Both are stories made my Takehiko Inoue, thus that covers the similarities in art. And if you're familiar with Inoue's work, you'd know he loves character driven drama. Both Vagabond and Real fall into that category. If you're hesitant towards real because its basketball and you aren't into sports manga. Trust me, basketball is just as relevant to real as sword fighting is to Vagabond; which is, pretty less. It's mainly about the stories of different people, how they develop, how they overcome and improve; trying to achieve happiness. Both are great reads.

Haikyuu is prettymuch One Piece if it were a sports manga revolving around Volleyball. Both are hype, sad and funny when they need to be. Not to mention both main characters, goofy dudes who you don't take seriously until they get serious. And when they do, peak fiction right there. Both also have a great skill to make everything seem alive, as in, each other crew in one piece comes off as having their own story, which could have their own series featuring their adventures (some more than others). Similarly, Haikyuu displays multiple teams each having the potential to have their own series, even seen in entire matches of a different team like Nekoma for example.

Admittedly seemingly an unfitting match. The themese differ, so does the target audience and atmosphere. However both titles follow a journey in an extraordinarily expansive world. Each with fantastic Characters (each with their own Ideology and moral compass), aswell as interesting Themes. The Same kind of fights (not necessarily phenominal at choreography/strategy. but) focused on the clash of ideals and goals. One Piece ain't necessarily for kids so don't hesitate for that reason alone.

Both have a Similar main character. struggling along a journey to find the best version of themselves while being caught up in past actions. The mature atmosphere and conflicting feelings towards the occurances are present too. The art is also phenomenal, so if u like that Miura eyecandy. Inoue has it aswell. There is however no Revenge story of the sort. Instead you have a rivalry.
