GTO tells a lot of stuff: social stuff with touching stories about these young teenagers who mostly lack reference points or who feel unsuited to the school system (Japanese but the problem exists in France as well) which tries to get them into little boxes; a little philosophy about life experimentation; a lot of humor below the belt; an uninhibited fight; a mind very ingrained in the Japanese mentality where it's badly seen to cry about one's fate and to show one's emotions, etc. Like many I first discovered GTO through the anime series, it was a huge thing at the time. I think it
...
was first aired in France in 2004. Even if the stories were mostly unbelievable, that's not the point. There was also this magical VF with actors who used slang language that made the series memorable: "You when I call you pot-de-chambre, you'll come out from under the bed" (and Mr. Director with his Cresta... what I cracked my pear with his misfortunes). And this very jazzy music in the 2000s was just as cult. It's true that we obviously don't find these things in the manga but the air of nothing animates it very faithfully. The libidinous 3rd degree humor is the same, the faces of the characters are the same too, the story doesn't move one iota, at least not in the main lines (this end in suspension points is nevertheless regrettable). And Toru Fujisawa's drawing is really good. Often between manga and adaptation there is often one of the two that bites, there both are at the top. I recommend both media as well (with a preference for anime). Frankly we could talk about it on pages and pages, but what's the point? If you're between 27 and 33 years old (roughly speaking), there's no need to explain at length why GTO is so culturally oriented. For teenagers, you need to read the Great Teacher Onizuka! For the older ones, it's not from your generation, but who knows, it might surprise you though I prefer the manga because the end is just stupid and it lacks a lot of things.

SPOILER ALERT /!\
After seeing the promotional video when it came out, I certainly expected too much from this anime. It radiated a great funky spirit with an artistic direction that was up to the task, for an animation that was just as much in the same style. For these reasons, I was afraid of being disappointed, because I had too high expectations. Fortunately, this was absolutely not the case!
As the promotional video showed, the artistic direction of the anime (and the sets) is simply fabulous. This is clearly the first thing that caught the attention of the viewers. The colors are applied freely and give
...
a most amazing look to the work with their strong tonality to each scene. One wonders if these so-called sets, despite their definition, are not finally in the foreground of each scene as their impact is major in the implementation of the general atmosphere. The drawings do not enter into a realistic and descriptive framework but rather into an imaging perspective with a semblance of sketch and a remarkable pencil sketch. The whole is so striking and well introduced into the work that it could only fill me in every way. Apart from the artistic direction aspect, the second point of the work's form that makes a mark is, of course, the soundtrack. We find Yutaka Yumada, composer of Tokyo Ghoul and Vinland Saga. His compositions here have a jazzy side that can only stick to the work. The opening gives us directly the tone that the series will take. A melody with some dissonant aspects but which highlights the chaotic and funny character. The opening is also used many times as OST within the episodes. So I invite you to see and listen to this opening to get an idea about the anime.
The ending is signed Freddy Mercury, as we could guess from the title of the anime. You can find below another promotional video this time with the ending! The third point I would like to focus on is dubbing. The first episode presents several languages (including a few words of French!) that are spoken... correctly. English with a Japanese accent is correct and understandable, while special dubbers have been taken to ensure that the other languages are spoken correctly. This really surprised and pleased me. We can find the haunting voice of Suwabe Junichi in a role that suits her perfectly. Finally, in terms of the story, the anime follows several twists and turns and makes subtle and interesting references (including one to Breaking Bad, in this first arc). The first episode strongly surprised me on several points. A good play between context (scam) and surprise was found. The whole, keeping a good logic and with a correct writing in spite of an anarchic side here and there. This anime centered on the swindles begin with a common thing of the underworld: drugs. The objective here is to sell a rich mafia guy some junk for millions of dollars. The situation quickly rises to a crescendo with each episode and manages to place itself in a half-police and half-comedy context.
As mentioned above, the anime used its themes to make sense of the twists and turns. They give even more value and strength to the notion of "confidence man" in this first arc. This bow is therefore intended to highlight this notion as much as possible. And this is done in an efficient way by deceiving the spectator as well. This kind of process can easily become redundant due to lack of explanation, but pushing it as far as possible with such a goal can only facilitate the past message and be an asset to the work. This is even more obvious in that the first episode is an assumed continuation of a fantastic situation. While passing through these points, the story unfolds by developing the main character and giving his reasons. All this, without this part being in antagonism with the main plot. The two clearly fit together and complement each other, so as to give added value to this swindle that has taken on greater proportions than they expected.
I would like to say that these first 5 episodes were a remarkable flawless but unfortunately, to my great regret, one of the bad points in the overabundance of rebounding, that is, weariness, seems to appear at the end of the arc. This may well remain within the framework of the work, but I began to feel that it was too much, although the story remains correct and pleasant. In the end, this first bow is for the most part very well treated and staged and succeeds in the basic bet of the work, which is to keep the spectator on tenterhooks. However, one could be afraid that the basic pitch might run out of steam. In spite of everything, the anime showed remarkable consistency throughout this first part.

