Wow now This is a good shonen (and a bit seinen at times) after watching the slog that was FMA brotherhood, this was what I wanted.
This show isn't afraid go to to dark places, that don't just rely on gore and blood (like FMA) but instead, with very complex villains, who have thoughts of their own, experiences of their own, that make you go "oh, I can see how you've become like this".
This anime consists of a couple of arcs, they might seem disjointed but that is the magic of hunter x hunter, you never know what you're going to get, and they ... are all equally amazing (especially the chimera arc) I was blown away by some of the scenes and even cried as it becomes extremely emotional and the stakes are high.
This anime is strange, scary, adventurous, dark, fun. It is just a mix of different things that make it what it is, and that for me is a good show. I absolutely recommend it and it is one of the best experiences you can get.

Extremely overrated and it is beyond me how this anime has such good ratings. The highlight of this anime for me was when Ed encounters the chimera girl, it was a super dark and sad moment that made me think the rest of the series would be of this quality. But no, it then becomes an unfunny boring cliche mess with stupidly one-note characters.
This show has many attempts at humor but it just fails, it seems to be catered at kids and teenagers, with a somewhat "dark" tone. I felt like I was watching a marvel show at times. I mean seriously the villains character ... design is so boring it is beyond me, so many other great anime deserve the spot this one has. ill never get how this is so popular, but maybe I just didnt get it. It was a slog to get through. The only reason im giving it one more point in the score is because of the Amazing music, as a musician I can tell a lot of effort was put into it, but apart fom that this anime is terrible. Avoid and watch Hunter X Hunter instead.

Boring characters, cliche story-line, visually terrible. I thought maybe after the somewhat good first episode it would just get more thrilling as it went along, but the opposite happened, it's just an edgy shonen battle royale with bland characters. Mirai Nikki might not be the best show in the universe but at least it was fun, unpredictable and crazy. Compared to this its a masterpiece. How this got a good score is beyond me but then again, same thing happened to me with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.. Some stories are just too cliche to be enjoyed, some characters too one-dimensional.. And this show, has that in ... spades. If everything had gone like the first episode Maybe it could be a 5 or a 7 even, but it just goes downhill with boring long conversations from cardboard box characters. Avoid.
