installment and potentially an OVA movie. That being said Kinema definitely went over the top in trying to grab the viewer's interest.
*Warning: spoilers (although under the dog is so contrived that
...
it's hard to really spoil anthing)*
story 1/10
First let's address the elephant in the room: the story gives us no firm grasp on the plot, they only vaguely explain who the flowers are and give us no explanation into how pandoras are created, if you peek at anthea'ss monitor it would imply that the flowers have some type of psychic ability that the pandoras emulate through a twisted mutation. There also seems to be an implication that they are searching for someone who has a particular mutation of this psychic strain and may or may not be the key to freeing humanity from a scientific breakthrough gone horribly wrong however most of what I've stated just now is based purely off conjecture considering that there's never any concrete explanation into anything going on in this episode. The pacing of under the dog left me feeling disconnected from the characters and anything they do although at least the action scenes can be seen as a prelude to what we may expect from the 2nd installment (should it get enough funding)
Art 8/10
One thing under the dog did well was the art and animation. The artwork felt new and didn't lose it's appeal throughout the episode and was consistent enough to at least keep my attention by being aesthetically pleasing.
Characters 3/10
A surefire way to lose peoples interest in an anime is to rush character introductions and give no time to actually care about them before killing them off. It felt like an insult to my intelligence when they wasted the majority of the episode on characters that we could have watched only the last 5 minutes and felt more emotion for than if we were to watch the entire episode. They waste time on characters that will end up being meaningless simply to force the theme of dread and lack of hope for humanity, instead of giving us reasons to care about these people we're forced to not care because of how they are handled
Overall i think that under the dog has potential and I really hope they make an episode 2 in order to elaborate more on the story's plot because otherwise this one-shot was a waste of time and crowdfunding.

Another Anime by P.A. Works that had a lot of potential but sold itself short and played it safe.
The main problem I noticed about Charlotte was the same problem I noticed at the end of Angel Beats, For the first 7-8 episodes the progress of the anime is mostly irreverent to the story arc and they waited until the last 3-4 episodes to cram all the character development and important scenes together in a way that leaves no room for a smooth transition. I don't have a problem with the actual story concept but I believe that the biggest problem P.A. works has is that
...
it has poor delivery.
Overall the story was great in concept and if done over a longer period with more consistent (if any) character development it would have been much better. The few scenes that seemed like they were supposed to be meaningful gave no feeling because the scene felt forced and poorly timed. I think that the scenes may have been more meaningful if it wasn't for the bad character personalities, Nao being the most pertinent example. I won't spoil anything for those who STILL haven't seen it but considering the life that Nao Tomori has lived up until the main characters transfers into the school you would believe that she would have internal conflicts that she needs to resolve but instead she spends the ENTIRE series avoiding it and chooses to stay as the bland, emotionally deprived, ass that we all know and love. Speaking of love, let's not forget the awful romance bombshell that takes place out of nowhere and ends up being based off what was essentially a bet.
The concept for Charlotte was amazing and the ending would have been more heart wrenching if it wasn't totally forced, I love this anime for it's idea but hate it for it's delivery. Shame on you P.A. for taking another almost-finished masterpiece painting and topping it off with a bunch of splattered paint. Bravo.
Art 6 sound 6 characters 3 blah blah.

Kokoro Connect is an endearing story that revolves around school "acquaintances" who are forced to learn the depths of each others personalities and start to truly become friends.
Story: 7
The Plot is good and consistent but has repeating conflicts in the story which made is seem too repetitive. Also [Minor spoiler] the ending conflict with those 3 guys seemed like too much of an ex-machina solution to bringing them together.
Art: 7
If judging this anime for quality instead of originality then it's pretty standard and clean. The animation flows relatively well and is all-around enjoyable.
Sound: 10
I love the background music for this anime. The soft piano
...
tones make for an all-in-one atmosphere.
Characters: 7
The characters all have issues that would mostly seem ridicules to ordinary people. It doesn't stop you from sympathizing with the characters but they're pretty generic.

[Spoiler Alert]
Kiseijuu is a brilliant story that delves into humanities role in the world and looks into human morality from an odd perspective somewhat similar to that of Tokyo Ghoul.
Story: 8
The story of Shiniji and his journey into a darker world is one that definitely leaves an impression on you. The epic fight scenes and philosophical approach to the story are well worth watching. However, when nearing the end of the show the story starts to take a rather irritating turn that seems more like an environmental lecture from a liberal science teacher. The story was overall very good but lacks in-depth substance in the
...
end which left it feeling like an unfulfilled wish.
Art: 9
The designs for the parasites are creepy and awesome. The blade designs for their tendrils are sharp and distinct. Migi's shape-shifting forms are creepy and inhuman but innocent-looking enough to stop him from looking evil.
Sound:
I love all the dubstep music they used for some of the more intense scenes, It fit perfectly with any scene they used it with, regardless of what was going on.
Characters: 7
I liked the character dynamic established between Shiniji and Migi. They are two completely different characters with exact opposite beliefs towards humanity yet they stay together for the common purpose of surviving. They did this so well, in fact, that it makes you forget that Migi has no sense of humanity and does not cherish human life. I did have an issue with Hana as a character. Hana is some starstruck fool who stalks and follows Shiniji wherever he goes, constantly getting herself into trouble even after Shiniji tells her not to do it over 10 times an episode, she still disobeys his wishes out of the belief that they are "destined to be together" even after he starts dating another girl.