The Battle Royale is the big trend of the moment, especially in video games. And Junni Taisen is applying this formula in the world of japanimation at the end of this year. But the "war of the zodiac", which is the starting point for anime, is actually quite secondary. It is a work about the impact of war on those who practice it, which puts action aside and prefers to propose strategy and flashbacks in quantity.
Juuni Taisen is the War of the Zodiac. A confrontation between twelve warriors, each representing an animal from the Chinese zodiac, who must kill each other until there is only
...
one left who will be able to grant the wish of his choice. Twelve elite soldiers who will betray, manipulate, confront and die in a city made completely deserted for the occasion. Zodiac War is good because it's not all action as one might expect. Fighting is often expeditious, and most of the deaths do not occur in the context of direct confrontation. Each character gets a flashback of how they got there, and they are interesting because they show different aspects of the war. It's even a bit odd that in each episode there are 5-6 minutes of the Zodiac War and a quarter of an hour of flashback. The characters, we get to know them by digging into their past. It's really interesting, without really being transcendent or upsetting.
Visually, Juuni Taisen offers a nice gift: CGI that is well used and looks good. Far from the Ajin and Berserk disasters, outstanding examples of a disgusting CGI. Afterwards, it's nice, but on several episodes, it's not very qualitative. The flashback episode of the twins is, on several occasions, a lover of wobbly shots, of rough-finished chara-design and a very slow general animation.
Zodiac War is an interesting anime, which makes the royal battle quite original and tells things while avoiding the pitfalls of pure action. Afterwards, it could have been more visual, but well, you can't have it all...

So honestly, I really didn't expect much from it at the beginning. I really thought it was going to be a banal adaptation with no real interest other than the fun aspect of the series that I had been following in manga for a while.
Already, the opening was a very good surprise, I had no idea what they were going to do at that level and so my expectations for the opening were at the level of my expectations for the anime; absent.
Nevertheless, the opening is excellent, and this first episode is, in my opinion, just as good.
Visually, it's full of ideas and creativity, it's
...
not transcendental, in reality it's not transcendental at all, but coming from A-1 we still feel a good dose of fun from the staff to produce this episode. There are a lot of different little scenes, funny effects here and there depending on what's going on and even if it's not much, we tend to get caught up in the game and have a good time.
As for the ost, I'm not very attentive to this level, but I could nevertheless note that in a single episode, there are a remarkable number of remarkably different ones from each other, from memory I noted 4 or 5 of them and to draw a parallel to what I said just above, we add the ost to the lot and it's all the more pleasant to follow.
Having said that, I still want to mention the work of the seiyuu which is really excellent, I'm not likely to give importance to this part of the work when it's an anime, but in the case of this first episode I found it frankly excellent, especially the one of Shirogane which made me smile.
Apart from that, I'm going to talk briefly about the work ; Kaguya-sama is a romcom that seems to be quite basic, and it puts a good part of its gags on the status quo introduced in this first episode. The real interest of the work is far from the romance, but rather the comedy which results from it, moreover several sympathetic characters will be added to the cast in the future, and will refresh the work of their presence.

