A mission to restore a boy's male identity has never been this interesting or taken to this level of extremity before. This show is literally a drug hallucination with school romance at its core. So far, each episode would either leave you laughing to tears, completely confused at what the heck just happened, or grieving alongside the characters. Dandadan is arguably the most chaotic yet watchable show of 2024.
Dandadan's story is a testament that extraterrestrial and supernatural beings can team up and wreak havoc in ways that put Jujitsu Kaisen's Shibuya Arc to shame. Despite the craziness, the story manages to show supernatural beings have
...
souls too. Therefore, either recruit them to your side or simply exorcise them. Now, probably the best part of this show: the main characters. First we have Okarun, a dense UFO nerd whose curiosity lands him in hot water in the most ridiculous way possible. How this emotional trainwreck fights arguably gives life to the show. Then we have Momo, our star girl of the show who can control spirits and is truly the right girl for him. Of course, you can't go wrong with a wise granny backing you up on a ghost/alien hunt. All characters are crazy, yet balance each other in ways that make the show watchable.
This show's most iconic element (so far) is also it's biggest flaw: a million things happening at the same time. It would be an issue if you like stuff explained to you, but it won't be an issue if you like plots with unpredicablity. Keep in mind, the mission to make Okarun a man again is the heart of every mission. Watch this show if you want to experience every emotion (e.g. laugh, cry, cringe) known to mankind in every episode. There is more to this insanity than meets the eye. Follow the story at your own risk/enjoyment.

When the Russian spy converts to a tsundere, a good story begins! Don't sleep on this show people! Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is literally Takagi-san meets Kaguya-sama, Russo-Japanese War edition. We are in for a ride thanks to lovable characters, a wholesome plot, and funny moments that will make you smile!
Here we have Masachika Kuze, our ordinary school boy whose complex relationship with Alya grows episode by episode. He lives to tell the tale that getting kicked can point you in the right direction towards love. For those who feel bored of plots revolving around classrooms and school festivals, this is not
...
your ordinary school love story show. There is more to Kuze than meets the eye and Alya is not just another seasonal tsundere!
This show manages to get the "I won't say yes or I love you easily" vibe right, leading to hilarious shenanigans that will teach you Russian. The occasional bilingual nature of this show is what makes it entertaining to watch. I look forward to seeing how Kuze and Alya's convoluted bond will blossom like a flower watered by Russian vodka. Free Russian language lessons had never been this interesting. This show has potential to have more than one season. Definitely worth a watch.

The Hashira Training Arc, while short in the manga, signifies an adaptation done right. The fillers were not unnecessary at all, but helped audiences connect with characters we previously did not get to know too well. Training is the next logical step leading to the final battle against Muzan which this anime adaptation of intense training does the manga justice. Nezuko-chan fans, please don't be unhappy Nezuko doesn't show up too much in this arc. It's for her safety and what is to come. Tanjiro fans, we get to see our kind boy grow episode by episode to become the beacon of hope he is
...
destined to become!
This season features the outstanding opening song Mugen by My First Story x Hyde. A fitting heavier metal track for Demon Slayer at last! This is the best Demon Slayer opening song since LiSA's Gurenge and Homura in my opinion. Kudos as well to this phenonemal cast of seiyuus who gave life to these characters. Notable highlights includes this season's focus on Giyu Tomioka and Gyomei Himejima's complex backstories. The animation powerfully narrates how the past shaped these characters into who they are today. All practice fight scenes are brilliantly animated and do not disappoint. This season also balances intense moments of heavy training with occasional moments of comedy that will make you laugh (Tanjiro should never let Mitsuri feed him again. Obanai might be scarier than Muzan lol). This arc teaches us hard work and commitment will yield good results when a team wholeheartedly works together!
Minor problems with this season include missed opportunities to show other characters such as Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Kanao in more stages of training. While filler did not detract the story from its plot, why only show these characters in certain stages of training? Don't just focus on Tanjiro; everyone else is becoming a better fighter too! While I love Tanjiro for his kindness, how kind he is in this arc should rename the show, "Kamado-sama, A Saint Preparing for War" (pun intended). Yes, it becomes annoying to watch from time to time due to his unrelatable good nature. The only way to ride annoying moments out is remembering his kindness makes him a stronger fighter.
Despite these small issues, Demon Slayer's Hashira Training Arc is definitely worth a watch. You will be at the edge of your seat whe this season ends. Watch and be ready for the final showdown that is to come.

A literal psychedelic drug trip with friendship at it's core. While Train to Busan made my cry tears of sadness, Shuumatsu Train made my cry tears of reconciliation. While it looks like a turn your brain off show when you begin watching, the purpose of the mission is much deeper than that. Great job Shuumatsu Train for keeping me guessing all the time what will happen next.
Every train station (civilisation is probably the best word) the girls come across is a roller coaster of emotions. One of the best things about this show is how unpredictable anything can be, yet still worthy to watch.
...
From a city where mushrooms give the girls personality disorders rather than magic to a zombie kingdom and "no words to describe the chaos" manga land, worldbuilding gets a solid 8/10. Trust me, stuff just happens which will leave you laughing or scratching your head, but you'll still wanna know more what happens next despite confusion.
There is not too much depth to character writing, but each girl is unique in their personality and does their best to look out for each other. In times of crisis, these girls are the epitome of thinking outside the box. Plus this show takes "a dog is a man's best friend" to the next level; all pet lovers assemble. The story weaves not giving up and friendship together in addition to the moral of leaving the past behind and moving forward. True friends never let each other go!
If you like heavy metal music, this show will be even more enjoyable if you listen to Primus' songs while watching the chaotic episodes. Overall a joy to watch, even though some parts of the story may be too all over the place for comprehension. Yes, this original story maintains wholesomeness until the end.