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! (or Watamote for short) is a slice of life anime about a high school girl named Tomoko Kuroki. If you think that you're socially awkward, wait until you read the story of Tomoko. She has such a hard time with even the most basic conversations that she almost brings herself to vomiting. She praises her skill with romance games as being equal to real-life experience yet she can't even say two words to people.
Tomoko spends the duration of the story trying different quirky things that are supposed to help her make friends but
...
in the end, all she does it make a fool out of herself. The anime is very a light-heart story that has some moments of despair every now and then. For the most part, it's a comedy that many people who have experienced social awkwardness can relate to which allows the viewer to have some sympathy for Tomoko that creates a desire to see her succeed in her endeavors.
While all other characters take a back seat in the manga, it's interesting to see Tomoko's relationships with the very few people in her life and how much her personality differs by each person. From being a stubborn annoyance to her brother to being an energetic otaku around her best (and only) friend.
The few characters in the show all have interesting personalities and the art design is very enjoyable. 9/10

*Spoiler warning*
There aren't many anime that fall under the genre of Horror/Dark Fantasy. But the ones that do are usually at least partly successful in conveying a good story. Tokyo Ghoul is an interesting anime about a calm and reserved kid named Kaneki. Almost immediately into the show, he is forced into a horrible and traumatic new lifestyle that he cannot change. They spend the remainder of the show building up to his acceptance of what he is and his choice to take back control of his life. He ultimately realized that even though he is a monster, it does not mean he has to
...
be evil. He also realizes that his previous outlook on life was mortally flawed which is shown in his mantra: "It's better to be hurt than to hurt others". Instead, he realized that if he wants to protect the people he cares about, he would have to hurt a lot of people.
Unfortunately, no amine is perfect and this is no exception. Like most anime, the devs tried to cover the as much of the manga as possible in very few episodes. Not only did they cram it all into 12 episodes, but they didn't even try to skip over trivial events that mean nothing to the story. If you know your going to get little screen time, why would you waste precious moments on things like ten minutes of watching him be brutally tortured?
As far as characters go I can say that the characters on TG each had their own unique personalities. Noting that hasn't been played out on other anime but it's not so hum-drum like most characters in anime or nowadays. There isn't much character development in the anime itself. They take moments here and there to explain small things as part of touka's backstory. However, since the very little character insight into touka amounts to nothing in the anime it, like the torture scenes, just ended up wasting time. I would have liked to see more early-on development, but apparently that doesn't happen until the second half of the manga.
Considering how the anime is supposed to be about powerful ghouls fighting the doves to survive, I was disappointed at how there was much less action than I thought there would be. I was also pretty upset that they ended the anime of his "om nom nom imma eat u Jason" line. The few fight scenes that were present seemed a little anti-climatic for my taste but they still were well animated and held to the integrity of the manga.
Even though there wasn't a lot of character development or fighting, the anime still had a certain charm to it that can only be found in anime of a similar dark nature.

This anime has a lot of good and bad things about it. For the most part, I liked the anime but there were things i just couldn't get past.
Some good things:
1. I love the futuristic VR gaming world that Accel World creates. While it's been done a million times, at least they don't mimic SAO or .Hack
2. The psychological aspect to this anime is also very likable. Watching how the character's personalities become submersed into Brain Burst was an interesting look into how games can actually have an effect on people.
3. The art designs for avatars and landscapes were well thought out. They were all
...
vivid yet solid in their concept.
Some bad things:
1. I hate how no matter how powerful he gets in the game, Haru always berates himself even though he brags about how he became more confident because of Brain Burst.
2. Didn't care for the generic "Loser meets perfect girl" scenario they set up. Especially since their character dynamic as a couple doesn't develop AT ALL.
3. Usually, a good villain is defined by their intricate back story that led up to their evil action. Noumi takes everything I like about villain dynamics and throws them in the trash. He only exists to make Haru suffer and piss off the viewer.
4. Like most anime adaptations, there isn't enough all-around character development. Chi would be a perfect example. She didn't spend a lot of time with taku because she was always worried about Haru.He means the world to her (which pissed off taku) and splits up with taku but still treats Haru like a child.
There are a lot of things that were wrong with this anime, that are typical of many anime I've seen. The only things that make this anime redeemable are the art and theme. Was kinda pissed when the season ended being all about Haru vs. Noumi

When i first heard about Higurashi, All i knew was the Plot and that it was a relatively old anime and supposed to be quite twisted.
At first, i didn't expect a lot out of this series. However, by the end of the first episode i was already filled with Curiosity and Sublime interest that borders an insane obsession.
I enjoyed how cute the art style could be right until the twisted and sadistic parts. It threw me off then i first started watching this. At first, i thought i had the wrong anime because of how cute and lighthearted it seemed. I was ready to give
...
up on it, until i saw the first scene......you know, the one with the bat? Somehow Higurashi is able to be as gory, bloody, and psychotic as possible without it diminishing the story. In fact, it actually made the story all the more potent
After each route in the story I was left with a mountain of questions that were left in the dark, out of my mental grasp until the pieces started to fit together slowly as the show progressed.
Even after two years since watching it Higurashi remains one of my favorite animes and I believe anyone who can deal with the gore would greatly enjoy the Old but unique art, the complex characters, and the in-depth story.