The first minutes of the medium-length film are rather slow, putting more emphasis on the sublime twilight landscapes than on the protagonists. The heroine, Sachi, is a 17-year-old girl who is a violin enthusiast, in the midst of her quest for identity, but who doesn't really seem interested in social relationships. She has her own music club, and that's enough for her. Rather introverted, she likes to enjoy simple things alone, such as sunsets. The narration, from her point of view, is initially enough to try to understand the high school student and her way of seeing the world. Her meeting with Kiji, a boy
...
her age, will (of course) upset her tidy daily life. An artist too, he paints in his spare time, and seems to have the same passion as Sachi for twilight. Inevitably, they both fall in love. Their romance is rather cute, although there is nothing original about it. Its evolution is predictable despite some "twists". We could have blamed it on the format of the film, namely a medium-length film, which doesn't have time to develop this one. But the romance, somewhat rushed, is not the only one to have been botched in the end. Above all, what interested me in Hakubo was the willingness of the director and the studio to highlight the March 2011 catastrophe that hit Japan, and particularly Fukushima. So one could imagine that the story would naturally take place after these sad events, telling the traumas resulting from them on the inhabitants of the region. But it is not, or almost not. So yes, Sachi seems to be marked by the earthquake and what came after it. However, we only learn about it because his sister talks about it, otherwise it is not obvious. For Kiji, the trauma is indeed more present. But the film once again hovers over this intrigue which, however, could have given Hakubo a boost. The medium-length film would have needed it, because apart from the romance, not much happens. Beyond the romance and the failed message that Yamamoto Yutaka wanted to convey about the March 2011 drama, there is little left to say about Hakubo. Apart from the main couple, the other characters are only extras and bring nothing to the plot. Nevertheless, we will retain Hii, Sachi's very annoying friend, whom we can't help but hate so much because she is so selfish and unbearable. But that's all. On the other hand, I really appreciated the simple and soft atmosphere in which the film plunges us, with a certain serenity which emerges from it. The soundtrack is effective, with violin pieces in perfect harmony with the visuals, and above all, the sumptuous representations of the sky. Special mention for the ending Tooku interpreted with great delicacy by Azuma Hitomi. If the sets are indeed rather successful, the animation can leave one skeptical. There is a certain contrast between the shades of colors of the sky worked with precision and the rather singular chara-design. The facial expressions are hardly perceptible, especially the smiles. And the animation is sometimes very (too) fast and sometimes almost static. This is a pity. I won't go as far as to say that Hakubo is bad. Let's say that it is a nice entertainment but very far from being transcendental. I didn't have high expectations for the movie, but it still left me disappointed and somewhat frustrated. The poetry of the beginning fades very quickly in favor of boredom, all the more so since the romance, the real interest of the film, turns out to be tasteless and above all dispatched. Above all, the director's initial message, that one must continue to live after a drama, has completely faded away. A beautiful waste.

The characters are great from Conan/Shinichi and his great deductive skills, to Ran and his karate moves, to the Junior Detectives (boy detectives) who are fun and (sometimes) quite talented, and so on.the cases are captivating and we look forward to the next tome (or episode) to get to the bottom of it.
Nevertheless, this brings us to a problem: the length of the series. I don't know if it's the author's imagination that's running out, but we're finding more and more that the principle is being repeated, whether it's the cases involving the FBI and black men where the plot moves forward with almost annoying
...
slowness, or the other cases that seem a bit similar on the edges. At least with this series, we know all the possible methods of committing a murder in a closed room to disturb the local detective ...
And Conan who is still and always on the scene of a crime (not a day off for the heroes of manga dis donc!), if he does not have psychological problems with that then there hat down because he has what to have a severe ulcer and serious disorders with this rain of corpses that there is around him.
I also have a little trouble understanding the temporal rhythm: there are several summer and winter vacations that have passed and yet the characters are always at the same point in their school curriculum. Would they have the capacity to not get older? Would they be in a strange space-time? Maybe I need someone to explain to me the why and the how of this.
In the end, it's an excellent series despite its flaws for fans of the detective genre and others but only in the short to medium term for fans of various scenarios.