Season 3 signals it's time to get stabbed in the head again with whatever shenanigans these 4 idiots are up to. While not as funny as Season 1 and 2, KonoSuba Season 3 still packs pretty good punches with what is has to offer. The Princess Iris arc was definitely the highlight of the series; the fact that Kazuma and co got away with "how not to catch a thief" is truly worth the watch. Next up we have Darkness whose character gets the spotlight. Kazuma actually advocated fighting against forced marriage this time, an unexpected contribution from an upside down gender equality advocate. The
...
value of friendship shines through, as this band of adventures stick together through thick and thin no matter how dumb/illogical each character is. Truly a great example of thinking on your feet and outside the box to help those around you.
The biggest problem with this season is how short it was, lack of concrete events to focus on, and half-baked humour. Seriously, adapt more than 2 or so light novels for each season! You can't cover everything in just 11 episodes, plus missions of focus in season 3 didn't have high stakes as the ones in season 1 and 2. While I get it Eris/Chris wants to steal treasures from the castle, the relevance of these items were not explored thoroughly enough . Eris needs more purpose than simply showing up from time to time, make her character more meaningful! There are occasional moments that will make you laugh, but this season plays it too safe compared with season 1 and 2. The best jokes come from Kazuma and Darkness, but I wish there were more funny moments from Megumin and Aqua. What happened to all the ad-libbed "yes, yes, I'm Kazuma" jokes and all of that unexpected stuff that makes viewers laugh?
Despite a surprising lack of sharp jokes this season, I still recommend it for wholesome moments and giving viewers good insight into Darkness' life. I believe greater things are to come when future light novels get adapted. As always when watching KonoSuba, detonate all your anger, boredom, and sadness away with a big explosion. Solve problems with explosions first, ask questions later. Megumin's got you covered.

Trust me, this story looks like a turn your brain off cooking show but it's actually darker than what it looks like. This is not your typical "dysfunctional gang of adventures with a seasonal mage character" type show. Once again, we're on an adventure to rescue a sister and return her back to a normal human being (Tanjiro is Laios in this situation, same "I will protect/restore my sister" mindset but more convoluted and involves magic). Teamwork and trust is represented well here with a delightful reminder we all need full stomachs to function properly. Think of it as Frieren meets Demon Slayer (with demons
...
replaced as monsters) meets The Maze Runner with a splash of mysterious medicine thrown in from The Apothecary Diaries and recipes from Food Wars.
Ok, now on great things that stand out. Literally anything can be food and interesting character dynamics. Who would've thought a suit of armour and gemstones are edible monsters. The dishes cooked even look tastier and more nutritious than real world food; watching this makes me want to try Dragon Yakiniku. Senshi can kick Gordan Ramsey in the butt; he's a phenomenal chef who treats people nicely, cares about people's wellbeing, helps the gang think in rough situations, and has a backstory you'll sympathise with. Next we have Laios, the protagonist who may come across as eccentric but we can all relate with him: life isn't fun if you don't put yourself in danger and I care about those around me. We have Chilchuck, a walking and talking airport bomb detector who watches out for traps and is the jack of all trades to the team. We have Marcille, the smart but funny mage who makes sure everyone's health bar is in the green zone. Lastly, Izutsumi who's just a jerk but grows to trust the team. And Failin whose the heart of our mission; you'll see why. A lot of ridiculous situations require quick wit to make sure everyone stays alive.
Now, meaty things about this show. Who would've thought rescuing one's sister would turn out this complicated. There's magic and morality involved, inviting viewers to reflect on is it right to bring a loved one back to life. Should other parties be trusted, and how can we work together to defeat a greater threat? This dungeon is not just a dwelling for monsters, it's as tricky to navigate. Its mysterious origins feel inspired by The Maze Runner. Mystery, suspense, and moral questions to reflect on come up as the episodes progress. There is more to this world than meets the eye, I cannot wait for season 2. Watch and enjoy, this show will pull you in as you watch characters bond through food and cooperate to uncover the mysteries of this dungeon.

These 5 girls are destined to become the next Iron Maiden. Nina, Momoka, Subaru, Tomo, and Rupa are following the footsteps of many real life heavy metal bands (e.g. Metallica, Megadeth, In Flames, BFMV, etc.) who had a rough start but will make it big! For those who feel annoyed, don't be put off by character personalities or band conflicts from time to time. Follow along on this journey of blood, sweat, and tears expressed in every note, chord, and drum beat Togenashi Togeari plays!
3D animation brings the characters to life alongside the rock-inspired background music. Kudos to Toei who did their homework on
...
heavy metal concerts and music videos to accurately depict rock/metal bands performing with vibrant animation. Character writing sums up a rock/metal band's dynamic perfectly: painful pasts that made each character who they are, learning music skills on the go, agreements and disagreements that make the band stronger, and a passion to vent against the world. This show has a clear message in mind: this life is us against the world, but don't let it suffocate you! We fight by expressing pain through the music we make!
The plot remains consistent overall, driven by powerful dialogue and relatable struggles each character must overcome. You will emotionally connect with each character who grows stronger as they confront their fears. Plus, this show has one of the best soundtracks of 2024 hands down. Playing air guitar as you watch Togenashi Togeari perform is highly recommended. Safe to say, Girls Band Cry is Some Kind of Monster (pun intended). This show deserves Season 2. XD