At the beginning, you can get a little lost in the characters' dialogue; this is normal. But then one is quickly captivated by the scene. What is remarkable in the succession of actions is the animation. Everything is realistic and perfectly balanced. The shots follow one another in such a way that you feel their impact. And while these blows follow one another, a soft sound caresses our eardrums. Thus, we plunge totally into the action. Certainly, the very well managed animation in the first episode is what makes you want to follow the rest of the series. After the opening, you are welcomed by
...
the protagonist, at least when he was a child. His name: Jin Mori. Jin Mori is a high school student who apparently lives alone, without his parents. In the dream we are presented with, we see him chatting with his grandfather. We quickly enter the heart of the anime The God of Highschool with a dose of humor. Between Jin Mori's bike race and his meeting with his first revealed friends, we have little time to breathe. Jin Mori's bike race takes him on a chase in the middle of the city with a motorcycle thief, a road racer to boot. Indeed, without knowing why, the first extras are crushed by an evil power coming from the sky. That's all it takes to get interested in the series. Apart from the fighting aspect, there seems to be different political elements since the president of the United States seems to be "threatened" or at least informed that Korea has some kind of new weapon capable of razing an island without sending missiles... The flaw is the choice made by the animation studio to redden the tops of the ears, nose and joints of some characters. Why make such a choice? Why is it applied only to certain characters? How can we conclude this opinion without mentioning the opening and ending of The God of Highschool? They're just great. The opening is "Contradiction" by Ksuke ft Tyler Carter. He has the gift of increasing our heart rate. The audio is coupled with a sequence of sequences where we see the characters in the middle of a fight. For the ending, we go in a style a little more refined than the opening. It is flexible and light. Listening to it, I feel like I'm swimming in turquoise blue water without turbulent waves. Far from the electric atmosphere of the opening, the ending rocks and caresses. It allows one to free oneself from the tension felt during the episode. A pure delight for the ears.

Unbelievable. There are no other words to describe it! I started it on a whim, everyone was talking about it and I clearly thought it was over the top, I was so wrong! From the very first second you get attached, whether it's Emma and her absolutely adorable face, Norman and his very cute and smart side or just Ray acting mysterious. The graphics are beautiful, the characters, the scenery etc... everything is efficient. The opening, incredible, it remains in your head and moreover the animation is super beautiful. The ost, quite simply magic, small preference for Isabella Lullaby who for me is the most

beautiful of this anime, but also of all manga confused. Such a simple story that catches you as soon as you start, that's what I was looking for a few months ago, I'm happy to have found this one! A very promising season 1 that only makes you want to see the second one!

I had a great time watching this anime despite the frustration that some of the male character's reactions can bring and the heroine's perpetual naivety. However, we can easily recognize situations in our lives or people we've crossed paths with. The ending is correct without having really sublimated me. Finally the drawing is really nice, it has its own little touch that changes from the other anime.
If you like shojos and you want to have a good time following a teenage romance I advise you otherwise, it remains an average. I'm looking forward to season 2 with impatience despite its defaults this anime has a

The best magical girl I've ever seen! Madoka's psychological realism is incredible! Finally, we show you the real aspects of a super heroine, while in all the shojo, we show you that Celestia is great at saving people, that you have big stakes blah blah blah... there, it is clearly shown that the risks are also and especially for puella magi. The graphics are just incredible! The world of witches, you had to dare to do it as it is done, clearly, that too is successful! Kuybey, in a normal shojo, he would be the heroin's mascot, very nice and cute, but it's the opposite

despite his cuteness... The opening, just as offbeat from the universe with a magical song! The ending twist plot is just so unbelievable and at the same time broke my heart. I highly recommend this very mature anime!
